Carl, Fuel consumption for an Onan 12.5kw genset is .38 gph at idle, .71gph at half-load, 1.28 gph at full load. That is amazing how close it is to my 7.5 kw fuel consumption.
-
When your air conditioners/genset stopped what was your fuel level? That has been my experience too. My Onan quietdiesel 7.5kw uses .4 gph at half-load, .9 gph at full-load.

Yes, that is what I was familiar with too, until we bought a MH from Camping World. Once the process was explained to me It makes sense because parts for MH's are not an item every auto supply store or warehouse stocks.

Kaysmith offered good advice IMO, it addresses total cost and safety. -
For general information, the service manager for a Camping World super center explained to me the process for service work. A customer makes an appt. for service work, whether it be warranty or customer pay. On said appt. time the RV is logged in and put on the rotation calendar, when it reaches the top of the list the RV is moved into a service bay for diagnostics. After diagnostics are confirmed the RV is moved back to the storage lot and placed at the bottom of the "parts ordered" list and required parts are ordered. When parts arrive for said RV they are held until the customers RV reaches the top of the waiting list again. Customers RV is moved into the next vacant service bay and repairs are performed. That service manager then told me after parts for our MH are ordered I could take our MH back home with us until parts arrived; however, traveling RVers were put at the top of the list for repair work. I have no clue about other RV dealerships, but expect they follow the same practice.

Since you do not multiply AH when connecting 2 6V batteries to make 1 12V battery the advantage is obvious to me. Plus if 1 battery fails you still have another to get by with.

This is one of the 12V deep cycle batteries I mentioned: https://www.trojanbattery.com/pdf/datasheets/SPRE_12_225_DS.pdf

There was a long discussion, including videos about that engine in the who.what, where, when thread under General Discussion. -
The breakaway switch is widely available at auto supply stores, farm stores, RV supply stores, and most big box stores towing dept..

Six volt batteries, when connected in series to create one 12V battery do not double the amperage, only the voltage. Two 12V batteries when connected in parallel double the amperage, voltage remains at 12VDC While 6V batteries used to be the best option, that is not necessarily true today. This explains everything in detail: The 12V side of life This video might be informative too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy3hga_P5YY

Repair kits are available for them, call a Sleep Number retailer nearby. If you cannot locate a kit specifically for your mattress a swimming pool repair kit might work just as well.

A side note to the pictures; did you notice motorhomes appeared to have withstood the storm, other than a TT being blown into one. -
Other than the potholes and curbs one cannot avoid, perhaps the next worst thing on a tandem axle tire is spot-turns. Try to avoid sharp/spot turns whenever possible. I once watched a guy make a spot turn on hot asphalt one summer day in East TX, he rolled a tire so much it broke the bead seal.

Yep, don't watch while they "readjust" the door the first time, it's hard on your heart.

I wish I remembered how to use all the functions of my Beckman RMS VOM, it's been 19 years since I retired from ABB, I think I've forgotten more than I ever knew.

The magnet is on the screen door, you'll need to invent a way to keep a magnet in contact with the magnetic switch on the step-wall to keep steps retracted; OR, remove one wire from the magnetic switch while steps are retracted, this means you'll need to carry a step stool for entering/exiting. Check out this website for different size hinges: https://www.protex.com/product-list?Text=screen door hinge or: https://factoryrvsurplus.com/collections/door-components?page=2 https://www.rvadenver.com/HARDWARE-s/107.htm

Wayne and others, don't plan on staying at Kings Bay sub base Fam-camp for a while; it was destroyed by a tornado yesterday: https://www.news4jax.com/news/local/2021/07/08/kings-bay-base-digs-out-after-tornado-rips-through-rv-park/ -
But, But, guys making them behave respectfully would stifle their little spirit and individualism.👹 I would have told that mamma my feelings about over-permissiveness before she finished opening her mouth.

Apparently that RV park owner needs to join FMCA and participate in the discussions. If he was using a VOM IMO it was not an accident he misread the meter, but ignorance.

According to the sales brochure your MH came with 4 12V coach batteries and 2 12V chassis batteries, and an electronic battery control center. To me that indicates ALL the battery wiring is suspect.
-
First determine if the alternator has the correct output. If there is no output the first thing to check is the voltage regulator, many replace an alternator when only the internal voltage regulator is faulty, big cost difference.

Welcome to the FMCA discussion forums! Search for a nearby Cummins Coach Care facility. Most Freightliner shops are also authorized Spartan chassis repair shops too.

Wayne would that make it an etch-a-sketch? Anyway, I have the $39.95 2022 Deluxe version motor carriers road atlas coming directly from the Rand McNally store. I'm pretty sure I can rely on it; can't say that about my RM RVND7 GPS, it hasn't updated the maps in 3 years now. I called RM tech support, no help there. I saw a blurp on the internet a few years ago that some company had bought RM and made a lot of changes.

Calm down, the stains will come off with the right cleaner. Your plumbing is not harmed permanently, nor is your water heater-which may be flushed out with a heater cleaning wand. I had reasonable success filtering out the red floating iron with an ordinary whole-house sediment filter. Got into that situation at a CG on well water near a lake. After 8 hours the entire filter cartridge was red and had floating specks in the clear housing. Since I always travel with a full fresh water tank I left it untouched and had clear water for the next days traveling. To be polite I removed the now-red cartridge and left it neatly on the picnic table on display. 😉
