  1. The quality and support of Jayco is very good.
  2. We have had a Cricket 24 volt for about 6 or 7 years. Ours was the first Resort Model that Rick's sold. It has a hard top which is not available anymore. We carry it in our Chevrolet Equinox. I will fit in a late model Chevrolet HHR, also. We use to carry it in a Pontiac Vibe. You have to remove some parts, collapse the length (it telescopes) and run it up ramps into the auto. The motor is the brake; therefore, you don't need to tie it down. I did replace batteries last year because the power cord became unplugged over the winter. The batteries were almost zero volts. They did recharge, but didn't want to trust it. The charger has a separate charge circuit for each battery, and you can leave it on charge all the time. The charger will charge to full and keep it topped off as needed. The difference between my 24 volt and the new 36 volt is about 10 to 12 % increase in speed. My top speed is 8 mph.

  6. We have a 2006 Fleetwood Expedition. I have replaced the carpet with a marble dust and resin flooring product called Villa Stone 4 years ago. The product was suggested by Habbagar Flooring in Decatur, Indiana. They do the custom floors for Fleetwood where ceramic tile is not used. This product is installed with outdoor carpet adhesive and grouted with a resin based grout. Basically the installation is just like installing ceramic tile, but when done, the floor looks like ceramic time and weighs less than the carpet and pad that you take out. It is about 1/8 inch thick. Problems that you may find: 1. Hundreds of staples that must be removed. 2. Fleetwood used a pin to hold the plywood floor to the frame. When the carpet and pad are removed, I had 5 of those I had to cut off with a grinding wheel, counter bored the floor, put in large fender washers and bolted down the floor. Filled around the head with floor leveling patch available at big box stores then laid the new floor. Altogether, it took me two weeks. I did not tile the slide out. Total cost was about $750.00. We have been very satisfied. I would do it again.

Your favorites should still be there. There is an option to get them back, but I did it about 8 months ago and do not remember the steps. Google the problem and there should be an answer out there.

Looks the same as it did a few months ago. Thank you.
  9. Not sure when Monaco parent company changed; but Habegger Flooring, 1337 Village Green Drive, Decatur, IN 46733, PH=260-724-2180 does special flooring for all the Monaco, Fleetwood, Holiday Rambler motor homes built in Indiana. The owner helped me when I replaced the flooring in our motor home.

    Engine Retarder

Mine is on all the time unless there is a sign that says NO EXHAUST BRAKES. Some towns post that.
  11. A few years ago, the term "class" was perceived to be a negative; therefore, FMCA and some other RV organizations started using "type". Not everyone does, nor is it used consistently throughout FMCA or the RV industry.
  12. Without depreciation, last year my cost per mile was $1.37. So far this year, $1.09. Lower cost is probably due to lower cost of fuel for a major trip and insurance doesn't hit until September.

I have switched to Google Chrome as my browser. Not sure when this started, but when I LOGIN, I am taken to my Account Information. With Explorer I was just sitting at the Home page ready to select a tab. Is this because of a change on the web site or because I am using Google? Ross Boyer
  14. So many manufacturers use the crimp back outlets. You may find many of these between the GFI and the circuit breaker box. You may find that one of the crimps has cut the wire or the load has caused the connection to burn the wire, breaking the circuit. The GFI circuit in my coach has a total of 17 outlets. Different manufacturer, but not what I would call code; but I don't think the code for residential applies to RVs.
  15. If you head west to Gulf Shores the state park there is very nice with full hookups. I have only traveled the interstates going north, but Oak Mountain State Park just south of Birmingham, AL is a quiet stop with full hookups. If you go there, be sure to use the south end entrance. GPS's will show the north entrance also, but RVs cannot cross the dam.
  16. When the 458 is on shore power, a relay is closed to connect the shore power to the coach thus bypassing the 458. I would think that you will need to turn off the 458 when not on shore power to be sure the power plug does not become live 120 volts. The transfer switch should be wired to prevent this, but check all to be sure you don't get reverse feedback.
  17. If I remember correctly, the airport is the next road north and has auto rentals available.
  18. I would check for a bad ground in the parking, running, and tail lights. Because of their location, water enters into the sockets and will cause a lot of gremlin problems.
  19. Suggest you call FMCA, 513-474-3622 or 800-543-3622, and ask for the events department. They take the reservations and will know.
  20. When corrected, please let us know the fix.
  21. You might find a Ground Fault outlet in the bin below that area where the outlets do not work. While another Ground Fault outlet should not be down stream from the first many coach manufacturers do it.
  22. Near the radiator may be a heater shut off valve. Look for it in the heater hose line. Mine is only visible from underneath.
  23. I have used a Samsung RF197 for 3 years on modified sinewave inverter and did not increase battery bank of 4-6 volt batteries. We don't usually boondock, but have stopped overnight at a Walmart a few times. We run the generator in the evening, but shut it down about 10 or 11 pm. I do turn off the ice maker. My only other load is a CPAP machine all night long. We have never had a problem. Rough roads, not a problem, just turn off ice maker to prevent water splashing out and freezing a big block in your ice bin. Also, the frig you select may have door heaters to reduce humidity, turn that option off, too. The heaters will use more power overnight than the frig cooling.
  24. I am sure that prices have gone up since we replaced ours, but check on an Allison "factory rebuilt" transmission. I found they were less expensive and had a 36K mile warranty where a local shop rebuilt only had 90 days or 3K miles.
  25. I have used the Roadmaster plastic rock shield for about 6 years. It does work well, but still some chips still do occur. I have the optional storage rack to hold the rock shield when I am not towing. I tried the web shield that lays flat over the tow bar and found that to be not very effective. A friend of mine has the bra and has had very good success. The only problem I see is that it is a large item to store when you are not towing.
