  1. It is connected to the LPG detector. Ours is located near the floor in the kitchen. If that alarm sounds, the valve will close. If the batteries get low, the alarm may chirp which is probably due to the batteries not being charged or maintained. You may have a switch near the LPG fill location that can close that valve, also.
  2. I am interested in why you think so. The information may help others that are undecided.
  3. In the early years of FMCA, towable RVs could join as Associate Members. Doing so allowed young adult family members the ability to be in a chapter and socializie with friends that the knew as the grew up with their parents that were FMCA members. Today, associate members can only be those that were family members that had owned a motor home. An associate member today has all the rights and privileges as a family member except they can not hold an office (national, area or chapter) or vote. Technically, they could attend conventions, area rallies and chapters. I would like my children or grandchildren be able to join FMCA as associate members as they once for us to be able to socialize as a family in this organization. But today that is not the issue to be voted upon. The issue is should FMCA allow all RVs to join.
  4. Typically nay sayers are the individuals that post about issues, but hopefully posters here will post about the positives on both sides of this issue. We have heard a lot of negatives. I for one still have not made up my mind. There is still about 3 months before our ballot needs to be sent in.
  5. Before we leave the issue of Associate Membership, Carl have you called FMCA and talked to Membership Services? If not explain your issue with dates to see if it can be resolved.
  6. Hopefully, the articles in FMC that goes along with the ballots will be clear to the membership.
  7. Herman is correct about Associate membership. Also the term I used was towable RV, not toads, towable dingies, etc. The article referred to by jleamont is not the norm that MotorCoach and Recreational Vehicle owners would use. Not everything in print is correct.
  8. I don't think that a towed auto is a towable RV; therefore no confusion should occur.
  9. Topic Started! Note: I just edited this first post to change the title from "voting in the future" to vote NOW. Ballots are in FMCA magazine (September 2017 issue as well as next months magazine) OR Available on the FMCA website. FMCA is YOUR organization. Please VOTE for what you feel is in FMCA's best interest. Brett/Moderator
  10. We had a lot of rain. I want to thank every member of the parking crew. Also the FMCA Staff did everything possible to make this convention great. Thank you all.
  11. The buildings FMCA will use at the Indiana State Fairgrounds are air conditioned. The Coliseum was refurbished last year to improve seating and sound. If you have any questions about the Fairgrounds or the area, please ask or send a Personal Message to me. Safe travels to all on your way to Indianapolis.
  12. There are sources of batteries, tools & instructions for an end user to change their own iPhone batteries. I have not done it. When battery time gets shorter each day, I have found that letting the phones battery discharge as low as possible and then fully charge. I then unplug and immediately charge again. The battery seems to have it's life restored.
  13. Chris Smith replied on another post that Seven Corners has found two professional transport companies that will return your greater than 10 year old coach.
  14. Since I made the motion, I don't think that those RV's are excluded. There were amendment motions made to exclude them, but those amendments all failed to pass. I think you will find that the definition that is to go out with the ballot is "The term “recreation vehicle,” as used herein, is defined as a self-contained wheeled vehicle that includes permanently installed cooking, sleeping and sanitary facilities.”
  15. I don't know why Verizon would be any different than AT&T, but maybe the phone used is the issue. We have had our 30 GB shared data plan for several years, and I have not perceived any throttling even when we go past 30 GB with our rollover from the month before. I don't know if the plan is still available. I did check on the unlimited data plan that came out about 6-8 months ago. Fortunately, the salesman asked how we used or phones. The unlimited data plan will not allow tethering (that's a minus) and doesn't allow data and calls at the same time (another minus), but unlimited data is a plus. We have been with AT&T since we had a bag phone with Indiana Bell. Went through the breakup of Bell, buyouts, and still with them. As most we travel all across the country. There are no service areas with AT&T, but I bet Verizon doesn't cover central South Dakota either. Since I am a General Motors retiree, we get a 20% discount on the service, too. We have DirecTV and since AT&T bought them out, we merged the billing which saved $5/mo, also. Our DirecTV is not the minimum plan, but just one up and we have the New York and LA feeds of ABC, CBS, and NBC. Our worse cellular service is in our own house. We have a land line wireless box form AT&T in our house that has good service. It is cellular also, but I am told that the power is 10 times greater than or cell phones. One advantage is that we can take it with us as we travel and receive our 'house' phone calls. Not sure that is a plus, most of the calls are robo. Our neighbor just across the street that uses Verizon and has to sit on the top step in the two story house to use their phone. Neighbor next door has Sprint and has poor to no service. Our data connection rarely has a problem in our house though. A new tower was installed just 0.4 miles away that is, according to the AT&T installers, an AT&T and Verizon tower. My latest coverage app update show better Verizon and AT&T service in our area, but I haven't noticed any improvement. When we travel, I use my laptop running Street Atlas 2015 as our GPS. My phone is tethered the whole time. Keeps it charged and quickly available for my wife to answer. I don't use it while driving, have enough distractions. I have looked at the Mobley for unlimited data for $20/month, but don't think it would be good for us since we have the phones on the shared 30 GB data plan. Probably more than you wanted to know, but I had the time to explain.
  16. We use our iPhones as hot spots for hours on end. A few times for more than 24 hours straight. We are on AT&T 30 GB per month plan. With AT&T, I can use the phone for calls and data at the same time which I don't think you can do with Verizon just one or the other. We do tether (USB cable) our phone to our laptops to keep them charged while using. Also, tethered is a little faster than WIFI between pc and phone.
  17. Brett. So right, but I am 76 which is older than the average and try to keep up with technology. I would like to have electronic voting added to the mix. If there is a Bylaw change made, it would take some time to create the procedure and method to count both electronic and paper to insure that only one one vote is counted if there is a duplication.
  18. Thanks Chris for giving an update regarding motor coach return. I wasn't able to get to the FMCAssist seminar/presentation at Indy to get the latest update. Members do need to know that the coach does need to be roadworthy, and FMCAssist does not pay for breakdowns or repairs. But still it is a great benefit.
  19. Possibly a generality, but I think more senior members will use the paper ballots and younger would use an electronic method if it were available. But in either case, I doubt that there will be more than 15-20% of the membership will vote.
  20. Herman: Bylaw amendments are voted on by the Governing Board. Constitution and Articles of Incorporation are voted on by the membership. The Indianapolis Governing Board voted to send the changes to the Articles and Constitution on to the membership. The Bylaws were approved by the Governing Board as proviso changes pending the membership approval of the Articles and Constitution.
  21. I just compared prices on 275/70 R22.5 Michelin XZE2 & XZA2(didn't find XRV) and Continental Coach HA3 via the FMCA web site. The specifications are very close and load weights are identical. The Continentals were $50 less per tire at $489.32 + tax. So, I am considering Continental, but do not know anything about them as related to RV tires.
  22. Wildbill. About 6 months ago maybe more, the announcement was made that the Transport companies will no longer drive back MotorCoachs older than 10 years, because they were having too many breakdowns.
  23. FMCA's Policy and Procedure 1000 states the conditions to change the FMCA Bylaws. Proposed amendments shall be received by FMCA no later than January 1st of the the year the proposal is to be considered by the Governing Board. Adoption of the proposal requires a 65% affirmative vote of the Governing Board. There are several more details in P&P 1000, but the above are the basics. At best it would be the next governing Board meeting at Gillette before consideration of electronic voting can be stated in the FMCA Bylaws.
  24. You can send them back to Kiley Mold for repaint. Don't know if there is a charge.
