  1. We need more information to be able to help you. When you say the coach breaker trips, which breaker? Is your service, 30 amp or 50 amp? Is your coach, 30 amp or 50 amp? I am guessing the answers will be 30 amp. If so the air conditioner is 12 to 15 amps of load. The microwave is also 12 to 15 amps of load. Your converter charging the batteries is 5 to 20 amps of load. Refrigerator is 3 to 50 amps load. Turn it to gas. Do you have an electric heating element in your water heater? If you do, turn it off 12+12+5 is 29 amps or 15 + 15 + 20 is 50 amps of load. Both are too close to 30 amps or much more. The solution is to turn off a major load to be able to operate another major load.
  2. We ordered our Samsung RF197 from Brands Inc. for $1,208 including shipping. Projected date of receipt was 10 day, we had it in 7. They have warehouses all across the country, so they use the closest or available stock. We had it a little less than 1 year, and we will never go back.
  3. Also, FMCA has now a partnership with a group that will look at several different companies for you. The person you talk to on the phone is paid a salary, not on commission. We did and found the quote was less than GMAC/National, but we also called our insurance agent that has our home insurance. His quote for our motor home and two autos was about $500 less than GMAC. A couple of weeks later we got a check for $75 as a reduction in premium for our home insurance. The company is Hastings Mutual. Hastings may not sell in all states, but they do here in Indiana. My recommendation is to check with FMCA and a local independent agent to see which company best fits your needs in your state.
  4. The controller is mounted in the Electrical Bay next to the Xantrex inverter/charger. It is an electrical jack system. Cannot post a picture now. The wiring is fine. The size is about #22 gauge. These are signal wires only with mini Walden-Molex connectors. The power wires are not a problem. They are about #8 gauge. The connectors to that feed the individual jacks have # 10 or #12 wire and have never been a problem. The pins for the signal lines are on the controller board and about the size of wire wrap pins.The corrosion develops between the connector and the pins. I don't have any problems with any other electrical item in this bay. The best and longest duration of satisfactory service is the present setup. Where after taking the pins off an old board and soldering them to the installed board and replacing the cable with its new connector, I coated the outside of the connector, control board and about 2 inches of the cable with clear silicon caulk about 1/2 inch thick to keep moisture out.

  6. The medical evacuation benefit called FMCAssist is being proposed to the Governing Board of FMCA at Redmond, OR in August to be provided for all members included in the yearly membership.
  7. Last year our cost was $1.17/mile. So far this year the cost is $1.39/mile. Not included in this cost is depreciation, new tires or major repair. Such as: Exhaust replacement. These do not occur every year. I can say 6 tires are about $4,000 usually replaced every 6 years and Exhaust system is $1,200 which was 8 years old. Our motor home is a 2006 with a CAT C-7, 300 HP. We travel about 14,000 miles a year.
  8. I would not be in a hurry to jump ship. FMCA is going to go to outsource the service due to about $80,000 loss per year. You would not do that either if you had that loss. Also, don't worry about getting all addresses changed all by the date of October 1st, the USPS requires that mail forwarding services continue to forward mail received for 6 months. The newer service providers offer optional services that may be of interest to you. The expense of upgrading for the limited number of members FMCA was serving was also prohibitive.
  9. I have checked several RV salvage yards to get one, too. I have not found any and have placed my name on their call if one comes in list. I have replaced 4 controllers since spring 2008 at $525 each. The weak area seems to be the 4 pin connector which is very susceptible to moisture and then corrosion. I have tried electrical grease and anti-corrosion fluid, and neither has worked. My understanding is that Atwood no longer supports or manufactures the controller. Actually it is made overseas. They have a new system that would require replacement of the jacks, controller, and front panel. If I have to do that, I will go to HWH and that cost is $5,000 installed.
  10. With Duncan all I asked for was glass made in the USA. I have not had any problems with the quality.
  11. We like to stay at Colter Bay in the Tetons with full hook ups and take day trips via auto through Yellowstone. When there take a float trip on the river through the Tetons. This is not white water just very enjoyable. The last one in the day has the best wildlife viewing.

    Irregular Tire Wear

    If the outside is cupping which is not unusual if you have Goodyear tires, the tire pressure has been consistently low. I have had Goodyear tires on 3 coaches, and had cupping on all. Starts on right front tire and then left front, but usually occurred about 40,000 to 48,000 miles.
  13. Your insurance company may have an agreement with their preferred glass company. I suggest that you contact them first. If they do not have one, we have used Duncan Systems for 4 windshields. The headquarters is in Elkhart, IN; but they have many install locations across the country. Three of my installs were in the headquarters and 1 in Perry at a rally.
  14. I agree with the conditions specified in the posts above. Additionally, there should be no charge for changing a tire or minor tire repair. Such as: Valve stem replacement.
  15. As stated before do contact RoadMaster Customer Service, but I suggest that you get the one with the cross member. We are on our forth towing system from RoadMastter and that member will prevent damage to the frame of the auto in a jack knife situation. Also, should you decide to get a RoadMaster Guardian Rock shield, the brackets for the Guardian are attached to the ends.
  16. This will sound strange, but check to be sure all your tail and brake lights are working correctly. Many cruse controls tie into the rear light circuits to enable the cruise. Loss of ground on one of them can cause a drop in voltage to cause such problems.
  17. From WalMart you can get a anti-slip mat that is used to put under area rugs. I think ours was 6 foot x 8 foot that we cut down. The mat is similar to the mats that CarlAda mentioned. These are just bigger.
  18. In Indiana, I-80, Exit 96 (last Elkhart exit on east side), is the location for the RV Hall of Fame and Museum. Large parking lot to allow RVs. Well worth a visit for about 3 hours.
  19. You can also go to FMCA.com. Look under the tab for Member Benefits. Scroll down to the Michelin program. You can then select to go to the Michelin web site to locate a dealer close to you. Not all tire dealers that sell Michelin tire are commercial fleet authorized dealers. Also , you can now get tires for autos and pickups. I don't know about trailers.
  20. I think you will find that it was a Samsung RF197. There are 3 more letters that designate the color. I have installed one in a 2006 Fleetwood Expedition and will never go back. We have had it in service for about 10 months with wonderful service. Frig hold 37 degrees an freezer -2. Ice cream so hard, we have to heat in microwave for 30-45 seconds to be able to dip. We were luck to not have to pour out "ice cream" with the Norcold.
  21. When our motor for the heater went out, I took it to Auto Zone a local auto parts store. The looked at it went in back a brought a motor that fit into the housing of my old motor and it was guaranteed for life.
  22. I have only worked with Roadmaster, but the instructions are very clear to do it your self if you have common tools. I have installed base plates on 4 autos. The worst was to drill a 7/16 hole. The first took 4 hours and the last one 2 1/2. The wiring is another story because wiring takes much longer. I do recommend using diodes vs. second light socket and bulbs in the tail and brake lights. Camping Worlds will do either or both, but may be pricy.
  23. What Herman states is correct, but the newer pumps that should be in your 2011 are supposed to be able to run dry without damage. I think from the what you stated you are traveling with no fresh water. We always travel with some fresh water. Long trips at least 1/2 tank, and short trips 1/4 tank. You will never know when you will need some water especially with young children, or in an emergency to add water to the radiator.
