110 electric 12/2 line replacement
rossboyer replied to EY8675@GMAIL.COM's topic in Type A motorhomes
Several years ago, I had the same problem on a little older motor home with Magnum chassis. Found a metal junction box under a cabinet that had flexible wire going out to the slide out. The wire was shorted at the metal box. As I remember I had to remove the bottom of the cabinet to get to the box. -
When looking at your picture, it looks like you have a tow dolly, not a tow bar. A tow dolly supports the two front wheels of your towed auto. A tow bar uses adapters attached to the frame of the towed auto with an attached bar(s) to the RV. The bar may be semi-permanently attached to the RV or to the towed auto.

Yes, they are 120vac, but most RV fluorescent fixtures convert 12vdc to 120vac to be compatible with standard fluorescent light bulbs.

The benefit states that you may find a lower cost from a different supplier in your area. I bought Firestones for more than $100/tire lower than the benefit, but that is where I live. Bridgestone owns Firestone. Top of the line Bridgestone design are used on Firestone one or two years later. My first motor home had Firestone tires, so I was comfortable in using them. They have been running for about 9,000 miles without any problems. Go to the Advantage dealer and ask if there is a different manufacturer that has tires that are suitable replacements.

TechConnect no longer unthrottled all the time
rossboyer replied to raypesek's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
You can have their number with a letter ‘S’ to indicate Son, but not use just their number. -
Our year will be different, also. Probably, less than 2,000 miles, and about 6 campgrounds at chapter rallies. Gone are the 20,000+ mile years. May this year be better than last for you and yours!

Where did you go last year?
rossboyer replied to wildebill308's question in Destinations/Attractions
14 states, 15 campgrounds, 5,000+ miles in RV and 3,000+ miles via auto. -
Just an Update. i have removed DirecTV. Installed a RoKu Premium which is a sound bar and RoKu interface to/from TV via HDMI. $99. Much better sound. Does require internet. Total monthly cost is less than DirecTV including internet, PBS, and Netflix. We have Amazon Prime, so no additional charge. We won't be going back to DirecTV.

This is very true. I installed three led lights. One had the color of wires reversed from the other two.

Are there any other 12vdc devices on the same circuit? Maybe exhaust fan? If so, are they working? Maybe a loose connection in that circuit that opened due to the accidental short.

Most auto parts stores sell double sided tape to attach trim and molding. Great it is removable with great difficulty. I had to remove my small FMCA logo off my towed auto when I traded. Cut through the center of the tape. It is thick. Then I was able to peal the remaining tape from the rear window and the logo.

How Do I Check Data Usage?
rossboyer replied to Cc0951's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
Thank you for correcting the IP: address. When I had mine, I changed the address, added security of only the MAC addresses of the devIces I would allow. I know that isn’t in the realm of normal users, but I did network and user support before I retired. Since our lifestyle has changed to less long distance travel, I returned that device and have added more robust internet service for our home. For the short weekend trips our cell phone data plan works well for us. -
How Do I Check Data Usage?

If I remember correctly, in your web browser enter 192.168.10.1. Login as admin and use password that was given to you, may have been on a label on bottom. Look through the menus to find the usage. -
If you decide to have an outlet wired, I suggest that you install a three outlet campground type box with breakers. The outlets would be 50 amp, 30 amp and 20 amp ground fault. I think they are about $100-150 at big box stores. The wire from you main panel will probably cost more , but once done you will have electrical service for future RVs.

Tech Connect not responding
rossboyer replied to robfmca's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
I understand that Jason has left FMCA, but does do contract services for FMCA. That is why I posted the general answer to let the receptionist route the call. Who knows when someone is on vacation or that a different employee can assist. -
The answer is it depends. What items are you going to have on? If you are only charging the batteries, a #12-3 extension plugged into a 20 amp outlet would probably be enough if within 25-30 feet. Be sure that the outlet you plug into does not have other loads on it. Also, avoid a GFI outlet, some don’t like RVs connected. If you plan on operating a space heater, go up to a 30 amp extension and have a 30 amp outlet installed. Even if an electrician installs it, check the voltage between all the terminals to be sure it has not been wired as 240 volt not 120 volt you need.

Call 513-388-5217. The receptionist should answer. Ask her to direct your call to the person that handles problems with Tech Connect. I think it is the Membership Department, but I am not sure. -
If you have the FMCA app, when it opens tap on the Forums button to open the Forums also works. Additionally, when talking to someone about joining FMCA, the benefits button is easier to use than the magazine to help in convincing.

Question about the Alcatel Linkzone2

Yes, get out a magnifying glass and look on the 120v plug end. Probably, it is 5 watts. The one supplied is 15 watts if I remember correctly. Since we are not traveling across the country anymore, the 60gb hotspot on our phones is enough to stream while at a chapter rally. At home we have Verizon wifi network that is unlimited and runs 30-50gb. So we canceled and returned equipment. -
Question about the Alcatel Linkzone2
rossboyer replied to twotwistedlimes's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
Herman is correct. It happened to mine. I installed a new battery and charged it to 100%. Then I used one of those little white cube chargers that came with an old cell phone. That charger's output was just enough to maintain without overheating to damage battery, so I could then leave it on charge 24/7. -
This is true, but remember that WD-40 is really a cleaner and doesn’t privide lubrication. Since HWH states that you can use Automatic transmission fluid in their hydraulic system, you could after cleaning us it sparingly to lubricant.

I have my jacks down. Will not be using motor home until next May. So 7 months all together.

So, is the problem that the top doesn’t fit between the seaty to make the bed? Another post stated that the top should fit on cleats If the cleats are missing orneed to be extended, buy enough 1x2 pine at a big box store. Cut to length and screw it to the seats allowing for the top to drop level.
