Yes...there are differences in the quality of glass. OEM vs aftermarket. The problem with glass replacement insurance coverage is that unless you have a specific rider on your policy, insurance will only pay for an after market windshield if the vehicle is more than 2-3 years old. OEM windshields are considerably more expensive than aftermarket. There are also differences in installation practices. When it comes to glass, you will get what you pay for if you're working with a reputable company.

You need to use the weight of the truck loaded like it will be when towed. Full fuel tank and any items you will be carrying. Example, some may load a four wheeler or golf cart in the bed bed of the truck. The best thing is load the truck the way you think you will tow it and get it weighed. I'm confident you're going to need the 10,000 lbs tow bar. Next question: is your motorhome rated to tow that much weight? I'm not talking about the hitch rating either.

I assume the steering wheel lock is in the unlocked position and the correct fuses are either pulled or by-passed.

Thanks for the follow up, Ivy. You indicated the rubber hoses were replaced, did they also replaced the metal fuel hose? It could be plugged. I've seen a short piece of rubber hose used to make an odd bend in fuel lines, is there a kink? Keep us updated please.

Pull the cover off the thermostat, pull the fuse for 30 seconds, replace and resume cooling. Most likely RF interference from a fluorescent light.

Be advised the wind will be strong coming off the gulf so the closer to the water, the more to deal with.

I was at the Freightliner Service Center in Gaffney earlier this week and there were several owners having alignments done. The key for a correct Freightliner chassis alignment is the ride height must be within spec.

BTW, Ivy, has the Workhorse chassis brake recall been completed? Have you recently changed the brake fluid? Are the tires less than 7-8 years old, regardless of the tread? I'm only mentioning this because low mileage on older motorhomes raises several red flags.

Clue: Replaced all fuses and now it works. I'm assuming you replaced the fuses with new fuses but if thats not the case disregard this post. You indicated the "fuses looked good". I've seen fuses that looked good but a meter indicated otherwise.

11 year old rig and 11,000 miles. Have you changed the fuel filter recently? How fresh is the fuel? How often is it started and driven? 1000 miles per year is not much which suggests the gas tank could have trash, water, etc. Bio fuels have a tendency to destroy rubber fuel lines and becomes unusable after just a few weeks.

Interesting you mention tucking in behind a truck. I've driven in some hard rain the last two days and yesterday noticed how hard it was to see so many of the trucks (really the trailer) in front of me because they are white, even with their lights on. I estimated 200' was about it. For me, that is about as close as I want to be tucked behind a truck in bad weather. I had a Country Coach towing a Chevy Silverado pass me yesterday in a hard rain. I was going 55 and estimated him going 70. We saw three major wrecks between Vicksburg and Birmingham and my guess they were all speed related. Spins. My Michelin dealer told me about a month ago that all the tires that Michelin can manufacture are going to the motorhome chassis builders. He has two customers that have been waiting 3 months for tires.

I never thought I would need a storage building larger than 40' x 50' either but I never thought I would need to store two Jeeps, a Chevy Silverado pu and a golf cart, well I did know about the pu. I sure wish it was 50' x 60'. All I was suggesting is while you're installing an outlet why not spend a few extra dollars and know you'll always be covered. Heck, I managed for years on a 20amp circuit but I sure enjoy being able to run the ac while we're loading for trips since we have 50amps available. It was only a suggestion and maybe to some its a foolish suggestion.

You may want to consider installing a 50amp outlet. You may someday have a RV that uses 50 amp service and you'll be glad you have the outlet. You would need a 50 amp male to a 30 amp female dogbone pigtail adapter. The only price difference would be in materials, the labor should be about the same. Personally, I would also be looking for a different electrician.
