    ISX Cummins engines

I binged "Cummins ISX problems." This is what came up: http://www.bing.com/search?q=cummins+isx+problems&qs=AS&pq=cummins+isx&sk=AS2LS1&sc=8-11&sp=4&cvid=1394EA2F1B57432DBFA23435D7589DFD&FORM=QBLH
  3. Joe, some of my "Mom and Pop" comments may have been confusing. When in the MH looking for a M & P...it's a big rig M & P. All are drive through (no unhooking the toad), easy in easy out, no over head limits and sell lots of fuel. In my part of the country there are lots of big rig fuel stops that are not Pilot/FJ or Loves.
  4. I've been having trouble getting all the lights on the rear of toad to work...14 CRV. Been in the shop twice. A friend suggested getting a kit and putting in separate bulbs and wiring for the toad lights. Any suggestions as to where I can find such a kit appreciated. Thanks.
  5. I'm pretty flexible with refueling. The advantage of Pilot/Flying J is you know were they are (and I have a card)...I don't do Loves, PITA more than once. The advantage of Mom and Pops are cheaper and fewer lines.

    Shocks

Speaking of shocks, my Eagle brochure says it has "custom turned Sachs shocks." Anybody ever heard of Sachs...or did American Coach go with the lowest bidder?

    House Batteries

It's pretty bad when we have to try to outsmart a battery. Last week I got a new charger to carry in the MH if I ever need it for one reason or another. It says it can handle all types of batteries...AGM, GEL and wet cell. I just have to press the correct button...AGM in my case.
  8. JMHO, but Good Sam and Coach Net are a toss up...AAA is good for smaller vehicles, not big MHs. I have GS, used them once, they did fine...it was a RF blow out.
  9. When you fill out the paper work at Kelly Blue book and similar publications to sell a MH, if a diesel, they say to leave the mileage blank...doesn't make any difference.
  10. Blake...assuming you have a Cummins, get the serial number and call them. They'll have all the engine data.

    House Batteries

As usual, lots of good advice from Brett. Point of clarification on the chargers. Get one that will automatically shut off when the batteries are fully charged...then it won't damage them.
  12. I'd call Power Gear, they are very helpful.
  13. Good point. I clean and lube my steps once a month. If they are not cleaned and lubed, they will not work.
  14. I volunteer at a non profit retail store. We have some high dollar items for which we ask top dollar, even though most are not worth what we ask. The philosophy is that we can always come down...but can't go up. Kind of like the RV market.
  15. We have the same one...no problems...yet. It's a standard house hold appliance, I'd call GE.
  16. Same here, most engines put in the MHs do the job. If you are set on doing this, be sure to check that the transmission can handle the extra power.
  17. Good advice. If my coach is sitting in it's storage stall, plugged into shore power, I can turn on the generator (to exercise it) without unplugging from shore power. When the generator is turned off, the coach automatically goes back to shore power.
  18. Before you move it any way at all other than driving it, I'd call Allison. Some tow operators are good, others not so much.
  19. That was my attempt at a bit of humor. I got in trouble on another forum for mentioning that a poster, who was looking for specific info for a specific brand, go to that web site, and I listed it. See my post entitled "A Warning" in the General Discussion thread.
  20. Did you guys see where the powers that be increased the dues from $50 to $60 for first time members and from $40 to $50 for renewals?
  21. I just binged (www.bing.com) "RM8H chassis" and got a couple of hits that may help. A couple refer to another forum which I won't mention so as not to get in trouble.
  22. In a previous DP we had a problem with the motor running, but the awning not moving. It was a design problem and Carefree replaced the bad parts under warranty. Our had a four year warranty...I think they've reduced that now.
  23. In May 2015 our former coach had a RF blow out on I 55 south of Chicago. Our Michelin 295/80 R22.5 replacement was $800...I guess we were a captive audience.
  24. Michelin should have a pamphlet with a chart showing the correct TP as it pertains to weight for your specific tire.
  25. I've been to the REV Tech Center in Alvarado...and won't go back unless they decide to give me something for free. The only good thing there is a free CG if you are passing through and are a member of the REV group. Each space has 50 amp power and water. There is a community sewer. Just call ahead for the pass word to get in the gate.
