  1. Having the site updated as we speak. Check back on Tuesday. Earl and Doug are loading some new information and rearranging some. Look forward to answering any questions. Herman
  2. Ike, Personal carts are welcomed. You will be on private property and no special licensing is required. I am not sure about others but my Home Owners Policy covers my cart as long as it is on personal or private property and not on a public street. Many folks have both the Crickets and full size carts while some even have Segways(?). Some are electric and some are gas. The ones we rent are Gas. I bring my own cart for the DW and I am provided one for my use during the event. Herman
  3. There is a mobile RV service tech that come to most all SRA Rallies. If I am not mistaken his name is Robert. Rod Sartwell has him service his coach every year at the rally. I will get his name and post it here. I think you can make an appointment with him so he will have what filters he may need to service your particular unit. Herman
  4. Ike, Welcome to both FMCA and the Forum. With regards to the South Central, Six-State Rally in Texarkana there are some distances between the Main Building, where the vendors and entertainment will be held and where the Seminars rooms will be. However we will have both Golf Cart Trams and Trolleys running all day long and to and from the nightly entertainment. There will be Golf Carts for rent from 9:00 am on Wednesday till Noon on Saturday. The cost will be $270.00 for a 2 passenger cart and $350.00 for a 4 passenger cart for that period of time. Should you need and further information don't hesitate to send me a personal message here and I will give you my phone number. Again Welcome and I look forward to meeting you in Texarkana. Herman
  5. Joe you really need to come to the Southwest to camp. A really high class (hotoy totoy) Park will be around $60.00 where really nice parks will range between $35.00 and $45.00 per night. Lone Star has Rallies at some very nice Parks and Resorts in The $30.00 range. Come South young man come South!!!!! Herman
  6. fagnaml, You have some very valid points. If you do off raiding or tail gating take the time to ask around and find others with motor homes and maybe you could start a Chapter for off raiders and or tail gaters. In the beginning FMCA was for lack of a better term were just tailgaters aka campers getting together in a field. It would a good place to intice younger families to join FMCA. Good luck. Herman
  7. Carl, With a unit like you suggest, what happens to the condensation water from the unit? Just wondering. I know that refrigerators have a pan that catches the moisture and is evaporated by the compressors heat. Does this stand alone A/C do the same? 😯 Herman
  8. Rick, Clicking first, Beers second. 😄 Herman
  9. Thank you for your service Hooligan. 😆 Herman
  10. Joe, Sorry for the loss of your wife. Welcome home and God Bless You For Your Service to Our Country! Herman
  11. I wonder how many did Jim have to check before an empty one was found?? Herman
  12. Joyce, Welcome the the Forum. Not been to the DC area since the late 50's. But hay, we have a great covered storage facility near us, Hill Top Storage. The owners Doug and Linda Douglas are great folks. 24 hour security and 15 amp 110 volt power available. Oh, I forgot, it is Located in McKinney, Texas but heck it is only about 1,200 miles from DC. Sorry I just couldn't refuse , good luck on locating a place. Herman
  13. And you didn't heed his warning and now have Arithrits. 😢 Herman
  14. Mike, they have quite a few sites available. While you are there think about having your coach weighed they have a on site location. However if I were going to Port A, I would be going to Waco and take US 77 South.there is a Great Campground in La Grange. I believe to is call Colorado River something. In Victoria take 185 to 35 and 35 to Port A. Herman
  15. FYI, there are so many things Chapters do. Some only have 1 or 2 rallies a year. Some are in an area where they may meet for lunch or have dinners at different members home once a month. The possibilities are endless. If you need help starting a Chapter you can contact your AVP (Area Vice President).I am not sure which one is in your area but it could be either Bill Mallory Eastern Area Vice President (bmalloryfmca.com) or Tom Ziobrowski Northeast Area Vice President (tziobrowski@fmca.com). Or I will be happy to help in any way I can. Herman
  16. The Football Hall of Fame in Canton is a great place to visit. Just be aware of the hours. They have different closing times between winter hours and summer hours. Herman
  17. Joe, try and Keon, Thank you all for continuing the spirit of FMCA. It was families like the three of you that was the beginning of FMCA. Who knows, you'll could start a new chapter in your area for weekend warriors. Enjoy, Herman
  18. jrock, When I got my Golden Age card there was a one time charge of $10.00. I don't know if there is a still a charge or not. And yes Carl, an "Ole Geezer" but remember I know how old you are also. Herman
  19. Grumpy Grandpa, Welcome to the Forum. There are several way you can go. I prefer the Satellite dish. If you already have Dish or Direct at home you can used one of the receivers you have at home when you travel or you can get one for the coach. If I understand it if you a smart TV and a Smart phone with enough data you can stream TV and movies to your TV. I don't know much about this setup, maybe some one else such as Bill Adams might be the best one for this. Herman
  20. Yes and at the same time you will be able to go to Gander Mountain and pick up your new sewer hose in Camouflage. Isn't Life grand? Herman
  21. One thing for sure is if the dealer has his money from the sale (cash or finance) they won't be in too big of a hurry to correct problems. On the other hand if fixing or not fixing the unit before delivery means they won't get their money until the work is done it is amazing how much can get done. One thing for sure the RV Industry is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!! Herman
  22. Carl, cthiggy has several post on his cosch. It seems like everything thing in the coach has a problem. I think he must have told the salesperson at General RV that he knew all about Motor Homes and didn't need PDI. If he had many of his issues should have been discovered and solved before he took possession of the coach. If it were me the condition he is describing would have canceled the sale right the and there Herman
  23. Try dancing to a slower song. Sorry I couldn't help myself. Toby, Welcome to the Forum. A bit more information would help. Make and model of your coach, year, length, tag or no tag, towing or not. All of this will help you in resolving your issue. Herman
  24. The folks at Winegard are great. Give them a call and tell them your problem. They might offer you a discount on one of their units. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Herman
  25. We all must remember that the A/C compressor on a Diesel Pusher is more that 40+ feet from the evaporator. The coolant has that far to travel under the coach 18" from the hot pavement. It doesn't have a chance of a snow ball in hadies of being really cold by the time it travels that distance. When we are in the situation where we are too hot we turn on the generator, turn on the front AC and put up our curtain. We have a vent in front between the driver and passenger. We colse off the other registers and it does a nice job keeping it cool up front. However when traveling in a westerly direction into the sun in late July and August there comes that 'ole' snow ball in hadies, not much will help other than dusk. Herman
