bjeff, I got my liners from Monaco. If I remember correctly they were not very expensive. However you need to remove the wheels to be able to drill the holes in them. I had to have the wheels balanced so I took the coach to a friends shop and when they pulled the wheels I mounted the shield. It took about 10 minutes per side. Herman

Jack, Welcome to the Forum. For most folks the standard procedure is to keep both tank valves closed and to allow the Holding tank to get to at least 3/4 full. Then to drain the Holding tank first and close the valve then dump the Gray Water. This way the Holding tank will not allow solids to dry on the walls and bottom and the Gray Water will act as a flush or rinse for the hose. When you say that it is shooting water out the vent stack do you mean the vent on top of your coach? Does it happen only when the toilet is flushed? Being that it is clear but smelly appears to me to be the Gray Water. Do you only have one vent where both tanks are vented together or is there a vent for each tank? It seems that there is a back pressure coming from some where. Have you called the tank manufacturer? You might start there and see if they might have a suggestion. Herman

OK, folks lets get back to the original question. "A 30 amp RV outlet is 110 volts only NOT 220 volts." Gayle please pass this on to your electrician. Herman

I have the toe of one of my shoes, the most comfortable, that is scuffed on top of the toe where I always go around each day we travel and try to pull the door open at the bottom with my toe. Works for me. Herman

masawicki, Is it more then one door that opens while going down the road? It maybe some internal pressure on the door such as a heavy object. Are you sure that the catch on the doors are traveling all the way both in and out. I had one door that kept opening. I cleaned every moving part and lube it real good and solved my problem. I did replace all of my latches with the plastic pins with ones with the pins made out of Aluminum. Herman

How Do You Know You Are Clear To Pull In After Passing?
hermanmullins replied to kaelalynn's topic in Type A motorhomes
Chuck, as Jim said use your rear view camera (aka backup camera). When I am passing another vehicle I see it in the monitor. When it goes out of view behind my toad I will then turn on my turn signal and then begin moving back out of the passing lane. It is just one of those things that you will learn how is best for you and it will then become second nature. Good luck and happy towing. Herman -
Dana, What is the over all appearance of the coach? Does it look as if it has just been detailed to sell or does it look like it has always been cared for. Does it have high or low mileage? Some times a coach has fairly and the inside look brand new, which may mean that the coach was used mainly to travel a great deal but not lived in for very long. If the mileage is very low but the insides look worn and lived in, that is what it was mainly used for. As Brett said, check the tire pressure. If it is set to the sidewall pressure lower it to the recommended pressure. For example I would drop the pressure to around 90 psi front and maybe 95 psi in the rear then go for another test ride. Did a lot of the rattling go away?? Another thought, is the coach loaded with the owners stuff, dishes, pots and pans and so forth. If not stored properly you will think someone put several cans of marbles in the coach. My commit to you would be, that if the coach checks out mechanically, it drives straight, the price is right and you two like it go for it. If not back away and look for one that fills all of the above requirements. Hope it all works out for you'll. Herman

Mark, You may only have 2 choices. 1) Call Bill Murray and the Ghostbusters Team. or 2) Call a Priest for an Exorcism. It would be kind of like giving chicken soup to a dead man, It may not help, but it couldn't hurt. Have a good one and hope you get home safe and in one piece. Herman

Gene, Welcome to the Forum. This is the way to post a question, with all the fact. If I understand the air ride, which our coach also has, the pressure gauge on your dash give you the reading of the pressure in the air tanks for your brakes and any needed air for your bags. If you lower the pressure in the bags you are in essence lowering the coach. Your air ride suspension, I believe has sensors that keep the bags all at the same pressure and therefore keeping coach level. A call to the Monaco Tech would be the place I would start. They are still in Oregon the last I heard. They are super and will help with your questions. On their web site there is a place you can ask a question and the tech will be back to you in 24 hours or less. Herman

Sorry Jim, but I thought Geo was a discontinued Car from GM. Herman

Charles, Yes alignment can help reduce the wear to the outside of one tire. Contact Spartan and get the Alignment Specifications and take it to a truck alignment shop. If you have Independent Front Suspension then shims can be used to correct the Camber. However if you have a solid front axle then you will need a shop that has the ability to bend the axle. That is a real talent and equipment. Herman
-
Sounds Like the Camber is off on the passengers side to me. With IFS that can happen really easy but on a straight axle, is something else. Think of a shopping cart at WalMart. When you see the rear wheel worn on the outside that is the Camber. The cart has been drug to the side so many time it has bent the fork causing the wheel to wear the outside. When you have that bad wobbling front wheel that is the Caster and that will cause shaking and cupping. Herman

Lowell, I have had two Monaco coaches. Both gen. sets were in the front, one manual and the other hydraulic. Which is yours. The manual had a catch to open and close the unit while the Hydraulic has a switch in the front service panel to open and close the unit. Now this is just thoughts running through my head. Your cables may be in a bind and not letting the unit close and causing it to open until the pressure is off. The same may be happening with the hydraulic if it low on fluid. Does is slide open when you stop?? When it opens on its own can you push it closed?? On both the front cover is held on with several bolts to allow for alignment. Check and see if they may be loose. My opinion only: I try to let my holding tank get close to full before I dump. To me this keeps the walls damp therefore not allowing residue to cling to the sides, dry and then flake off and clog the valve. I always use our built in sprayer several time until it runs clear, them I will dump the gray tank. to me this helps clean the hose. When we return home I repeat the process and then rinse the hose down the drain with fresh water. I always do this and then put in a bag of chemicals into the tank when we return home. I do this to keep down any potential odors. Herman

cmarq, Just a thought. Since you have experienced several over heating problems have you flushed your brake system completely? I know it seems to be with just one brake but there may be some contaminants still in that one line. A complete system flush may help. Sorry , just a guess. Herman

Lots Of Noise From Front Sliding Windows
hermanmullins replied to john.leto@yahoo.com's topic in Type A motorhomes
John, I would inspect the complete window channel. there may be a gap that could cause the wind noise. If I was going to add any strip to the window I would be sure that it doesn't cause more noise where the weather strip would end. Putting something very thin behind the window channel might give you a better seal all around. Herman- 4 replies

BRLAtraveler, Welcome to the Forum. The best way to tow a rear two wheel drive vehicle is to have a Drive Shaft Disconnect installed. If you are in or closet to Dallas, Texas there is Drive Shaft King. David does a great job and will go above and beyond for you. Herman

Help! Can't Get The Sun Screen To Go Back Up
hermanmullins replied to kaelalynn's topic in Type A motorhomes
Chuck, just for kicks check and see if there is a pull cord at the end of your shade. If so try pulling it. Herman -
Mark, What you have is a bad solenoid. It can be found with your fuse panel. With the key on take a test light ground it and check for 12 volt power at the solenoid. There should be two cables on the solenoid. You should have 12 volts on both sides of the solenoid if not then your solenoid is defective. When you get a replacement be sure that it is a 12 volt continuous duty solenoid of adequate amp capacity. Your can get them at most auto parts stores. Let us know if that solves your problem. Herman

Lots Of Noise From Front Sliding Windows
hermanmullins replied to john.leto@yahoo.com's topic in Type A motorhomes
John, It sounds like the window is not closing completely. If your catches are engaging in the lock position you should not be able to shake it open. You may already know this, but your front fixed window will have a slot for the catch to go into to lock the window. You should almost hear a click. If your window is not closing enough you may not be engaging the slot for the lock lever. Check all of the channel on your window for some sort of obstruction. Herman- 4 replies

Help! Can't Get The Sun Screen To Go Back Up
hermanmullins replied to kaelalynn's topic in Type A motorhomes
See if you can locate your 12 volt fuse panel. there should be a fuse for the sun screen. See if you have a blown fuse. At the same time, since most companies are closed, google the manufacturer of you screen. There you may find a troubleshooting page. Good luck and Happy Fourth. Herman -
Best Smartphone
hermanmullins replied to Jurisinceptor's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
Since my last post on this subject I have upgraded our plan. We are now on AT&T Family Plan. We have 10 gb of Data for $100.00 per month and each phone cost $15.00 each per month. We went from $150.00 and only 4 gd of data to $130.00 per month with 10 gb of data. We use our phones as our Wi-Fi connection at home and on the road when Wi-Fi isn't available. This works for us. I also just up graded to the Asus Smart Phone. It has Android OS and it came with a Tablet. It will add about $23.00 per month to your account for 24 months. However the person that was setting me up asked if I was a Veteran. Saying yes I was able to get a 15% discount off my monthly bill. That came to a little over $15.00 per month so my new phone ended up costing me about $7.00 per month, that I can live with. Is AT&T the best provider out there? Maybe yes, maybe not, but it has always served our needs. May each of you have a Safe and Happy Forth. Herman -
ronbeck, That would depend on what type unit you would like. You didn't say which Avalanche you have. I have the Blue Ox tow bar and base plates on our 2008 Silverado. I installed both myself. My unit has removable pins so when not being towed you can't see any thing on the front. Don't forget the lights and braking unit. I have the M & G Engineering Brake unit and I got my wiring kit from Camping World, which I installed myself. With either Blue Ox or Roadmaster, you can have either tuned up at most Area Rallies and at Nationals. Herman

Lyle, Sorry you got your windshield cracked twice. We had a bad, non repairable ding in our one piece windshield. Went through one company close to home and finally gave up and called RV Glass Solutions. They are an advertiser in the FMCA Magazine. Sally took my information and called my insurance adjuster. Sally got back to me that day to let me know they were going to ship the windshield to a company close to us, and they would install. The timing was wrong since we were on our way in two days to Perry. Sally said "no problem, we will take it to Perry and install it there". They installed it in Perry without a hitch. I would recommend them any time. RV Glass Solutions 888-777-6778 RVGlassSolutions.com Herman
