  1. Puff, this is just a thought. Since turning the bulbs around seems to temporarily fix the problem, might it be corroded contacts and pins. Herman
  2. Robbert, In the seven years we have owned our coach I have replaced two controllers. With the first I had a head light problem. Replaced it and the lights worked fine. On the second one I had no horn. Called VIP (Vehicle Improvement Products) and the tech walked me through the test prochedure. It would not hurt to give them a call. I believe the address is http://www.vipwheels.com/ Let me know what you find. Herman
  3. astmi, There is a check valve in your pump. Inexpensive and an easy fix. Herman
  4. Robert, Welcome to the Forum. Fuse OK, Relay? Smart Wheel Controller? I know a lot of folk are tired of my reference to the Smart Wheel. However The controller controls the Horn, Cruise Control, Wipers and Lights. Herman
  5. Side Note: Here in Texas, QT is building Convenience Stores with very nice Truck Islands. They have very nice selections of snacks and very good coffee. They also have a card that works well for Rvers. It is called, "QT PUMPSTART Card". It allows you to fill up then go in and pay. This eliminates your C/Card from stopping at $100.00 and you have to recycle and run another $100.00 and so on. We will be there this AM for fuel and coffee (maybe a donut or sweet roll). Herman
  6. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ALL STATES LICENSING REQUIREMENTS ****Check out the January 2015 edition of Family Motor Coaching, pages 196 to 200. MOTORHOME REGULATIONS. It's a State by State listing showing each States information on Motorhomes including license requirements.**** Herman
  7. Welcome to the Forum, You are correct about Texas. There are several down in Nacogdoches (nac-a-doe-chez), Foretravel and Extreme Graphics. One thing I would do is check with several large truck shops or dealers. They will have knowledge of a good collision shop. If you visit several you can get a consensus as to who you might go to. Also your insurance company might have some suggestions. If all else fails come to TEXAS. Herman
  8. Keith, Think of the tow bar at that much of an angle as ramps. They do make adapter that will raise you receiver up quite a bit. I would look to see how much it would take to get the Tow bar within 2 to 3 inches of level. To get such an adapter I would check with an Off Road shop. Herman
  9. Capt. Here is the procedure that I use when leveling my coach, I have air leveling not jacks, but should apply to either. 1) I first make sure the coach is in the right position for Connecting Water, Sewer and Electric. 2) Then I dump my air. 3)I them select level on my HWH pad. 4)After the system indicates the coach is level I then deploy the slides. This way the slides are not in a bind. 5)Then repeat step 3 of the leveling process. I found out the hard way that if I don't dump the air and the front end raises another several inches the DW is up set with that first or last step depending on which way you are going. We all know the saying "When the DW isn't Happy?" Herman
  10. Mike, Many good Ideas here. If you get to where you have to jack up the rear to inspect the Parking Brake, try to shift it with the rear wheels off the ground first. As Rich said be sure you have the front wheels BLOCKED before you jack it up. Good luck and let us know what you find. Herman
  11. John, we towed a Wrangler for several years behind our 28 footer gas coach. It had a 454 Chevy. engine. towed just fine. We have a Roadmaster tow bar that I was able to attach to the front of the Jeep. The Wrangler, due to the front end makes for an easy mount. With and talent most any one can mount a set of base plates. Good Luck Herman
  12. CaptBMF, Your tag axle should be down before you level. The tag is there to help with both weight distribution and stability. Both needed for proper leveling. Herman
  13. Mike, by any chance with the unit parked on a slight incline or decline when last parked? If so and the unit was put into park, let off the brake pedal then put into park then the shifting pall may be in a bind. Herman
  14. 10-4 dd69, Unfortunately my wheels are not coated. I can get them to an almost mirror finish but each wheel took about two hours each to get them that way. Since I got them to the nice finish it doesn't take that long. But the big thing now is that with bad knees I can't get down to do a very good job. So now I will scrub them with RV soap and water then make sure they are dry. Now if you have a little free time and are in the vicinity you could stop by and give an ole man a hand. Herman
  15. Ron, try http://www.rvparkreviews.com/. There you might find a park that meets you needs. While in Chicago don't miss the Museum of Science and Industry and the Navy Pier. While going through Missouri and like to check out RV stores try Colaws RV Salvage in Carthage. Also stop in Springfield, MO at the Origional Bass Pro Shop. Running stream, large fish tank and much more. The kids will like it. Safe trip. Herman
  16. Ron, Try http://www.rvparkreviews.com/. There you might find a park that meet your needs. The Museum of Science and Industry is awesome. Also take in the Navy Pier if you have time. If you need anything for your coach stop by Colaws RV Salvage in Carthage, Mo. Have a good trip this summer. Herman
  17. My preference is the M & G Engineering unit. Have had one on three different Vehicles never a problem. I have gotten so good that I install my own. However there are some very good portable unit on the market but they must be installed and used properly. Happy New Year. Herman
  18. Kimnjoe, You might also try cleaning each battery post and cable connection. Dirty cable might have enough connection to read amperage but not carry a load. Herman
  19. Ron, Looks very nice. It appears that you are as good a carpenter as a photographer. Happy New Year
  20. Sound like a lot of Smack, Smack, turn around till you get home. Herman
  21. Pam & Tobe, As said, Welcome to the forum. As Rich said you may have either a fuse blown or a low beam relay that has gone bad. If neither then it may be in your Smart Wheel Controller. You can contact Vehicle Improvement Products at vipwheels.com. The techs are very easy to work with. Herman
  22. Looks to me like the under lament is OSB. Are you going to put down a vapor barrier? Herman
  23. emmclem, I took my Goose Egg to Fast-Signs and had decals made. I have one made that would adhere to the outside and one that would adhere to the inside of my windshield. Displayed with no holes. I also had several smaller ones made for my truck and golf cart. These work for me. Herman
