Bob, Welcome to the Forum. The simplest solution for your problem would be to install a charge wire in your 7 pin connector. With your key in the accessory position does it record you mileage? I have several other solutions but some folks don't agree with them. Herman

jcann, Sorry there was a mix up with your order. Kelly Mold is one of FMCA's best vendors. I am sure a call to them would clear up the matter. I'm sorry but "rip-off" is a bit harsh. Herman

Recommendations For Used Class A Gas 2007 - 2010
hermanmullins replied to AlbertaWinterTexan's topic in Buying an RV
AlbertaWinterTexan, Welcome to the Forum. If you find a coach that fits your desires go for it. If the Mfg. is out of business it is not a bad thing. If you look at the coach, the shell is the only thing the Mfg. made. All the rest are outside purchases. AKA, windows, Engine, Transmission, appliances and so on. Please don't reject some of those wonderful coaches that can still give you years of service and enjoyment. Find what you like and go for it. By the way, Welcome to Texas even if it's just for a few months each year. Herman -
Marty, How much fuel do you have in your tank? Less then 1/4th and it will not start. That is a safety feature so you wont run out of fuel. Herman

Best Roads Buffalo, WY To Yellowstone-- Through Cody?
hermanmullins replied to florist8146's question in Destinations/Attractions
florist, I understand the concern with the steep grades. But Cody to the East entrance is not really a bad trip and Cody is a must stop. Buffalo Bill's Center has to be one of the best we have been to. Now when entering the East side there are some curvy road and a couple of hairpin curves they weren't bad when we were there. By the way when at Rushmore go back at night that is one spectacular sight. Have a great trip, Herman -
Unless the plug was wired wrong you can get 220 volt at your 50 amp plug. In as much as you have two 110 volt legs, one neutral and one ground. Your two outside vertical blades (leg 1 and leg 2) are 110 volts. the top blade is the neutral and the bottom (round pin) is the ground. If your electrician wire your plug in this manner her did it correctly. I would make sure that he did use the correct breaker. What I am saying it that before you blame the Electrician I would make sure it is wired correctly (not his problem) or incorrectly (his error). Sorry for your problem. Have a long discussion with your Insurance Company. Herman

We have had a dishwasher in all three of our coaches. I am the driver and dryer while my wife is the washer and passenger. This works well and doesn't take up and storage space however some time it still get tight when the slide is in. But heck at our age it is a time to get close. Herman

Larrydyork, I am assuming that you are talking about what you see when looking at your camera monitor. Maybe your monitor is set for daylight. Check and see if the monitor is set on daylight or night. This may help. Herman

Best Towed Car Braking System
hermanmullins replied to handh1978's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Dun, Most every vehicle will have some glitches in setting up to tow. Battery drain, you can set up your cable with a charge line (7 Pin Connector). Brake system, there are several choices, SMI makes a very good unit. On yours it may take the removable cylinder, however it is a good unit because once it has been installed properly then you never have to adjust it. Lights are a very easy fix. You or a good RV shop can install diodes with a wiring harness and then all you have to do is plug in. Life is simple. As Clint Eastwood said, "Adjust, Adapt and Over Come." Good luck and keep us up on your progress. Herman- 87 replies

bmmoverbay, I don't know of any State or National that could handle a 65' plus unit. Plus a 20 foot trailer is close to 25' long, including the tongue and hitch and would be over the limit for most states. However you do see some on the road. There are some campgrounds that have 75 to 80' sites but I would expect them to be few and far between. At both Area and National Rallies they have designated areas for trailers and dollies. Herman

Sorry, Carl after that remark, my mind is going like mad with retorts. So I will just say to follow Rich's suggestion and check for guests before crawling into bed. Herman

Jim, welcome to the Forum. Your step has a air cylinder to operate the cover. It sounds like the mounting stud has broken. It is is a difficult repair but can be done. The cover needs to be removed. The cylinder is attached to the leading edge and has two air lines that must be removed. The cylinder is about 20+ inches long and is secured with a stud in the rear of the tray. To repair mine I made my own stud. Good luck, Herman

What Is The Best Way To Stay Connected Online?
hermanmullins replied to tbutler's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
Sean, Welcome to the Forum. What Jim meant to say that what the lady posted might be seen as an advertisement of a product and or service. On the FMCA Forum Ads for product or services are not allowed. There is a moderator that follows all post that are brought to his attention, and he will decide if it falls into either category. I am sure he didn't mean to slam the post. Still welcome to the Forum we hope to see your question, answers and comments. Herm -
Jamie, When is your coach registration due? If say if in April, when you go for your registration, take the copy of your inspection with you and you will get your registration sticker that includes your inspection. Also in the future you will still have to have your vehicle inspected, within 90 day before Reg. is due, but will not have a sticker put on. When you register your vehicle you will have one sticker with both registration and inspection combined. Herman
-
Taking Carl's statement a bit farther, folks outside of Texas may not know that in Texas you may have an inspection sticker due in one month and your registration another. With the new law a vehicle must be inspected within ninety before the registration is due. You will take your receipt for the inspection to the registration office where you will receive your registration sticker. After all inspection are on line your inspection will be in the system the same as your insurance information. Motorhome inspections in Texas cost $14.75. Herman

As Brett asked what are your tire pressures. Where is the most wear, Center or Outer Edge? Too much pressure and the tires will wear in the middle of the tires while too little pressure will result in outer edge wear. Also too little pressure in the tag axle will reduce the wear on the tag tires and increase the wear on the drive tires. If you can have each axle weighted then you can have the correct pressure set for the tag. Brett or Rick, do either of you know where kortan01 may find the chart for calculating tag axle pressures? gmaples,, What set up do you have for your lights? As Brett said if your charge line is properly wired you should not have this situation. Do you have a good ground between the toad and the coach? If not run a ground wire with the hot from the coach to the toad. That being said if you have the toad key in the on position and have auto lights they will come on at dusk and then your lights will defiantly discharge your battery. Herman

Don, You said that your batteries are 5 years old. You may be getting to the end of their lives. It appears that they have served you well and are continuing to try to serve. You are doing all the right things for the batteries. How do they look, do any of the sides look to be bulging? Older batteries will expand due to pressure inside while charging. It may be time to consider retiring them to a nursing garage and replacing them with new upstarts that are young and ready to get to work. Herman

hermanmullins replied to debay's topic in Buying an RV
Greg, Welcome to the Forum. Goggle Roadmaster Trailing Arm Recall. There was one for some coaches without tag axle. However since Monaco went into bankruptcy and was then sold two times, the recall is no longer covered. Search the Forum under Chassis for Roadmaster recall. There are a lot of comments and information. Herman -

Purging Contaminants From Water Lines
hermanmullins replied to larrydyork's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Larry, A very simple way to inject Bleach into your tank is to connect your water line to your coach then fill the hose with bleach then hook it up to your faucet and fill the tank. your may want to move your coach back and forth several times to mix the bleach. Then run water through all the faucets as said till each, hot and cold, smells of Bleach. Let the water sit in the lines and tank for a while, then drain the tank with fresh water and flush the lines. I my self would fill, flush and drain several times. Also remove your filters before flushing and when finished replace with new filters. Herman -
aboeck3 I am involved with the South Central Area, Six-State Rally Association and am a Volunteer in Parking for National Rallies. One thing that is a problem is where to park tow dollies. Herman

Towing A Lifted 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
hermanmullins replied to gelo.keith's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
John, The off road bumper shown in your picture should be able to have base plates made and attached in some way. If I remember correctly Blue Ox or Roadmaster makes a bolt on base plate. It would require drilling holes in the bumper. But if the wench attached to the bumper can pull the jeep out of mud a hole or over boulders it should be strong enough to tow the Jeep. Check with the Bumper Manufacture and with Blue Ox or Roadmaster. Herman
