  1. rl, Tell your friend that this is a case for a complete boat cover. One that will cover at least down to the water line. Also his major sponsor might foot the cost for needed licenses. By the way does "Off and on again fulltimer" mean you still have a stick home but travel quite a lot? Good luck and safe travels. Herman
  2. emmaclem, Welcome to FMCA and the Forum. Your family has just jumped in size by over Eighty Thousand, but don't worry, you don't have to send them all a Christmas card. Again Welcome. Herman
  3. One of my friends had the same problem. He had a tech at his house search for almost 8 hours before finding a burnt fuse. The fuse was under the dash in a bundle completely taped up. It was a 1999 Beaver Thunder Patriot. In my youth working in a garage as a mechanic, I made a remark that still stands after 50+ years, "No person should be allowed to design and automobile, and now, a motor home until they have spent 5 Years working on them." I had no cruise control on my Silverado and found (was told by the Chevy parts man) that I have a bad Brake light switch. Changed it out and wala, I had cruise control. Herman
  4. Carl, I think the word you are looking for is "Sedated". Herman
  5. Tireman, Thanks for the insight on tire maintenance. However you have dispelled all of what I do to keep my tires looking clean and looking nice. What are your thoughts on Brite-White cleaner, spray on, a soft bristle brush and coach washing soap with a sponge? Herman
  6. Carl, At 2:46 AM even the Forum is asleep. Herman
  7. Action J, You may have a very simple problem and easy to fix. When you blew out your water lines you may have broken and dislodged a piece of one of your washers. I would start at the water heater outlet and go forward. I would almost bet that you will find a piece obstructing your hot water line. Just my thought and I'm sticking with it. Herman
  8. Carl, Being 6'9" in our old bunk beds would have put you bending double. Merry Christmas, will contact you after your cruise, have a good one. Herman
  9. To all of the new friends I have made here on the Forum and to the ones I have conversed with over the years, May each and every one have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Years. Hope each and every one is able to be with friends and Loved ones. To all of our Service Men and Women around the around the World, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and THANK YOU. Herman Mullins
  10. Elgin, I can not speak for the industry but I can on our first coach. We had bunk (aka twin beds) in our coach and they were shorter the standard. I am 6' 2" and the bed was too short for me. It is a good thing I sleep on my side or we would have to had traded it off just after we got it. My suggestion would be to try several coaches before you buy. I do know that as of now if you are buying new you will have to special order Bunk/Twin beds and I don't know if you can get them then. You may find a nice pre owned coach with Bunks, Twins. I do know Bunks will not have a very good trade in or resale value. Good Luck and Merry Christmas. Herman
  11. To all of the "nut busters". I have a suggestion for a few News Year Resolutions for us all of us. Thank a Veteran at least once a day. Try to help someone when you see they need help or guidance. Hug someone everyday. It wont cost you a penny and will give someone a lift including yourself. May each of you have a wonderful and MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR. Be safe and hope to meet each of somewhere down the road. Herman & Bobbie
  12. biz, your are correct about the Farm to Market roads in Texas. However US Hwy 69 runs through Whitewright, Texas where we live. It comes out of Denison, South into Whitewright. There is an overpass of just 14' 4" then a stop sign with a left turn towards Greenville, Texas. Just a half mile on south from the stop sign is another 14' 4" over pass. Both over passes are just a couple of feet wider then the two lanes. Many MHs come through here and you can always tell the first timers, they really slow down. Merry Christmas Herman
  13. Brett, Thanks, I assume that all of the turbo and exhaust are on the same side of the engine as the muffler. So I should look between the Turbo and muffler for a flap valve. If I don't find one then I may (?) assume that I have a compression brake, right? Herman
  14. Ray, Thanks for bringing up this topic. I thought all along that I had a Jake Brake (engine) on my ISL 400 Cummins. I find out after reading your post and checking with Cummins, that I have a Jacobs Exhaust Brake. That being said does anyone know where I might look for mine. It is on our 2002 Monaco Dynasty. I have excesses under the bed, on the step between the bed and closet and one in the closet. After I find it will it move by hand if it isn't frozen? If not frozen should I use spray all over or just on moving parts? If frozen will the Hi-Temp spray penetrate all parts or should I use a penetrate first and when it will move change to the Hi-Temp spray? We have owned the coach for 7 years and have never lubed the Brake. FYI my brake is activated by a switch on the floor board to the left of the steering column. Herman
  15. The first week in December 2014 one of our chapter members had almost the same problem as in the OP. Three Christmas Rallies on a row he has had problems with his coach. This year he had one brake that pulled his coach to the left and the brake got so hot it almost started to burn. His coach a Monaco Knight had a crushed brake hose on the front left. The pressure when applying the brake was enough to stop but there was not enough pressure released to release the caliper. A very good shop worked over time and had to go into San Antonio to get a brake line made. Although he had to replace the caliper and pads, and also flush the system, due to the heat he can now Stop and Go without any problems. Herman
  16. Steve, I believe Rand McNally has an Atlas that has bridge heights listed. I also have heard there is a app for the same. With either, I would want to plan each day of travel ahead so as to not be surprised. I am sure you will get some better answers before long. Enjoy, there are some wonderful thing to see and visit on the back roads. Herman
  17. freestoneangler, Here is a company that might have or be able to find what you might like. The company is Motorhomes of Texas, owned by David and Emily Robinson, in Nacogdoches, TX. Take a look at their web site and if interested contact them and ask for Mel Cordray. Mel can help with a coach in their inventory or might be able to locate a coach that meet your needs. www.motorhomesoftexas.com Good Luck and have a Merry Christmas. Herman
  18. As many have said and many more will, "Welcome to the Forum". Have you joined FMCA? If so have you checked out joining a chapter? If not look up your area in the members column for chapters in your area. It is a great place to meet new friends and RV'ers. Safe and memorable adventures. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Herman
  19. 1031, I have mention this before about the Smart Wheel. There are lots of items in a coach controlled by the Smart Wheel Control Box, one is the air horn. It also controls the Head lights. It is made by Vehicle Improvement Products. I don't have their number but you can get it from their web site, vipwheels.com. They can give you several test to find out if your controller is bad. Their techs are easy to work with. Good luck, Herman
  20. Bill, Life is about change. So I hope the best for you. Keep in touch with all of the folks here and drop a line now and then. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and GOOD LUCK. Herman
  21. ehoger, As Brett said you have several questionable areas. Wandering, can be caused mostly by Toe-in. Too much of either, In or Out, will cause the unit to continue to try and correct itself, aka Wandering. Vibration and clunking noise, can be caused by bad Tie Rods or a bad Idler Arm. Either can cause the clunking and vibration. Both should be looked at ASAP by a Heavy Truck Garage with alignment capabilities. Herman
  22. John, Welcome to the Forum. Good looking coach and I can understand your delight if you were pulling that trailer with a 36 foot gas rig. Herman
  23. Mike, contact your coach mfg.'s parts dept. They should have a replacement ladder. Also Contact PPL in Houston, they have access to many parts. Herman
  24. I always amazes me that when the price of oil goes up the cost of oil based products goes up immediately. But let the price go down and it take some time for the products to go down and some never go down. Thanks Todd for keeping the Family Members up to date. Herman
  25. rhuggett, Welcome to the Forum. Do you have a smart wheel Steering Wheel? If so contact tech support at vipwheels.com. I had the same problem and it turned out to be the Vehicle Improvement Product control box. Herman
