  1. Then an dually towing a three axle fifth wheel towing a two axle boat would a 16 wheeler and if you count the spare for all three then it would be a 19 wheeler. And if you had to replace all the tires at one time you decide to buy a DP and rent a boat when you got to your destination. Herman
  2. pembertonltd8, Good to hear your question and thoughts on your trip. However when you type in all capitol letters it indicates one of two things, 1) you are shouting and 2) you are angry which I don't think that you meant either. Glad you are contributing to the Forum and keep those card and letters coming. Herman
  3. poppi175, Welcome to the forum. First get 4 friends and a fork lift. make sure the friends are strong because the TV is VERY heavy. This is a generalization. (A friend to help is really needed.) Most RV Analog TV's have a frame around the TV. There are wooden buttons that conceal the screws. Pop off the button carefully cause you may want to reuse them. Remove the screws and the frame should come off. Now on mine there was a board at the bottom of the TV secured by screws and a bracket on the top of the TV securing the TV to the top of the cabinet. Be sure you have help holding the TV when you remove both the board at the bottom and the screw holding the bracket to the cabinet. You will then slowly slide the TV out of the cabinet and while holding the monster remove the cables and power cord. At this point you should have the TV out of the cabinet. This should apply to both TVs, however the rear may not be at a slant like the front nor a large and heavy as the front. Save your frames as you might need to use them as filler above and below your new TVs. Good luck, Herman
  4. The use of "every" was probably a miss use. However the majority of Manufactures do belong to RVIA. This just says that they conform to certain industries standards (be it though RVIA set the standard just like ISO). Manufacturers such as Born Free has for years set their own standards to follow which has been very high for many years. I meant no disrespect to Born Free nor any other Mfg. that is not a Member of RVIA. Herman
  5. Good, then you should be able to replace your dysfunctional induction cooktop with one you like and that works. Aqua Hot units do well, but be sure to have it serviced every year by a certified tech and operate it every month for 5 to 10 minutes, yes even in the hot summer months, and you will be happy with its performance. One more thing, be sure that you have full or close to full fuel tank in cold weather. Like your gen set it will shut down when your tank get down to 1/4 or less. This is so you don't burn all your diesel and then you can't start the coach and the Aqua Hot wont run. Good luck cooking and staying warm, Herman
  6. Ron, There on the East side of 75 in Plano is a Lazy-Boy store. Check with them, they may have or be able to order what you need. As puff said be sure to check the width for space for the handle or release button. By the way Lone Star is having a Rally at Oak Creek in Weatherford April 9-10-11. If you might be interested send me a PM and I will send you the info. This invite goes out to anyone here on the Forum that might also be interested. Wildbill you to. Herman
  7. jleamont, What kind of heating to you have? Aqua Hot/Hydro Hot or Propane? Herman
  8. captenaj, Every coach has an RVIA sticker on saying the manufacture complies with certain guide line for RV manufacturing. I don't think you want to make every RV owner has his coach inspected to meet certain guide lines. I don't want to sound harsh, but the association must decide whether to allow or not allow RVs within the HOA. If you agree then you must decide whether they may or may not be parked in the drive or must be behind the front building line? Will you allow them to be seen from the street? Are you going to allow members to have a guest park on the street? If so what is the max. time or numbers of days? You as the governing board must decide what you want or don't want and have the members approve or disapprove the amendment to your HOAs covenant. Like anything that you do, you will not please everyone. One thing you have not said, what are the ordinances in the city or town where your HOA resides as to parking an RV on your property? That to will come into play in making your decisions. Herman
  9. captenaj, As Brett said There are some 30 year old coaches that are in as good of shape and appearance as a 5 year old unmaintained coach. RV parks that have the 10 year restriction in place is so they have to option to reject a coach due to condition. Many cities restrict RVs being parked for more then a certain amount of time, that must have current registration and inspections as required by your city town and or state. We have a city here in Texas, where several of our friend live, that allows you to park and store a RV on your property only if it can not be seen from the front of their property and your neighbor does not object. Your HOA has the right to put restriction in place that are approved by the home owners. I am sure that with proper guidance your association can come up with something that will be acceptable to all concerned. Use the wisdom of Solomon and it will be OK. Herman
  10. Congratulation, Now pull a Willie and get "On the road again". Herman
  11. smokeater, In your compartment in front of the wheel on the drivers side is your 12 volt fuses. On the left side wall are two solenoids. The next time you have this problem, with the key on, take your volt meter and check for 12 volts on each solenoids right hand side stud. If you do not have voltage then you have a bad solenoid. When you go to the parts house be sure to ask for a continuous duty 12 volt solenoid. Be sure they give you a continuous duty one. I have had to replace several on differ coaches. Herman
  12. Carl, Just because the tires are older doesn't mean you have to reject the coach. There are some wonderful coaches out there that have older tires on them just because the owner didn't know that tires age out before they wear out. Just figure the cost of replacement when making your offer to the coach. Also one of the thing I look at when we were seeking an upgrade was the mileage verses the interior. High mileage and beautiful interior might mean the owner used it more to travel in then stay in. Low mileage and worn interior might indicate the coach was parked much more then moved and was used to live in such as a snowbird. Neither means the coach is bad, just an indicator of how it was used by the pervious owner. Good luck on your search and go with your gut. Herman
  13. G lamp, Welcome to both of you to the Forum In my opinion the diodes is the only was to go. I have had the same diodes on three different tow vehicles. The set is a little costly in the beginning, around $80.00 for the complete set, harness and diodes. By you installing your own base plates the wiring will be a breeze. Herman
  14. RVPA, Looking for a pre-owned coach is a good Idea. The really hard depreciation have happened and as Medico said all of the new coach bugs have been worked out. Check out Motor Homes of Texas. They are in Nacogdoches, Texas. They have a great selection of pre-owned coached and you can se pictures of everything in and on the coach. http://motorhomesoftexas.com/ Herman
  15. johnmig1, You are on the right path. Fuse?, Broken or loose connection. and or dirty connection. Also unless you have disconnected the cables from you batteries for some reason know only but to God there is still current flowing into your MH. With my Dish receiver some time when we move I have to unplug the receiver for 10 or more seconds, That resets the unit and as Jackie Gleason would say "away we go". Good Luck and I hope you are back to watching your soaps soon. Herman
  16. captenaj, Welcome to the Forum. The state of Florida does not have an age restriction on Motor Homes. It is your Home Owners Association that has a restriction. And as with any rule, Regulation, Restriction or Law, you must live and abide by them and work like H*9& to get them changed. Visit with your HOA meeting and carry 8 X 10 pictures of some older motor homes that are in good shape and ask them if they can tell the difference. That may help them to understand what a nice older MH can look like. Good Luck Herman
  17. dianejohnson63, Welcome to the forum. There a number of RoadTrek member here and you should be getting a amswer soon. In the mean time you might do a chapter search for RoadTrek Chapters, I know there are several in FMCA. Have you contacted RoadTrek? Good luck, Herman
  18. Al & Susy Call Tiffin and or the Mfg. of your Cook top. If, as you said your new Phaeton, then it should be under warranty and should be repaired or replaced. Herman
  19. Roy, Look up Texans On Safari chapter under FMCA Chapters. They will have a web site to contact. Contact them and they can direct you to someone that can answer your question. Herman
  20. Chief, Let Blue OX know how well the dealer treated you. A manufacture always likes to know how their dealer preform. Sounds like they did well. If you already haven't done so a nice letter to Hitch and Weld would make their day. Companies always here how bad they did and it nice to hear how well they did. Herman
  21. Chief, Check with your coach Manufacture. You may already have a basement heater now. Some coaches have them on a basement thermostat. Herman
  22. Congratulations partsrod. It look like we were all correct (somewhat). It was Electrical. Herman
  23. musselman, As may will say Welcome to the Forum. Hope you have or will join FMCA. Your are correct, that is a good looking coach. You'll have some great and wonderful adventures to look forward to. Herman
  24. Brett, I agree just covering the bases. The power cords for the combo unit could have a loose connection in the plug its self. I have always marveled at how so many electrical items in our coaches continue to provide good service with all the bouncing and jolts we give them going down the road. Herman
