Puff, I am not familiar with the Ford but on my Last two Chevrolets I had to, Set the Park Brake, turn the key to the on position, place the transmission into neutral, put my foot on the brake and hold the 2WD and the 4WD buttons down at the same time until the red neutral light come on. Then place the Transmission back in park, release the brake turn off and remove the key(no wheel lock pin). I do however have the DW check the lights and that the wheels roll free before we depart. Sound like Ford is a little more RV friendly now. Don, Do you know if your Ford has a locking pin for the steering wheel? If so you will need the key in a position that will release the locking pin. With just the key on for the wheel you should not run your battery down, how ever if you have a braking system that requires connection the a power outlet, then yes you may run your battery down. tsheppard1958, On my dynasty there is a leveling pad. There are a Off, Raise, Dump, and an Air buttons. I do not have jacks, just the air leveling. When I park I do the following: 1) dump the air, 2) press the air button twice (at this point the 4 corner red lights will light up and an orange light will appear until that area is level) 3) I then put out the slides and repeat step 2. On your Cayman you may have jacks. If so you should dump your air first then level the coach. By dumping the air you lower the coach and the jacks do not have to extend so far. Herman

Bill, the reason you could not make the catch, was you were chasing a pink hat. Most of the time you would have seen my Orange leading a coach to the vendor area. Wish we could have visited. Will I see you in Shreveport? Herman

National RV Tropi-Cal CAT Fan Bearing Replacement
hermanmullins replied to jbringneck's topic in Engines
I also agree that a grease able bearing is nice. If you can see a zerk fitting it may get greased. If you can't, it never will. Herman -

adameve7553 Welcome to the Forum. I just had the same problem with my step. It turned out that the motor was locked. loosened several bolts and it became unstuck. My unit is a Kiwkee and I did order a new Motor and gear box. It came with every thing to rebuild the step completely. I have put it in the Chest I keep spare parts in in the bay. I will replace it should the step get locked up again. To help unlock the step you might try pulling the cotter pin and pin on the arm. This might release the bind and let the step work again. Good Luck, Herman

ultiaglide, I happen to be a tool nut. (so my wife says). So in most cases I have what I need and enough to help a fellow RVer make a repair. I have a complete Tool Box in my compartment slide. Jumper Cables, Extra Belts and Wiper Blades ( I always keep the old ones I take off just in case), extra Fuel Filters, a Cordless drill with drill bits and a Air Hose with Pressure Gauge. But as I said I am a tool nut. Good Luck, Herman

David, there is a company in El Dorado, AR that takes FMC Motor Homes and reworks their engines. Sorry I can't remember the name but a check with the chamber of commerce will get you their number. The FMC Motor Home is a Gas Pusher. Herman

John, Google Rock Guard motor home, there are several out there. There was a company that advertised in the Family Motor Home Magazine but I could not find it in the latest issue. There was also a company at the National Rally in Perry, so if you have the issue listing all of the venders you may find them there also. Herman

Short, Under 12 Foot Tall Class A Motorhomes
hermanmullins replied to jemcge28's topic in Buying an RV
Jim, You may find what you are looking for in an older Airstream or Ultrastar. However most DP will be between 11.5 and 12.5 feet but are almost always 102" wide. Good Luck, Herman -
Most of the time the ants will follow the electric into a coach. I have a bottle of flea and tick spray for dogs. I spray the water, elect. and sewer hose when we park. This may not help others but it has worked for us. Good Luck Herman

Try googleing Specific Climate Controls and try ebay. Also try some RV Salvage locations. Cowlaws in MO. comes to mind. Herman

Nancy, Sorry that you husband need the O2 so much. I am a vet. and volunteer at the Bonham VA Medical Center. There should be some way the VA can accommodate your husband. I know they can be obstinate at times. There are some nice portable concentrator on the market. Will the VA cover the cost? I know the cost of both the O2 and the concentrator. The O2 is a continued cost where the Concentrator is a one time expense. Maybe you can convince them of this. Good luck. Herman

Go to a CB shop, many truck stops have them. Have them set your antenna with an SWR meter. They will be able to set the correct length. Herman

Montie, Check out Lagoons RV Resort in Rockport. Great park with nice people. Rockport/Fulton is a nice area for dining and just relaxing. Have a great January. Herman

Blueflame, Position doesn't matter. When the tank is empty the bladder will expand to take up the space where the water will be. When you turn on the pump or connect to city water it will compressed is the space is filled with water. When the water pressure reaches the preset shut off point then the pump will shut off. In our coach, we can get at least one and some times two flushes before the pump will start. I hope I explained this well enough. One thing I have discovered is that sometimes when the city water pressure is not too high and we have left the pump on, it will take water from the tank and we will have an empty tank when we start to leave the site. I, fortunately, am able to look at our tank to see the level. Herman

f30, This may sound like a dumb question. By any chance do you have one of your compartment doors under the slide open? If so you may have an over ride switch that will not let the slide open or closed if the door is open. Herman

John, There is the Ameristar Casino RV park at exit 1A that is almost in down town. Might be difficult for a larger MH however a 35 footer might do well. There is also the River Front RV park approx. 6 Miles south at Exit 1B. Nice open park with easy excess. We stayed there for 2 nights just last month. When you depart the park going back north there is a gas station that has easy access for diesel and as good a price as you can find. (Just after you exit on 1B south there is a WalMart on your right.) Have fun with the kids in Destin. By the way did you get the Studebaker pick up bed put in the store? Herman

tdmanl1, Welcome to the Forum. When dealing with a situation such as yours be calm. Getting mad doesn't help, I should know. Be sure and document every time you visit, speak or deal with both the dealer and Jayco. Take pictures of every problem area you have. You will need all the evidence you can should you need to take them to court. You have already started the worst thing a Dealer and/or a Manufacturer can have "Bad Publicity". Good Luck, there are some very good coaches out there. Herman

Frank, If its electrical then its a head scratcher. I had the same problem with my inverter. No charging of the Batteries. Took the inverter to a shop that is noted for repairing inverters. "Mr. Mullins, I have bench tested this inverter up, down, in & out over and under, there is nothing wrong with the unit." I asked if a loose ground could be the problem? His response was possible. When I was removing the unit I noticed one ground connection where the wire nut was very loose. When I replaced the unit I made sure all connections were tight. It works like a dream now. My point is that you may just have a loose connection in your unit. Like Chicken Soup for a dead man, it may not help but it can't hurt. Herman

Jim, that might be good except that it would be advertising with no cost to the shop/dealer. It is my thought that word of mouth as well as posting your recommendations on the Readers Forum that is in the magazine each month would be a better way for your to pass on your good experiences. Herman

Planocat, We have several shops in this area that does excellent work. Blue Moon in Carrolton, National Indoors Storage and RV Repair in Lewisville, and you might also try Danny's RV Repair in Denton. Electrical Lights Hookup On GMC Terrain
hermanmullins replied to CAPKELLY's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
KK you do not need separate bulbs, just the wiring kit that has the diodes (4 ea.) and the harness. It is a very easy job and no extra bulbs or drilling required. You can get the kits from most RV stores, I know that Camping World has them and the diagram is very good. Herman -
dickzupp, Have a good truck alignment shop check the toe-in. If it is set with too much toe-out you will have constant wandering. When one wheel is going straight the other is will try to pull out and you will correct in the opposite direction and the reverse happens. Herman
