Still a lot of folks playing with our fuel monies out there. Here in MI we are still $3.88 for diesel and the State tax is only .15. I watched gas here go from 2.79 to 2.99 (day before TXgiving travel) to 2.69 2 days later. Price gouging at its finest.

If your charger charges both battery banks and has close to the same charging capacity that your engine alternator has then yes, you can use your slides while plugged in. If you have a voltage monitor on board you can watch what happens when you move the slides while plugged in. If the voltage starts to fall of quickly then it's not going to work. If the batteries hold their charge or you only see a minimal drop then you will be OK. The other consideration...as I write and ramble....is that the manufacturer wants to see more than 12V which the engine alternator likely provides when it's running (sometimes close to 14V). If that's true you might be able to force your charger into bulk mode to get the higher charge or put it into equalization mode while you run the slides in or out and then turn it off. Equalization mode will get the volts up to the 14+ range.

Installing Base Plate-- About How Much & How Hard
BillAdams replied to tetonchief's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Not sure about your car but I did the install on my Jeep and it only took me 3-4 hours. You can get the detailed installation instructions on line at Blue Ox and determine for yourself if you think you can do the work. You cannot order direct, but the dealer was able to overnight the mount in to his location at no additional charge. Who knew when I bought a Jeep I would end up being in the Detroit area in November! Had a 4-6" snow today and got to play with 4WD for the first time. How cool is this!?! Don't know how I ever drove in the snow without it. -
Black & Gray Tank Level Indicators Incorrect
BillAdams replied to brown774's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Welcome to the forum! Posting everywhere to advertise your business is highly discouraged! -
Just getting a tank clean will not necessarily get your sensors working again. I suspect the poster is talking about an All Pro Water Flow franchise and I highly recommend them, but even this may not return your sensors to working condition.

Dash Cam - Do You Have One, Would You Purchase One
BillAdams replied to JakeR's topic in Electronics
You are welcome. Since you said you wanted to be a vendor you supported my supposition that you were only here to sell a product. The fact that ad content had to be deleted also supports that supposition. You are most welcome to sell to your hearts content at one of the FMCA events, but not here. I made a living for many years selling products at the FMCA conventions and it sounds like you might have a product that would be useful to many RVers. You just can't hide behind a facade in an attempt to promote your product. Open it up, even if that means you simply answer questions asked by others, and make no bones about who you are or what your intentions are.- 24 replies

Dash Cam - Do You Have One, Would You Purchase One
BillAdams replied to JakeR's topic in Electronics
The OP is trying to sell a product. He's going to wrangle his way into your e-mail box or hint at what you should look for in a dash cam (which only his product can provide) but I will sit back and watch to see how many folks bother to answer his marketing questions.- 24 replies

While I apologize for the off-topic post, we just made the first LONG tow with our 2012 Liberty (new to us). Left Tucson on Tuesday and arrived in Detroit on Sunday (today). Never disconnected, just towed city to city and arrived 2200 miles later to an easy transfer case connection and quick start. Life is good! Now, since it's due to snow later this week I may find I like my 4X4 Jeep even more!

The problem I see with the product that Brett mentioned is that many of the power boxes I have dealt with would not have enough room for that entire box to fit into. Since the plug is attached directly to the back you need width and depth and height clearance to get that thing plugged in. Otherwise, it appears to be a very good idea. I also have the hardwired Surge Guard and it had saved me twice from improperly wired posts. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/50A-Hardwire-Surge-Guard/69523/&?&affiliateid=3274&cvsfa=2734&cvsfe=2&cvsfhu=3639353233&gclid=Cj0KEQiA-PGiBRDRz4jH9o39yZwBEiQAWCBZNaR8IpCLVefPvIYVTphdRStqLBUAZbeFE35Bg3E6P1waAq9y8P8HAQ

My problem is I need heat and my furnace is NOT making any noise. Going to have to go check it today as I am heading for Detroit tomorrow. Eileen, if you are looking for some help, you are going to give us some details. The coach information, the heater type, fuel, everything you have done to troubleshoot so far, etc. I am assuming you simply mean the air is blowing but no heat's coming out?

Refrigerator: Replacing Norcold with House Fridge
BillAdams replied to gwdoug2002's topic in Modifications
Samsung is well known to work with modified sine wave inverters. Check out the Tiffin forum if you need model numbers. My GE profile RR worked with a SMW inverter for 12 years and it's still working with my new PSW inverter. You just need to measure. If it won't fit, what do you need to modify to make it fit. You have plenty of power!!! -
The input and output pipes that connect to the valve are not securely connected to anything. Just empty the tanks and then loosen the 4 screws that hold the drain valve in place and you will be able to rotate the drain handle 360 degrees barring the obvious obstructions. You should not have to touch anything else unless you need to full remove the valve to relocate it to a more desirable angle. Even then you will not be touching the hose clamp or anything else if I am seeing the pictures correctly and understand your end objective.

New Green Technology Sewage Elimination System
BillAdams replied to JMGOLDEN's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
What I said was my engine DOES NOT create 500 degrees at idle or even high idle. That means I must be driving for hours at a time to get rid of even a portion of the waste in my tanks. Based upon your information that it eliminates 200 gallons per day, I would have to drive for 24 hours to empty my tanks. -
New Green Technology Sewage Elimination System
BillAdams replied to JMGOLDEN's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Even PopSi article says the diesel engines idle at over 500 degrees. The pyrometers on my big 'ole 8 cylinder diesel shows the idle temp below 300. Running the engine at high idle does not change that. Driving bring the temps high enough, but how long do you think I would have to drive to empty my 200+ gallon black and grey (or is it black only and I still have to deal with grey)? I really do wish the inventor the best of luck and I hope he can find a victim willing participant. -
New Green Technology Sewage Elimination System
BillAdams replied to JMGOLDEN's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
If it's the system where they pump sewage into the engine exhaust system I would think there's much to consider before anyone hooks it up to their RV. I guess you would also be required to be a full timer as there's no chance it would be a logical solution to someone parked in one location for more than a few days. http://www.popsci.com/diy/article/2011-05/2011-invention-awards-waste-water -
Houston TX-- Weather Conditions In January
BillAdams replied to kaypsmith's question in Destinations/Attractions
So, you were hoping that some prognosticator would tell you what the weather this coming January will be? The real data is the Google data. Anything else is simply speculation. -
Houston TX-- Weather Conditions In January
BillAdams replied to kaypsmith's question in Destinations/Attractions
A quick Google search will get you all the info you need but, in a nutshell, expect cool and comfortable. January average high is 63 and low of 45. The record high is 85 and the record low is 10. You really should not have any issues at all. -
Progressive glass is covered as well but you must pay the deductible. My deductible was $1000 when a trucker intentionally ran through some loose gravel on the Interstate and took mine out.

Police To Enforce Fuel Taxation In Arizona
BillAdams replied to executive45's topic in Laws and Legislative Action
An RV with an LLC license is owned by a business and I don't think you can get around that point. You would need to pay the higher price. -
Kiley Mold makes a ladder mount that allows removal when using the ladder and a non-destructive mounting option the rest of the time. Wire ties can certainly work on the ladder as well but leave room for you foot to get into the step. I am not a fan of a mount to the coach painted or gel coat surface as removal will leave an obvious mark or oval shape where it was mounted. I do like the Fast Signs option if you must attach something to your coach but I am more a fan of simply putting one sign in one of the windows (on the inside) which leaves no marks in the future.

Police To Enforce Fuel Taxation In Arizona
BillAdams replied to executive45's topic in Laws and Legislative Action
This was just posted on the Escapees website At this point, the best advice we can offer is a quote from Ryan Harding with the Arizona Department of Transportation: Arizona does have a dual-tiered diesel tax system. The issue of which tax tier one fits into comes down to whether you are using your vehicle for commercial purposes or personal leisure. RV owners who are using their RVs for personal pleasure can fill up with diesel fuel that is taxed at $0.18 per gallon. As long as it’s being used for personal use, weight limits do not apply. If the RV is being used for commercial use or the furthering of a business and weighs more than 26,000 pounds, then the driver must fill up with diesel fuel taxed at $0.26 per gallon. Any situation where the RV is being used to help an individual or a business make money can be defined as commercial use. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, an RV that is registered to a business, such as an LLC, or a musical group using an RV to travel to venues to play for money. So, to reiterate, the 26,000 pound weight limit only applies if the RV is being used to help further a business or commercial enterprise. All diesel pumps in Arizona have ADOT warning labels which direct the consumer on the specific tax rate at that pump and legal requirements for using the lower taxed fuel. If the RV owner fills up at diesel pumps taxed at the higher rate, but they qualify for the lower tax rate, they can contact the gas retailer and request an $0.08 per gallon refund. The fine for fuel tax evasion in Arizona is $1,000 or $10 per gallon pumped, whichever is greater. Thanks, Ryan Harding Arizona Department of Transportation Office of Public Information 602.712.8111 (office) news@azdot.gov (media) azdot.gov I would like to thank Greg Gerber with RV Daily Report for furnishing the above information. In summary, the information that I received in September from the Arizona Revenue and Fuel Tax Administration office was not entirely correct. Non-commercial motor homes and 5th wheels used for personal leisure are exempt from the higher fuel tax. In the meantime, we will continue to push for cleaner and clearer policies so that the general RVing public understands what they should be doing to meet the laws of Arizona. I hope this has clarified any problems with the Arizona fuel tax laws. If for some reason you fill up at the $.26 fuel tax pumps, be sure to go back inside and request your refund of the $.08 per gallon. Jim Koca Escapees Advocacy Director -
Anyone Using "Car In Tow" Sign On Toad?
BillAdams replied to Bluebirds's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
X2.....Towing and fulltiming since 2001....Never used a sign but I always ensured that my tow vehicle tail lights worked and reflected the same indication provided by my motor home. -
Great park, great location. If you want to get even closer to PD canyon, there is camping within the park. We did not make that choice and had an excellent stay with another RVing friend at PD RV park. Just be careful on your way in and out. The entry/exit road has deep ditches on each side so you must swing wide on your way out. Our friend did not and I suspect his repair costs were quite extensive.

No point in getting up. Could hear the rain on the roof. Night, night. Watched it on the news!

I think you should keep some liquid in there. If freezing weather then make that liquid a couple of gallons of RV anti-freeze if not, just a couple of gallons of water will do just fine. If you really mean just a couple of months then you likely don't need to do anything.
