Timetravelr, The Camp Lejeune RV park is at Onslow Beach and as such it is location, location, location, but one still has to cross a road to get to the beach. The sites are close together. I found it humorous that the traveler next door was BBQ'ing and if I sat in my pilots seat I could probably reach out with tongs and pick up some good eats. Cherry point is nice after the remodel. There are many others along the Eastern Seaboard that are nice. Let me know your travels and I'll see if we have been there. We prefer to stay and Military Campgrounds when we travel but we don't go out of our way to do so. Some of the places we have stayed: P'Cola (both places Mayport Georgia (Eagle Hammock) JB Charleston Onslow Beach CLNC Pelican Point (CPNC) Lunga Park Quantico (close due to unexploded ammo) Camp Meade Hanscom AFB Those we have personally been to on the East Coast Many others Southeast, Southwest and West Coasts

Christmas Not Allowed On Another RV Website
wayne77590 replied to TimeTraveler's topic in General Discussion
Good morning! Merry Christmas to all y'all! -
Ken, With the new leveling systems on the 5'ers do you still have to go outside to push the button. For sure you have to go from truck to 5'er but that is acceptable I would surmise.

Veterans Day 2013: Businesses Offering Discounts To Veterans

Herman, It is a responsibility of all veterans to keep other veterans in check. So, without saying anything, two out of three is not to bad!!! -
Veterans Day 2013: Businesses Offering Discounts To Veterans

I always ask if they have 3 different discounts; Military, Senior Citizen, and Good Looking. I don't understand at all when they chuckle or our right laugh at the last one. -
I find it strange that traveling in the Southwest renders all types of criminal activity. We live in the Southwest, or Western States depending which map one is looking at, and we have traveled all over the Western, Midwestern, Southeaster, well heck we have traveled and camped in 46 of the 48 contiguous states. Never have we witnessed any criminal activity. it would be interesting to hear those stories. I sure don't have any to tell.

Veterans Day 2013: Businesses Offering Discounts To Veterans
wayne77590 replied to jimpat4649's topic in Veterans Corner
I would have to look on the bright side and realize that they could offer nothing. Businesses have to do "what they can," and who am I to criticize their policy of "free" food. last year and previous years could have been "bumper crop" years for them and this year it could have been "survival." -
Corpus Christi NAS allows a MWR Guest Decals and MWR Guest Cards for $20 per adult and $10 per child under 16 that is good at Category C facilities, Gulf Winds Golf Course, Outdoor Recreation/Marina, RV Parks and MWR food establishment Once having the pass just go through the gate with your guest cars and displayed decal. Many military installations allow civilian guests in their RV parks, but the kicker is getting them on the base. For the ones we have visited so far all that is needed is a member of the military community, active or retired, to be in the vehicle with the other occupants. Dependent ID cards work just as well, so DW will ride in the other MH to go through the gate. Another kicker is that the guests cannot go anywhere by themselves and need an escort - sponsor. If they wish to leave the base in their own vehicle they would have to go to pass & ID and register for a temporary pass.

Wash/wax, I won't tell.

And the very same to you and your family. Merry Christmas.

Motorhome, 5'th wheel. Take a MH and pull the front cap off, remove the motor, put a hitch for towing and you have the same as if you took a 5'er, put a motor and front wheels on it. What would be the interior difference between refrigerators, microwaves, toilets, tanks, dump valves, and on, and on. Not a heck of a lot as we share many of the same niceties. More than that, we share the same experiences traveling around this great country. When we had our fifth wheel I was never jealous or envious of motor home users. Now that I have a motor home I feel the same way, I just never give it a thought when pulling into a campground or seeing one or the other on the road. Anyone in any type of RV can park next to me any time they want, and I hope they feel the same way. What one pays or has for discounts has no affect on us.

I believe! I mean how else does a present get under a tree saying, "From Santa?" Merry Christmas to all.

Herman, I need you to volunteer to clean my coach. It's free, right?

Now Carl, I un-reel the hose all the way, I use a funnel, and I don't have to stand on a ladder even though I'm not a giant like you. (I am better looking though, I think) What I specified was that Earlene bought some "non-drip" Clorox that is almost like a gel. I don't recommend that type Clorox as it is very slow pouring and going into the hose. The real liquid stuff works so much better. So there!

More and more present day 5'ers have leveling/auto leveling jacks. Not having them in 2007 was the reason I went to a MH. Consider: Two to four 2 x 10's for leveling and carried on the floor board of the truck. Pull into a site, check level, pull out boards and place them next to the wheels so ground guide and assist in backing or pulling forward just enough to get the boards under the tires on the low side. Get out, put the boards under the tires, pull onto the boards, check level again and repeat if necessary. This is before unhooking. Then, lower front landing gear and raise enough to pull off of the king pin. Get in truck and pull away from 5'er. Level 5'er front to back using landing gear. In the middle of July 2008 with temperatured near 100 and I was going through that routine my wife said, "You are beet red. You need to get a motorhome!" Argh, argh, argh...don't have to tell me twice from SWMBO. August we had the 2008 MH. Now with the 5'er leveling systems all motorized it would be a different story. But alas, I have what I have. It is what it is, and then it is what you make of it.

What he said! And...to everyone else Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!

Roland, In 2007 I bought a Montana 3400RL. The MSRP was discounted by the dealer, but you know how that goes. So yes there are deals out there on 5'ers. One year later I traded it in for the 2008 MH. We really liked the 5'er. Towed it with a 2005 Ford F350 4wd King Ranch, Dually, Crew Cab, Long Bed. Here is my idea of what one "should" buy: If just using for long weekends and 2 week vacations a 5'er is great. Less maintenance, insurance and the tow vehicle can be an everyday back and forth to work. (I could park my truck anywhere a full size car could park - just take me a few more turns) If going to be on the road for weeks, months or longer a MH is my preferred choice. Besides I sit on it and can hold it longer, and DW can go as she pleases. I have seen some up-to-date 5'ers that are gorgeous inside. The nice thing about a 5'er is the space is from front cap to back cap so a 40' 5'er has more living room than a MH. The MH from the front seats forward is wasted space when parked. Yes, turn the seats around but still some wasted space, like 4 or 5 feet.

Clorox brand and not the "non drip" kind. Takes forever to get it into the hose, assuming you are going to sanitize the hose also.

Congratulations Herman! Ken, might see you there.

Ah! The early days. I'm still a member and an sign in to the Montana Owners Club. I guess once in, always in. I go back and check it every once in a while. KO4A is a good friend of mine. Ken, this is KE5QG, and also a member of the TXBoomers. Earlene and I were just looking at the 2018 schedule to see if we could fit into on of the rallies. Still working on it. Also a member of iRV2 and the RVMutant group. We don't care who parks next to us as long as they are friendly. if they are not friendly we just ignore them. An old saying of mine, "It doesn't matter what you camp in, you are having just as much fun!" 73's p.s., everyone. Read the last line under my signature. Live with it. If you don't like it change it. If you can't change it don't whine about it. (Hmmm! I just came up with another line) Welcome back Ken, welcome back.

I have been running a Blue Ox base plate and tow bar for many years and AF1 for braking. I'm satisfied with it.

Safe-T-Plus is working on a set-up and it may be soon that they complete one.

Follow up: Safe-t-Plus has responded to my question. On my 2105 Winnebago Tour 42QD with the Freightliner XC chassis and the IFS ZF Independent Suspension System there is not presently a design for attaching the Safe-T-Plus. They have been working on it and they believe they are close. When I hear back from them I'll post the information. Cheers! Safe-T-Plus is a great company to do business with.
