  1. No one really knows what the change will bring, we can only imagine the course FMCA will take allowing all RV's to participate. It could fail, or it could be a better organization and only time will tell. Until then, I'll wait and see what is in the future. After having a friend on travel have a heart attack and the FMCA Assist transporting him in a Lear medically equipped jet, getting his MH back to his home, all at no cost to him or his family, I'm thinking that the benefit definitely outweighs the cost of membership. AT $50 a year renewal it is a fantastic insurance program. Regarding the discounts of other clubs, the FMCA membership also gives 10% discounts at many RV parks. Other than having a motor on my RV, how many other items are conducive to all RV's. Yes, there are a few individual items but most appliances are contained in both types. There may be some good information coming from "the other side." Only time will tell.
  2. With my ever going degree in the SOHK, I'm out of the equation. Put air in tires to desired amount, take air out when necessary. KISS principle. (SOHK = School of Hard Knocks)
  3. Try a skillet on the stove and the DW trying her darnedest to keep the eggs and grease/butter from drifting to the side. "Honey, the coach is not level!" "What side is the grease on" "Left Front" "Ok, just a minute!" "How is it now?" "Just a little more please. "Ok, now?" "That's good." Sound familiar?
  4. rci, Did you take the fixture off the wall and check that the wiring had not come loose? Did you measure the voltage "before" the switch? Yes, the switch could be bad and if so you can try finding one that matches what you have and replace it. The back side of the switch should have the primary wire going in and then a secondary wire going to the socket. Check the wire on the primary side and if it has voltage and non on the secondary side when the switch is pushed then it is the switch. If you have voltage on both sides them it is probably in the socket.
  5. I have the previous version of the 760 and after many years of different Navigaion devices the Garmin so far has been the best. I especially like the bigger screen size over the previous models I have had. As Richard said it has all the parameters for an RV. If you move it from MH to car you can just switch to car mode for navigation.
  6. Oh gosh! Texas plates are the worse. Every one in Texas owns a gun, don'tchaknow!
  7. The best solution will be from the manufacturer. Give there support/customer service a call and ask questions. My old RV was a different brand but for 9 years I left it plugged in when not in use. Not in use could be up to two or three months and then I'd go take it for a spin of about 25 miles with generator running and everything on full blast. The only thing I had to do was check the water level in the batteries. Now with the AGM batteries on the newer MH I don't have to check the water but about every two weeks we stop by to say hi and I'll check the voltage levels. I leave it plugged in. Again, MFG is the final information stop.
  8. Wow! Well, glad it is fixed. So is banging worse than knocking?
  9. Sounds like a broken gear tooth either on the motor, or the rack. Happened to me on a trip and had to have the motor replaced. Thing is that it made one bang..then as time went on it made a couple, and then the slide would not come in. This was on my 2008 and electric slide motors, but the principle is the same. It sure does make one heck of a bang.
  10. Did Carl have a pork chop around his neck? For us, it doesn't matter. If LEO wants to come into my MH I don't have a personal problem with that. As for the dog, well, my dog is not friendly with other dogs but I'm sure some accommodations could be made. Carl, I missed the dog story if it was you.
  11. Okay! I didn't want to give the WAG principle method of leveling so I used the SWAG. For the WAG, DW lets me know in a certain fashion that the door will not stay opened or closed. Oops! That was on the last 9 year old coach that was just replaced this year. Hmmm! New coach has bathroom door also, could it be the WAG again?
  12. You know I was foolin' right? I'm not up on LCI but with the Kwikee I could level then do the calibration and it would work from there. For the ones on the newer MH to us I have not fooled with it yet but I did notice that once it has stopped leveling it is a little off bubble. Next time out I'll see what I can do. Me thinks the new one is LCI also. I don't know what I don't know, also, and no matter how long I have one I always learn something more. Unfortunately I forget some of the previous stuff I learned. I'm looking at the Winnebago Supplement Operators Manual and it has a procedure for "LEVEL ZERO POINT CALIBRAITION" and I'll get back to this thread a little later.
  13. I thought everyone in Florida was over 65. Was I wrong? Carl, do you enjoy it?
  14. Joe, Is the side of the MH near the wheels a property that will attract a magnet. Mine is fiberglass and the magnets don't stick very well. I have a 9 year old set of Magna Shade black mesh. They are put on with suction cups attached to the shade. They hold up fairly well in normal winds but a good gust above 30 mph may dislodge a suction cup or two. At 45 mph coming at an angle one blew off but under normal circumstances they worked well. I may get a set of their newer ones for the newer MH we have. Roger at MagnaShade is great to work with.
  15. Mike, I hate to say this but you know, I can't resist. Kwikee, HWH, etc. have calibration methods also. Darn, I though that was common knwledge.
  16. Yes, I'm thinking some of it can be polished out but then I have to find someone to polish it for me. Whare are you parked? Insurance paid off my totaled MH and gave me enough for a good down payment on newer one for me. Progressive insurance has a plan where in the first 5 years they will replace the MH with an equivalent from the same manufacturer. After 5 years they give you what you paid for it. After 9 years I was in the later category. We did alright. What they offer is basically the same as GAP insurance...and you never need it until you need it and in our case it paid off. I had given thought to taking the tires off the 2008 but there was no way I could personally do it myself and it would have been another cost for us to have someone do it. Then, how do they tow it off. Hey, it is what it is and then it is what you make of it, rght?
  17. Ouch! Hands swing down to protect important areas. Then drop kick in mid air. But, do you leave him unleashed, that is the question. If leashed I should not have to worry.
  18. Ah! One never knows. I will gurantee you that if you make any noise by bumping the motor-home she will let you know she is inside. Her bark is not that of a little kick dog. Punxsy, Nice puppy. _________________ p.s., I call the little ones kick dogs because when they are not on a leash and come after us my size 12 sends them scooting.
  19. Kay, Texas LTC states it is illegal to carry in a church. Super8, That is a Federal law. Now what is the State law. Doesn't matter what the Federal law is if the State law forbids stopping in that state with a firearm. One can argue in court but it could be expensive and you may have had to surrender your weapon to state authorities. Then try getting it back. Conundrum to say the least.
  20. Tell them it's 14 pounds. What are they going to do, weigh it! ---------------------------- With the old 2008 and in the 8+ years of traveling I was only asked 1 time how old it was when making reservations. Had it been ten years old I would have said goodby when making the reservations and found another campground.
  21. My 2008 fiberglass full body paint looked as good as it did when I bought it in 2008. No cracks and never a brush applied, just microfiber clothes. Unfortunately the new to us 2015 has swirl marks where someone didn't know what they were doing when washing or waxing. My tires after 8 years had minimal sidewall cracking, less than a fingernail width. I did decide to cover them for week long stays beginning in 2016 and then Harvey flooded it. Darn, new tires in 2016 and flooded in 2017. Only replaced them for peace of mind.
  22. The 80 pound Husky in our case is a big deterrent. Anyone who enters any type of dwelling where a dog is barking is just a fool. Joe S, I once asked a postal employee if they would want me in their facility, armed and with a license to carry, when someone comes in with a weapon and they all agreed that they would like to have me there. Unfortunately that cannot be the case. Staying in military RV parks does not give one the option of having a weapon and that is about 90-95% of the military bases. It is just not worth the hassle one gets if a search is done and a weapon is found. I wish I had a retired LEO badge as it would open up a lot of other doors. We have been traveling and camping in various forms since 1974. I can honestly say that in all that time I have never felt threatened while on the road or camping. However, it is an insurance when carrying that should something happen one could be prepared and possibly minimize innocent casualties.
