  1. Again, no analysis has been done on break away systems but my TOAD is capable of stopping itself should something happen and it come loose from the hitch. Without a TOAD braking system there is potential there for a severe accident. I have a supplemental air system. I don't know how the inertia systems would work in that situations, Regarding exhaust brakes, I leave mine on all the time except sometimes in light city driving of 30 mph or less I will shut it off to prevent shellacking. Even those areas that have signs stating "No exhaust" brakes or other supplemental braking. I know for a fact that I will stop faster with the exhaust brake on. It is the one time I will break a city ordnance.
  2. The only time the wind doesn't blow at NAS CC is in August and trust me, you are better off at home then in CC in August. Can you say HOT.
  3. I felt all around and cannot find a screw holding that in. I'll try my good hand next time I check. Chair is turned around right now and I'm lazy, Thanks - I'll look (Short answer)
  4. On our 2015 Winnebago Tour the side panel mirror controls stopped working. I checked the 12v breaker in the left front bay compartment and it has not tripped. I'm at the thought that a wire slipped off one of the controllers/power connectors. If anyone has any ideas I would like to entertain them. If a wire fell off, how does one get the control buttons out of the console?
  5. Wow! Talk about being lucky. The driver of the truck and y'all. That could have been real bad. Good dash cam video
  6. Day before yesterday we had a little snow in our area, just a little flurry or two. Overpasses were salted. We came home around 2 p.m. and Earlene was worried about all the water coming from the top of the driveway. (MH is parked in driveway). I told here to look up. there were icicles on the roof edges and melting. At 10 p.m. tonight it was 37˚ outside. Hope we have had our Winter.
  7. Bill, what is the model ceramic you use in the basement?
  8. Tom, you beat me to it. I was going to tell Carl that personal taste and keeping the toilet bowl clean should not be grouped together. Oh well, that's Carl.
  9. Ah! First "RV" - term used lightly. The year was 1974. The RV was a 1972 Chevy Sportvan Equipped by TRAVCO. Slept 4. Table let down to make a bed, cross members added above bed for two more...although it was young children and I'm not sure it would hold me now-a-days. Two burner gas stove. Suburban gas heater that was fantastic. Port-a-potty was a box with a lid on it and a bucket inside. Take the bucket out and carry it to the restroom to dump - and any restroom would do. Sink to do dishes and the drain was a hose connection on the outside for the gray water to go onto the ground. Never a problem back in those days. A small 12v refrigerator. Two 12v batteries charged by the alternator with an isolator so the house batteries would not take down the engine battery if it got low. Engine: 350 Chevy Picture of Proof (PoP)
  10. Ken, I had a Class A CDL beginning in about 1986. No longer driving for that company or any commercial company I converted it over to a regular Class A. For some reason that was after I got a ticket and paid a $164 fine. No defensive driving and no adjudication if it is a commercial license...just pay the fine. With the standard Classes of licenses DD and AD are offered. So far I have not had to use those methods since converting. So you let Susan drive...oh wait, she lets you drive and she monitors from the co-pilot's chair. I do understand that method of driving.
  11. Joe, very familiar with having to squeeze he "paddle" to stop more quickly with a trailer and even then it was a toss up. Never hit anything, but the pucker factor was there. Ken, I know they get heavy. A trailer weighing 24000 pounds means the truck can only weigh 2000 pounds and if 1 pound GVWR is more than 2000 pounds a Class A license is required - in Texas. I have seen some 5'ers towed with MDT's and even bigger rigs. I have camped next to ones with the smart car on the back of the tractor. Lot of truck there. It doesn't matter what a truck is equipped with it is based on the sticker GVWR for both. Hey, I'm just one for following the rules to the best of my abilities but others do what they want to do and I can only hope and pray that they will not affect me on the road.
  12. And a lot of them don't realize that the braking power of the 1/2 and even 3/4 ton is not really enough to safely stop 14,000 pounds pushing them. Some of the newer toy-haulers go over 14,000 pounds. Couple that with a 12,001 pound truck and a higher license is required in Texas. Some of the toy-haulers can weigh over 16K.
  13. Just an open thought! We had a "Stop Engine" light come on in our ISB and the warning was "low coolant." Not wanting to hurt the engine we had it towed to the Cummins place...still under warranty. They found that a wire had come off of the pin in the engine harness. They said it would be 6 weeks before Winnebago could manufacture another engine harness for it. However, they worked on it and were able to fix the wire/pin and all was fine. Saying that, it may not be the sensor, module, black box, etc., and it could also be something else. Good luck in your trouble shooting.
  14. Roland, It is an insurance policy and only there when you need it. Gives one peace of mind. Just be careful of ricochets as they can get the person firing in a lot of trouble.
  15. I don't think there was any insult implied, just some facts from other people. Some may have had experiences like you did and some did not. Having spent 23+ years in the USMC and in the SI field I am ever observant of my surroundings and as a fact I have never encountered criminal activity in my surroundings. Have I been careful when I see a group of people huddled and just standing around? You bet, but never an incident. In all the years carrying a weapon I have never felt the urge to take it out.
  16. Ha! You think the AF was bad you should have tried USMC Boot Camp.
  17. TT, You can request your Dad's military records here: Military Records Request If you haven't already done so, you may find information in those records that you do not have
  18. I just wonder how the recipe survived from Ancient Rome! Herman, have no fear, you are as nutty as a fruitcake.
  19. Merry Christmas to all y'all!
  20. Timetravelr, The Camp Lejeune RV park is at Onslow Beach and as such it is location, location, location, but one still has to cross a road to get to the beach. The sites are close together. I found it humorous that the traveler next door was BBQ'ing and if I sat in my pilots seat I could probably reach out with tongs and pick up some good eats. Cherry point is nice after the remodel. There are many others along the Eastern Seaboard that are nice. Let me know your travels and I'll see if we have been there. We prefer to stay and Military Campgrounds when we travel but we don't go out of our way to do so. Some of the places we have stayed: P'Cola (both places Mayport Georgia (Eagle Hammock) JB Charleston Onslow Beach CLNC Pelican Point (CPNC) Lunga Park Quantico (close due to unexploded ammo) Camp Meade Hanscom AFB Those we have personally been to on the East Coast Many others Southeast, Southwest and West Coasts
  21. Ken, With the new leveling systems on the 5'ers do you still have to go outside to push the button. For sure you have to go from truck to 5'er but that is acceptable I would surmise.
  22. Herman, It is a responsibility of all veterans to keep other veterans in check. So, without saying anything, two out of three is not to bad!!!
