  1. Agree with Herman. Adjusters will inspect, then it goes into the shop of your choice. If the shop finds additional damage that the adjuster did not catch the insurance company will make further adjustments to cover the bill. You should not be out of pocket for any expenses from either insurance company but your insurance company will "fight" with the towing company for all settlements. You can always have an independent 3rd party inspect before and after repairs.
  2. Close friends of ours from Arkansas were in Florida with their MH. He had a heart attack. When stable the best care was back in Arkansas. Lear 125 (med equipped) with nurses on board flew him and wife back to Arkansas. He had the best care back there and is mending. FMCA Assist was also arranging for dogs and MH to be returned, however they had friends go down and pick up the RV. FMCA Assist paid for their flight down. Definitely worth the $60 a year dues.
  3. Not necessarily a Warrant Officer, could go straight to Second Lieutenant and up the chain. One example, General Al Gray, USMC (Ret) Commandant Of The Marine Corps. He enlisted in the Marine Corp, rose to the rank of Sergent and hen commissioned a Second Lieutenant. That makes him a Mustang. Many others have done the same. Back on topic. ResMed makes DC supplies that work directly off of DC instead of converting down to DC from AC. What series ResMed do you have? I have a series M (I thing - been a long time I looked at it) but we have not boondocked so I'm always plugged int 115vac. I had the option to get 12vdc but did not take it. Next MH I may consider doing so.

  6. I was towed once using GS and the tow was 40 miles. GS didn't even blink. I asked the tow operator what it would have cost me and he replied that it would about $750. Also, Clay, you can call Cummins or Freightliner 24/7 and they will answer your questions to try and get you back on the road.

    Tire Inflators

    I'm of the other school for inflation in that I use the on-board compressor, but for 110 psi. I have never had a problem inflating tires to 110 psi using that system. I also have a 5 gallon pancake 110v - 150 psi compressor here at the house. The on-board compressor outperforms the pancake every time. Nice thing about the on-board system is that it has a built in air dryer.
  9. You can find a 2016 Thor Venetian M37 on RVTrader.com. My problem are those MH's with opposing couches and behind one of the couches is a raise up TV. Not functional at all. We are looking for MH's with Couch and Happy Hour Chair (HHC) and a TV that is view-able from most angles. (At my age HHC is nap time. )
  10. Clothing: pack for both winter and summer that way you'll be prepared. A suitcase in one of the bays can carry a season of clothes. Or, put sweaters and jackets in the closet if you wear long pants all the time.
  11. Different coach but my slide controllers are behind a panel that holds my cable/sat input in one of the bays. I have electric motors also that look identical to yours. Mine are Kwikee but like stated all owned by Lippert now. On my motors there is a 3/4 inch nut and also on the motor is a "lock" switch. The lock switch on the motor is a little lever that keeps the motor from free wheeling. Your manual should state whether to turn the lock switch left or right to engage the lock. If you disengage that lock switch you should be able to put a 3/4 inch wrench/ratchet on the nut to move the slide. If there are two motors on the slide it will require two people and the wrenches need to be turne simultaneously (slide ends within 1 to 2 inches of each other) so do the wrench turns together. The lock switches can bump open just traveling down some of our super highways. Before trying the manual way, slide the lock switch one way and try the slide and then the other way and try the slide. If the motor is not in the lock position it just may be a cause - worth the check. Rots of ruck!
  12. Ouch! We have considered that model once our insurance claim is finalized. On our 2008 Winni we had a motor fail but not until seven or eight years later. Ours are Electric (Kwikee). It happens but twice...ouch.
  13. In Rob's defense. A friend of ours has a 2016 Thor Tuscany 45 AT. He purchased it new. When he was coming to meet us at a rally just after purchase he hit a rain storm. Water was pouring in over the top of the windshield. The Thor warranty fixed it but the problem was that it had never been sealed by the factory. Also when he arrived at the rally he stated that he could not get the water pump to work. He had to hook up to city water to have water inside the coach. We found that the fittings around the water pump were not connected tightly and it was sucking in air. He also stated that the ice make was not working. On examination the water valve was found down behind some material and sitting over an electrical box. When the water was turned on for the ice maker the fitting blew off as it was just barely hanging on. Don't get me wrong. All brands have problems and some models of any "line" could have more problems than others. It is the "lemon" of the beast and it happens with cars, trucks, and even houses. Would I consider a Thor? Absolutely but I would most definitely have an extensive PDI performed and that is for any RV I would purchase. Trust me, I have had my problems with my Winnebago. Others who have the same model have had little to no problems. It happens.
  14. Ah beer! Used the Instant Pot this evening and did some electric pressure cooker baby back ribs. Ummmm gooooood. Thank you all for the advice. Water mark is evident and do have pictures. Going there tomorrow to take some close ups. It would have been nice if the insurance could send adjuster in a time frame less than a month. Mitigation of goods would have been much better. I have basically left everything as Harvey left it. Chris, funny you should mention Category 3 flood water. As habit when we entered the coach Earlene (DW) took off her shoes. she found damp places on the carpet. When I told her the next day that there was sewage in the water she was ready for another bath. Thank you all for the information. I'm going to fight for the right price. Don't know how the floor got wet but there was grass debris (Still there) in a heat register by the door. We are thinking it was from the motor boats rescuing people. The actual dried water mark is about half way up the bay doors. The Repair Facility has video of an Alpha that was in front of our coach. The video shows the Alpha with water up to the headlights. Who knows, we'll see what happens. Oh, the 11 hours off of here was GD's soccer game. cooking ribs and watching a good (well not so good according to DW) movie. Unlike others, I do have a life.

  16. Yep, I have had that saying for a long time if that is what you are referring to. As for salvage, my bays are not pass-through per say. Per say is about 8 inches on the top is a pass through. Enough to slide chairs and tables into. For the bottom of the compartments I put in those plastic drawers and a few of the compartments have them stacked. Much easier to find something. Well, the bottom drawer is full of water, so most of the items in the pass-through should be okay as the second tier of drawers should be okay. PT50-C was underwater as were some tools and a cordless drill. I"m sure the slinky got a good washing. Blue Ox accessories were under water and the hitch was still on the back so it is mostly rust now. Although the floor on the inside had a few wet spots we think it was from the motor boats creating wakes that pushed water up inside. One of the floor heat register vents has grass debris in it. All of the personal stuff was in overhead cabinets so it is salvageable. My dilemma: Do I empty the bays, take pictures, or do I leave it as is for the adjuster to see? Regardless of what happens I'll have to dump everything from the bays and do a good cleaning/sanitizing of the stuff. As for the inside personal effects, well if it isn't totaled they are going to stay there. (I think) p.s., you asked if there was anything you could do. Is sending a few hundred thousand dollars out of the question? Carl said you were loaded with money. Now Carl, You just told a story about crashing into the back of a truck and then you state Herman is a better demo man. So which is it?

  20. My installation on the rear is typical ladder mount. For the front I went to Hobby Lobby and got some suction cups. Decal is mounted on the inside of the front window, low passenger side. No holes, no bumper, no license plate needed. If I forget who I am I can turn it around so I can read the numbers. :-)
  21. Thanks Jim. I'm going to have a print-out of the RV NADA information to hand to him and If I can get the amount indicated or close enough I'll be happy. I have indicated I want to be there when the inspector is. They did not write the check on the spot. With the volume of paperwork they are experience with the different catastrophes I'm sure there is going to be some sort of bog down.
  22. Thanks Bill, I have been through their site and many others, Lazy Days, RVT, etc. Lots of them meet the eye but many do not. I'm aghast at a MH's that have two couches opposing each other and a pop up TV behind one of them. It has to be a single couch/hide-a-bed and a Euro chair or recliner. Either one as I'll replace it with the one I have now. It has narrowed my available coaches. We cannot do anything until I know what the insurance company is going to do. We'll be so glad when it is over. Our service manager said that even after the adjuster inspects the MH it could be a month or more before he settle up with us. Oh well. It to shall pass.
  23. Herman, I don't understand the statement you made ( I put in bold type). Are you stating you don't know how to check data in google maps or the MAPS APP. Both are capable. If Jim can teach Carl how to find a trucker's atlas, I'm sure you can learn how to find traffic on a map.
