  1. We had our Husky professionally trained. Plus I keep up at the training. Part of the professional training was socialization. It worked until she was 18 months old. Until 18 months old she would walk up to any dog sniff butts while circling and play. Then at 18 months old she was attacked and no less by a Chihuahua not on a leash in a campground. My dog is always leashed. I had to kick at the Chihuahua to keep it away from my dog until the owner came and got it. They were all sitting outside. Over the past several years my dog has been attacked 9 times by various breed dogs whose owners don't think they need to keep their dog on a leash. So now it is the thinking of the professionals that my dog has "fear aggression." It only manifests itself when other dogs start approaching her. Walking in CG's or anywhere my dog can walk by my side (always on a leash) in heel mode and just glance at any dog that is 5-6 feet away with not show of aggression. If you were near me with your dog I could ask my dog to lay down and your dog could be within 5 feet and my dog would ignore your dog unless it started to come near here. I don't believe your statement of a dog who has lived in a home/yard all its life does not have an idea how to behave. Just doesn't ring true with our Husky. p.s., forgot to say: If my dog is attacked by another dog, especially one of those little yappers and I just let her have her way, which one is the aggressor? Our Husky is 75-80 pounds given the week or day and one of those little Chihuahua's would be a toss toy for her. I could hear the rumblings now, "That big mean dog bit up and spit out that little dog, what a mean dog."
  2. GunNut11, Go to this link and read about it. Becoming an FMCA Member does have benefits. FMCA Assist
  3. Personal friend from Arkansas was in Florida and had a heart attack, pretty severe one. After he was stabilized FMCA Travel Assist provided a Lear Medical Jet with qualified personnel on board to fly him back to Arkansas. The were also going to provide flying the puppies back and getting the RV and TOAD back to them but they had friends that flew to FL and drove the MH and puppies back to Arkansas. The medical jet was no cost to them and all covered by FMCA Assist. Does that help.
  4. They make a special foam insert that we use all the time. Pushes in and pulls out real easy. Only reason I can see for not pushing it into the recess of the dome is for light. Most all rv supply stores carry them.
  5. I purchased the Wash Wax All kit. The kit is worth the extension pole that will reach 14 feet (even though I only need 12 feet). Very easy to use. The attachment to the pole is inverted V shape and it is labeled on the inside, "Dry," "Wet." Initial applications of about 10 pumps on the wet side to dampen it, then spray some on the coach and wipe it down, flip the V end over to the dry side and wipe over what was don with wet side. Goes fast. The V cloths do not get into every nook and cranny but you can follow up with microfiber cloths to take care of those areas. Coach (40 ft) takes about 1 hour, TOAD takes about 15 minutes. Shine lasts on my paint. Don't know how it would work on GelCoat.
  6. Kay, where do you get your parts for the 6V92. I have a friend with a 1968 conversion with that motor.
  7. I just called my insurance company and they emailed me a card for Canada...said I didn't need it but makes it simpler.
  8. It's a shame they have a restriction on a Husky. I wonder why, as they are a gentle dog and not aggressive to people. Of course all dogs should be kept on a leash. Why, because when unleashed dogs approach another dog instinct takes over and protective order prevails. The Husky is a decedent of the Spritz dog. Many think it is the wolf. All dogs can have an admixture of a wolf family but that was 12,000 or so years ago. Pit Bulls are also a breed that is not allowed in CG's. We have friends that have a Pit Bull as a service animal, she a disable veteran and he PTSD from an accident. The Pit Bull is certified by the VA as being a dual service animal. That dog is as gentle as a small bunny rabbit. It's all in the training.
  9. We are also on the AT&T 30 gb plan shared between two iPhones and a Mifi with rollover minutes. 99% of the time we are within the minutes allocated. One time when neighbor children FaceTimed with the wife for over 30 minutes we exceeded the allocated time and all I'll say is that it is costly for $10 for every gb used after allocated time. We have never seen any throttle back. Also looked into unlimited with AT&T and the 30Gb per month with roll over works better for us. The unlimited plan does have throttle back. p.s., got rid of MA Bell phone 4 or so years ago and went with Magic Jack, $99 for 5 years service and ported the AT&T phone number to the Magic Jack. With MJ App on phone, when house phone rings App on phone rings, but also can go on-line and forward MJ to any phone I like. Saved $70 a month switching to MJ.
  10. Old thread, but hey! How come when the dog down the alley about 2 houses down barks my dog turns it head and looks in that direction and when the neighbor's dog barks behind the fence between our yards my dog picks it's head up and looks in that direction? Oh, my dog will not return the bark. (75 lb Husky.) I think they hear other dogs bark very well. Dogs bark - in slow motion

If you are talking about the foam type then it can be trimmed. Use a straight board and maker to draw a line where it is to be trimmed. Use an electric knife and just follow down the line. The electric knife will cut it like soft butter.
  12. My last maintenance checkup at Freightliner revealed a right front seal leak. As Brett stated it contaminated the brakes. You don't just replace one side brake pads. Expensive process. TG I have ESP with seals endorsement. Doesn't cover the pads though.

    Tire Inflators

And driving on the improperly inflated tire in a dually situation can cause the fully "overloaded" tire to zipper fail....don't ask me how I know.

    Tire Blowouts

Many times driving at 62-64 mph TT's and 5'ers will zoom on by me. Most are ignorant that the tires are rated for 65 mph on 99% of all trailers.
  15. Also much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
  16. The majority of parks will let you bucket wash the front of the MH after you arrive. Ever tried the Bounce Dryer sheets. Wet the windshield. Put a Bounce Dryer sheet on a squeegee softside and wipe he windshield with it. Do small sections at a time and rinse. Small sections being about 2 feet wide and the length of the windshield. Also can be used on all of the front.
  17. Darby, don't stop. I want to be behind you and not catch up to you but I am close. Trust me, your manufacturer is not the only one that has less than adequate quality control. I think if you visit any of the repair shops you will see many newer model MH's in for repair. Having personally run into the "new" syndrome on my MH when I purchased it i can feel your pain. We have run into the same problem on shipping and part availability. My rig is now 9 years old and the situation on parts has not improved, nor would I expect it to as it gets older. Maybe in 6 years when I attain a certain age I'll buy another MH, but it will be a couple years old. Good luck and happy trails. Enjoy your lifestyle for many more years.
  18. I would definitely remove mine should I get out of RV'ing. Who knows, one of the family members may take up the lifestyle some day and be able to use it.
  19. As I indicated, and I have had several GPS's, I find the one I have, Garmin 760 LMT to be the better of the bunch. I don't know about the 770 LMT but if it is half as good as the 760 it is a good buy. My iPhone 7 is good also but doesn't have the features for an RV that the Garmin has. DW's iPhone 6 is the same but she uses it and her iPad Pro as the right seat navigator. I don't think any of them are infallible. I rely on my navigator (DW) but one time her iPad mapping system said to take "sage" road and my Garmin wanted me to take a different route. We followed DW's instructions and on the Sage Rd I was almost able to see the license plate on the TOAD going around some of the turns. Hey, it happens, right? I would strongly suggest that if one knows the night before where they are going to use the internet mapping system to scope out the route. It has made me change my GPS's route a few times. Use the satellite view to see what the road really looks like. Happy trails.
  20. Good luck. I visit family in Central MA and I'm lucky I can park in my brother's driveway. Few and far between good campground in that area. For Amherst I did see on that had an 8.2 rating in Bernardston. It is called Travelers Woods and is about 30 miles North of Amherst. Munson, MA has one about 25 miles South. As Herman pointed out, check RV Park Reviews
  21. TLI = Target Lifts International, your neighbor, or used to be.
  22. Yep, Dr. Internet is always right. Reviews are always right. Searching for one thing and getting tons of things "they" think are related is also another thing. Anyone can create a meta (tag) name "keywords" on a web site and put anything in it they want. An extreme example would be a sugar company not only putting the word sugar in their meta tag but also the word rock. So someone searching for rock gets the sugar company. FMCA does a decent job of meta tag keywords as do many other sites but there are still sites out there the the Google BOTS and other search engine BOTS pick up and display as erroneous information. Yep, I could go back to the Yellow Pages but last time I used them information I was looking for was not there. As to the original post, my money is on the Garmin and whichever model is the newest for RV's. It has many features that I enjoy and I find it better than the Tom Tom I now have sitting on the shelf.
  23. A multi-meter can show correct voltages but when the system is plug in things can happen that will drop that voltage. So yes, the reading can be good until a load is present. The surge guard mentioned or the Progressive Industries (PI) surge protector will monitor the electrical system. The PI will shut down if there is a voltage drop or increase and will reset itself when things are back to normal. The surge guard has protected me several times from faulty pedestals. p.s., I have stayed at many KOA's and have had no problems. The occasional problem does not represent the entire franchise as Brett pointed out.
  24. Nope! Not questionable. To many times Google and other search engines give you what they think you want to see instead of what you want to see. Your experience may differ depending on how you use the internet. I prefer google to other search engines but it isn't what it used to be. Of course I have only been using the Internet since 1994, but did have a 300bps land line connection back in '84. Yes, I use all of the "Applications" you mentioned and they are specific applications for what they are intended for.
