  1. p.s., depending on floor plan the inverter switch should be in or near the galley. To reset the inverter you turn it on and off 3 times. When it is in the off position the inverter should not be active.
  2. The entry door switch is the on/off switch. From what I read you have to have the switch on to extend or retract the step. Once it is extended or retracted and the switch is turned to off it will stay in the last position. Turning that switch off is the disconnect switch. Unfortunately it appears that you will have to retract the step from the inside turn the switch off and then open the door. The step should be retracted. How you exit the RV after that point is up to you. I'm not young enough to jump down. I could sit down on the last step and "gently" slide out.
  3. Search for 1998 Safari Trek manual and you'll come up with the 2002. I'll bet they are close in operations.
  4. From the manual: "The electric step is controlled by two methods: the activation of the ignition switch and by an ON/OFF switch near the doorway. The ON/OFF switch controls the 12 VDC power to the step. If the switch is on, then the step will extend and retract when the door is opened and closed. If the switch is OFF, the step will not move. Therefore, to lock the step in its extended position when parked, turn the switch ON, open the door, and allow the step to extend, then turn off the switch. The ignition switch overrides the ON/OFF switch. When the ignition is switched to the ON position and the door is opened the step will extend. It will automatically retract when the door is closed. Some coaches are equipped with other safety features that help to prevent damage to the step or motor." Hope that helps.
  5. Keon, Come on down and break bread with us. Door is always open when we are in town. If I had a place here at the homestead to park you would be welcome to that also. Many campgrounds in the area and some tourist attractions. Come On Down!
  6. I'd like to know the year, make and model of your RV and the chassis you have. Every manufacturer is different. Have you called the Mfg of your coach and asked questions. In my specific case the step motor draws a constant current (Current Limiting Switch) and the steps have to be turned off for the trickle charge to work effectively charging the batteries. It might be there is some small thing like that keeping your batteries drained.
  7. Manufacturers differ in how they perceive things should work. In my coach for example I have a trik-l-charger so both house and service batteries get charged. At first I was turning off the battery disconnect and service batteries and house batteries would not charge. To make a long story short I called the factory and i was informed that both the service battery disconnect and the house battery disconnect had to be in the "ON" position for the batteries to charge. (Hmm! thinking of the word "Disconnect" I should have realized that.) Also i was informed that the steps operation had to be in the OFF position as the charging system would not keep up with the amperage draw of the steps. Steps work with a current limiting switch so there is a constant current draw on the steps when they are turned on. Just my 2cents worth.
  8. Did you see my link on page two for the Kwikee Step Motor ---- and the guide?
  9. Desertdeals69, wait until you see the new IOS-11 mapping system complete with lane guide.
  10. It's a new Government! When's the last time you were on I-45S from Houston? They have 5 lanes from beltway to Nasa Rd 1 open.
  11. Reminds me of when I was installing two way mobile antennas on cars. Guy came in with a Porche and wanted a "Lip Mount" antenna on the hatch back. couldn't do it because of the spacing tolerance and I convinced him that a body shop could easily repair a 3/4" hole. As I got the drill out and looked at him and said, "Are you going to watch?" He fled into the office. Yep, they have to take things apart and even cut a hole here and there. If you have a mind to drive to Houston, Smitty's Welding & RV Shop does great work. I'll wager that if you check with some of the RV Dealers you will be given advice for where to take it locally. Even some RV Dealers install base plates.
  12. Putting a new connector on the 2" point and then a new cable to the antenna using a barrel connector. After putting on the barrel connector use that new "plumber's" tape and seal it real good. Otherwise, tie or tape some good nylon rope to the 2" end and try to pull it through hoping it is not tie wrapped. It all depends on which fine craftsman thru the cable over the rafters. When the cable and rope come out the other end tie another cable AND another rope to the rope that was snaked down and pull it back up. When the cable comes up through the roof remove the rope that was used to pull the cable and new rope up and leave the new rope in place (for the next time - and that will make sure there is no next time.) I have used the double rope pull several times and it has come in handy not only in replacing but adding new and I always pull a rope back to the starting point.
  13. Made the run from Calif. to Houston on I-10 and there were no problems, Yes, a few construction zones but those seem to be on all highways. Time frame was September 2016.
  14. Turning Stone RV Village is very nice.
  15. When we leave Gettysburg we take US-30 to US-222 on up to I-78 for just a little while and then east of Easton we pick up HWY-33 then US-209 and usually stay in Stroudsburg, PA. We then have to pick up US-80E to US-209 again. We follow US-209 up through the Deleware Water Gap to I-84 and follow that over to Sturbridge, MA. Reverse that route. Less stressful than all the Interstates and only a little longer and the scenery is nicer. p.s., done it pulling a 40' 5'er and the 40' motorhome towing a car.
  16. The Lincoln MKT is a seven passenger vehicle where the rear 3 person seat folds down when not in use for a storage/hauling area. The earlier models did not have to disconnect the battery cable. Pricey car, even the used ones, but good bang for the buck.
  17. Here is one link and I think it is the one from when I purchased my replacement motor. Having the model number and contacting the company would be the most wise thing to do. Kwikee Step Motor Amazon also has Kwikee Step Motors for sale: Make sure you have your model #. Here is the Kwikee Step Guide
  18. For a 2014 I think you will have problems reconnecting the fuse or cable with the on-board computer. It is going to reset everything. I have a 2013 Lincoln MKX and it is an Edge on aesthetic steroids is all. I have the same problem as you. Mine is key less start. Then manual for the Edge states the same thing my manual does. Start engine and run for 5 minutes and every 6 hours (to long), shift to D then R then N, Ignition in accessory mode, My battery will run down if I do not stop every two hours (2-1/2 max) and restart the engine and let run for 5 minutes. I typically have to take a necessities break every 2 to 2-1/2 hours anyway. Since I have been doing that I have not had a problem. The other solution would be to use a "charge line." Here is an example of one type: Charge Line
  19. I only have one, Progressive Industries PT-50C, and it has saved me several times. One time in a CG in Kansas (must have clicked my heels) we were all set up and the AC just stopped working. Checked the PT-50c and it showed on leg at 104v and that shut off the PT-50C. Several other occasions where it worked well. Funny thing about the AC shut off. Called the office, manager came out, said they were having some problems at the main box. I told them that I really needed AC as it was in the 90's. To make a long story short, they switched the wires to the legs in the pedestal. AC ran well and lights worked well. It was a one night stay for sure. PI Backs up their product.
  20. I had a broken lock a couple weeks ago. Stuck the key in, turned it, pulled on the handle and no luck. Tried it several times, no luck. Turned the key and hear it click, turned it all the way the other way and heard it click. Turned it back to unlock it, heard it click, pulled on the handle - Gees, I could break the handle off if I'm not careful. Called GS and they were going to call me back after finding a locksmith. Meantime I called the local locksmith. This is a Sunday and we are supposed to be leaving like "NOW." Back out to the MH. Oh! Oh! darn! I was turning it to the left and that locks it - not unlocks it. Turned it the other way and handle finally moved. Ever see a monkey jump on a football. Here is the worst of it all. Had to go back in the house and tell DW that I fixed it. it wasn't until several days later that I fessed up. She had time to think about it and just smiled instead of calling me a DumbA again. Thought I'd share that while waiting for the OP to come back.
  21. Try Adblock Plus and Ghostery. With Linux you can set parameters using etc/hosts file to keep known bad sites out, it's the unknown that can sneak up on you.
  22. Looking into the drawer, right goes down, left goes up. Just a little tab to push/pull on.
  23. I use AF1 and first was installed on Saturn Vue, then purchased Lincoln MKX and transferred the AF1 to the Lincoln. After 65,000 miles it is still working.
