  1. Tom, Missoula had 3 different farmer’s markets going on at the same time. Right after you turn North on 93 0ff I-90 there is one of the nicest RV parks. Jim & Mary's RV Park, 9800 US-93, Missoula, MT 59808, jimandmarys.com , (406) 549-4416. Each site was very nicely landscaped and they were all different. If you go up 93 toward Ignatius you will come to the National Bison Range, Dixon, MT 59831, fws.gov (406) 644-2211. When in the area of Ignatius, you should check out Saint Ignatius Mission Church. If you go up far enough, you can end up in Glacier National Park. Enough memories for tonight, next OR,WA and CA. Bill
  2. Thanks for posting that Tom, I wasn't going to add that much info until the OP answered back. I enjoyed touring the Lewis and Clark fort but had to wonder about building a fort that the eaves sloped in to the fort. This means you have to walk through the run off and the mud in the middle of your fort. This when they had 6 days in over three mouths that it didn't rain while they were there. I would add Badlands National park, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Little Bighorn National Monument. You can't miss Yellowstone. I would NEVER be with out my toad. Bill
  3. I think that David & Ruthann are in that group that the RV park is their destination. They go to a park and that is where they stay until they move to the next park. There is nothing wrong with this. They are happy with their life stile and I wish them well. I won't go any where with out my toad. There are so many things to do and see that you can't do in a motorhome. As an example last summer we did North East. in a little over 90 days we drove the Motorhome 5200 miles and the toad over 6000 miles. The ratio was about the same when we went west the year before. The toad gets 30 mpg the coach 8. Bill
  4. Where in NY are you leaving from? Quick and easy routing. Take I-90 West till you can't then turn left go south till you come to I-10 East turn Left go East till you can't then turn left, go north till home. Bill
  5. One thing I forgot to mention. Pull oil samples from both the engine and transmission and have them analyzed BEFORE you change the oil. You want the report back before you change your oil. You want the ability to double check if you get a odd reading on your report. If the report is good you may only need to change the filters on the transmission. Heare are a couple of oil sampling labs. http://www.jglubricantservices.com/ http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free-test-kits.php Bill
  6. Roland, What am I missing? You wanted us to help you pick a route that keeps you out of the bad weather or gets you south as fast as possible right? What are you doing looking at I-40? Do you feel the need to go try to eat the big steak in Amarillo? By the way it is 21 with a freezing fog advisory tonight in Amarillo. Go read my earlier recommendations. Bill
  7. Welcome to the forum. I generally do all my yearly maintenance this time of year so I will be ready to go when the weather warms up. Some people who live up north will do all their maintenance in the fall before they store/winterize their coach. The next question is can/do you want to do some of the things on the list your self? Did you get any maintenance records with the coach? If you don't have any records it might be a good thing to do all the items you listed so you have a baseline. You might find a mobile mechanic that will do it for a cheaper price. Here is a link that talks about some of the maintenance items. It may not apply directly to your coach but is informative. http://www.rvtechmag.com/tech/43_chassissvc.php?pg=all Bill
  8. You may still be OK. Take a small punch/center punch and try to back the easy out up. They don't catch much and you may get it to pop out just taping it with a hammer. I have used a broken tap extractor to get a broken ease out to come out. Bill
  9. I wonder why the population in my area is growing so fast. Did I mention no state income tax. Bill
  10. I visited with them when we had a Rally down there in the Madena lake area. One of the group had some work done before and was planning on getting some other stuff done. They seamed happy with the work. Looked like a good well run place doing good quality work. Bill
  11. Welcome to the forum. Let me see the Prius manual says not to do it, because it will destroy the transmission. The FMCA towing guide doesn't have one listed and the largest maker of add on's for towing Remco says "Must be towed on a tow dolly." I am going to go out on a limb and say no it must be towed on a tow dolly. Bill
  12. Yes I was there in June last year. You always have the chance to get some cold weather if a cold front blows through. Mostly cool nights with days in the 60s I stayed in a nice place just south of Ellsworth Ma. Forest Ridge Campground, 40, Flockamoosen Way, Ellsworth, ME 04605, http://forestridgecampground.com/,(855) 299-6969. I used the toad to go to Arcadia and Bar Harbor. I can't imagine trying to find a place to park a coach in Bar Harbor as finding a place for the toad was not that easy. But do check out Geddy's or Galyn's or Route 66 Restaurant, or well you get the picture. After that we went Down East to East port. and stayed in the most eastern camp ground in the US. Seaview Campground & Cottages, 16 Norwood Rd, Eastport, ME 04631, eastportmaine.com, (207) 853-4471. If you have your passport's you can visit Roosevelt Campobello International Park, Welshpool, NB E5E 1A4, Canada, fdr.net, +1 506-752-2922. One thing to watch for is when you get near the border turn off the data on your phone or just turn it off. It will pick up a tower in Canada and not tell you. This can result in a BIG phone bill. Bill
  13. Welcome to the forum. Now is a good time to make use of one of your FMCA resources Go to the main page and click on towing guide. or http://www.fmca.com/motorhome/towing/204-towing-guides-towing-four-wheels-down.html Bill
  14. The question is, IS it hot? Have you investigated to see if it was hot? I would use a laser thermometer to check the rear brakes and hubs to see if it is hot. Always keep the vent in "recirculate" to keep odors out of the car. One more question, does it smell hot when it is on the dolly after being towed or after you take it off and drive it? Bill
  15. David glad you are having a good time. Best practice is to not start the main engine unless you can drive it to warm everything up to operating temperature's. When you do start it as soon as the oil pressure comes up go to fast idle This improves combustion when it is cold and helps reduce unburned fuel washing down the cylinder walls and contaminating your oil. 2 mouths isn't all that long. You can cut back on the generator to 2 hours once a month. I run the heat pumps to put a load on the generator. I try to find enough load to get to 35-40 amp. About the only other thing I might look at is the water in the batteries. OK thought of one more chore for you to keep you busy. Clean the air filters on the AC/Heat pumps they need to be checked and cleaned or replaced as needed. I am sure others will have a long list but the rest can wait for annual maintenance. Or we can send you a daily work list. Wash and wax the coach, clean and dress the tires and polish the rims. Bill
  16. Thanks for the up date. Glad you had a good result. Bill
  17. So why don't you add your coach to your profile and signature lines? Bill
  18. I would start in the nose area not under the dash if that was where the problem was before. Use a piece of hose to listen for air leaks. Bill
  19. Welcome to the forum. I was in several parks this summer that didn't offer cable or it wasn't working. Bill
  20. Yes I was wondering if the drain pipes are the right size and they installed the wrong size valves or what? If the drain pipes are right it would be easy to replace the right valves. Bill
  21. I don't see why you can't do it your self if you have the equipment. Bill
  22. Not a problem just keep an eye on the long range weather reports. If a storm does catch you just stop for a day or so till things improve. Bill
  23. Yes unfortunately this gasket is trying to do two things, be a gasket and a isolation damper to keep the vibration noise out of the RV. Over compressing it will cause it to fail and need to be replaced. I am going to try to remember the next time I change one to see what the final torque is. Bill
  24. That sounds good. You can stay west of the hills in Tennessee by coming down that way. When are you planning on leaving? Bill
  25. So coming down I-55? I haven't stayed in Memphis. When going East I head for Nashville. Little Rock - Nashville = a good day. Bill
