Maintenance While Parked For Extended Periods
wildebill308 replied to judatt's topic in General Discussion
David glad you are having a good time. Best practice is to not start the main engine unless you can drive it to warm everything up to operating temperature's. When you do start it as soon as the oil pressure comes up go to fast idle This improves combustion when it is cold and helps reduce unburned fuel washing down the cylinder walls and contaminating your oil. 2 mouths isn't all that long. You can cut back on the generator to 2 hours once a month. I run the heat pumps to put a load on the generator. I try to find enough load to get to 35-40 amp. About the only other thing I might look at is the water in the batteries. OK thought of one more chore for you to keep you busy. Clean the air filters on the AC/Heat pumps they need to be checked and cleaned or replaced as needed. I am sure others will have a long list but the rest can wait for annual maintenance. Or we can send you a daily work list. Wash and wax the coach, clean and dress the tires and polish the rims. Bill -
Thanks for the up date. Glad you had a good result. Bill

So why don't you add your coach to your profile and signature lines? Bill

I would start in the nose area not under the dash if that was where the problem was before. Use a piece of hose to listen for air leaks. Bill

Yes I was wondering if the drain pipes are the right size and they installed the wrong size valves or what? If the drain pipes are right it would be easy to replace the right valves. Bill

I don't see why you can't do it your self if you have the equipment. Bill

Not a problem just keep an eye on the long range weather reports. If a storm does catch you just stop for a day or so till things improve. Bill

Yes unfortunately this gasket is trying to do two things, be a gasket and a isolation damper to keep the vibration noise out of the RV. Over compressing it will cause it to fail and need to be replaced. I am going to try to remember the next time I change one to see what the final torque is. Bill

That sounds good. You can stay west of the hills in Tennessee by coming down that way. When are you planning on leaving? Bill
-
So coming down I-55? I haven't stayed in Memphis. When going East I head for Nashville. Little Rock - Nashville = a good day. Bill
-
When I head out North East, Little Rock is my favorite first day stop. Downtown Riverside RV Park 250 S Locust St, North Little Rock, AR 72114, northlittlerock.org, (501) 340-5312 I-30 is like a lot of roads some good areas some not so great. I thought 40 west of Littlerock was much rougher. What route are you taking to get to Little Rock? Bill

The key is snug. I don't have a set torque number. You want to tighten the bolts but not totally crush the gasket. When I use a ratchet I place my hand on the head and don't use the whole length of the handle to tighten the bolts. You can bend the brackets if you get to much torque. If I was to use a torque wrench I would go about 65-75 inch pounds. Bill

I have driven it many times. The last was in September. What is your question? Bill

Hear are a couple of video that might help you identify the parts. This may not be your unit but the parts and terminology is helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCqiVqZx5k4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpnG50EpQb0 I would get a copy of the right manual from the site that Wolfe10 posted. Welcome to the forum.I have talked to a couple of people who have Continental HSL2 tires these are Continental's low rolling resistance fuel saving tire and they are happy with them. Hearer is a fun site for comparing tier size. https://tiresize.com/comparison/ Bill

It is always fun to see what other dealers will offer here is another dealer. Might be fun to see what they will do against your other deals. http://www.vogtrv.com/default.asp?page=xNewInventory&vt=motorhome&make=tiffin+motorhomes&t=new&gclid=CjwKEAiA8K20BRDetNv3p6DNhXwSJADSwa3tT4SM8CmidsthjzLc9w2zpMsfsnRl8A2ca981XhnVuRoCYSrw_wcB#page=xNewInventory&vt=motorhome&make=tiffin+motorhomes&t=new Bill

Residential Fridge Vs Rock&Rolls & Rough Roads
wildebill308 replied to chp007kd40's topic in Type A motorhomes
I have read a lot of post about converting to a residential refrigerator. I have never seen a post that was negative about the change over. I have never see a negative post about longevity of the residential refrigerators. I was thinking about it and I think that is quite remarkable. We hear about the bad negative things first on the forums before good things. I am wondering about the need for a separate battery bank and a second inverter/charger set-up. How many batteries do you have now? I am guessing that you have 4ea 6 volt batteries now. With the low draw of the new refrigerators and they don't run all the time why you would need a separate smaller battery bank. Bill -
Winter Travel - Driving with Furnace Running
wildebill308 replied to rfsod48's topic in Type A motorhomes
I would use propane for water heater, refrigerator and furnace. Bill -
The first thing I would do is check your u joints in the drive shaft also check for play in the carrier bering you might have two of them. Vibration in that speed range is most likely in your driveshaft. Bill

Winter Travel - Driving with Furnace Running
wildebill308 replied to rfsod48's topic in Type A motorhomes
Happy New Year and welcome to the forum. They must have extra small propane tanks. I have a 25 gal tank and can easily go 10 days running both furnace's the hot water heater and the refrigerator. I agree it is smart to keep an eye on your tank level till you have a history of how long it will last. I have a small ceramic cube I keep in the wet bay as added insurance when stopped and hooked up to shore power. I have never had a problem with anything freezing on the road but the coldest we have seen was -5. Also turn on your block heater over night so you don't have to wait to start. If it is realey cold clearing the windshield (inside) is chore and having the engine up to temp quicker is a help. Bill -
Happy New Year back at you. It sounds like it is time for you to sit and be retired for at least a couple of hours. Bill

Dash Heater Blows Cold Air: Fleetwood Discovery
wildebill308 replied to rckozy's topic in Systems and Appliances
OK, I am going to wait till you tell us what the water/coolant temperature is before telling you to change the thermostat. My gage stays in the first 1/4 of the gage for normal operation and it is at the proper temp. Note the hoses will be cold because the engine isn't running to pump water through them. Bill -
My CR-V does not register mileage. The only car that would do that is one with a mechanical speedometer. Bill
