Motorhome To Pull 15k-18k Stacker Trailer
wildebill308 replied to gregrock68's topic in Buying an RV
Lets go back to what Wolfe10 said "Tell us what price range you are in" If you have deep enough pockets just drive your motor home and have one of your people drive the toater with the stacker. I don't know of that many coaches that have over 10,000 lbs. rated towing capacity. Just because some one wants to do something doesn't always make it safe or practical. Said another way just because some one has done it and got away with it doesn't make it a safe practice. On the other hand I know a guy who will build you what ever you fancy. Bill -
Well the big question is where are you located and where are you traveling? The above discussion covered at least 2 different tags. The main one is the EZ-Pass that covers most of the east coast. Florida has their own system. The Texas toll tag is only in Texas. They are working to create a interoperability but so far it hasn't happened. Bill

Tireman9, Thanks for the links to the video. Very interesting to see all the work that goes into inspecting a tier before re treading. The part some still miss is the casings are still less than 7 years old. I would bet most are under 4-5 years old. Over the road trucks put a lot of miles on with heavier loads and wear out the tread much faster than on a coach. I don't think I have ever seen someone changing tires because they were worn out on a coach with 22.5 tiers. OK I have seen some with suspension problems wear the tread off unevenly but that is the only case. Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year Bill

What part of it isn't about the mileage but the age of the tires aren't you understanding? Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year Bill

You are right several have posted that their refrigerator was rated at or under 5 amps of 120 VAC. I don't think this should be that big of a load even considering the inefficiencies of the inverter. I think say 6 amps 120VAC will cost you about +/- 66 amps DC. I don't see it as that big of a load on a 160 amp alternator. What do you think? Bill

What is the date code on the tire. That is the important question not how they look. Please go read the thread above this guy might have 10 year old tire and he is being recommended to change them before going any where. Now if you have original tires they would be 15+ years old. You think it is a nice coach right? You can do many, many thousands of dollars damage if a tire blows out if it doesn't result in a crash. What is the date code on the tire. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Bill

Those must be some industrial grade cell phones. I did some reading on loads on your Leech Neville alternator and I can't find any warnings about loads causing damage. They even have a section on their web site talking about plugging in spot lights and other heavy loads. Yes if you ran near max capacity all the time and in high temperatures I can see it being a problem. I don't see your refrigerator being that big of a load. Don't most draw less than 5 amps? I would get a good amp gage in the right range and see what the draw really was. Hear is a link http://www.prestolite.com/pgs_support/alt_install.php Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Bill

$32 Mistake Putting Seals In Sealand Toilet
wildebill308 replied to lylefikse's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Huff I had that happen and guess what it was the only time the seal kept the water from leaking out of the bowl. Bill -
Well it is sad when you spend that much money and don't do your due diligence. Why would you take possession if it had a bunch or problems? Once you sign that paperwork you have lost almost all of your clout. Why would you wait till it was out of warranty to start complaining? It seams the OP who has a total of 2 post continued to travel and use the coach with out getting the items fixed. Then is complaining about the "extender warranty" not being that good. How many times have I said there are to many loopholes in any extended warranty. Bill

Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Montreal & Quebec Campgrounds

You will be hard pressed to find a place in the north east that doesn't have permanent/seasonal sites. I was in about 40 last summer and most had them. I never had a problem. Bill -
Wonder What Sam Walton Would Think Of This
wildebill308 replied to wildebill308's topic in General Discussion
I never seined anything saying I could type or spell. I think a composite body on aluminum frame with composite bracing would shave about 40+ percent of the weight. I like the electric drive with a small power plant to keep the battery's charged. Here is something I posted (somewhere else) about using composite: I like carbon fiber parts. The only problem is you need a autoclave to cure the finished/semi finished parts. Here is a link to my old job where you can see several autoclaves in the top picture in the article. http://www.compositesworld.com/news/sierra-nevada-lockheed-martin-unveil-dream-chaser-composite-structure I was working on the F-35 and it has a lot of composite. With one this big you could make the entire RV from composite.http://www.aschome.com/index.php/en/asc-completes-worlds-largest-autoclave There are places doing work on building parts with out using a autoclave. http://www.gmtcomposites.com/why/autoclave I think you will see more use of 3D printing to make parts. Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Montreal & Quebec Campgrounds
wildebill308 replied to norsula's topic in Campgrounds
Glad to help. The campgrounds in the North East seem to be of the older style and have never been upgraded. You can use Google Earth to see some of the campgrounds. I spent 3 months up that way last summer. Bill -
I am hoping some of the technology trickles down to the TV industry. This is Walmart's new concept truck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NER9X4_gtYk Bill

Any Women Class A Drivers?
wildebill308 replied to romanpaula@netscape.net's topic in Type A motorhomes
First make sure you can tow your car 4 down. When you get it set up you will be amazed how easy it is to tow. The only thing is you can't back up but that isn't a problem if you plan your stops. The only time I had to un hook the toad and turn the motorhome around was this summer when a state park gave me bad directions on how to get to their park. I will not go anywhere with out a toad you give up so much not having one. Bill -
Tom, one thing I like about the portable one over the permanent installed one is I have used mine to go check sites before parking the RV. This summer at Galveston State Park I had a bad power pedestal and had to move. I used the Surge Guard to go check several other sites to make sure I had good power before moving. I have been in several campgrounds where they say "go find a spot and let us know where you parked" So I check the power before picking a site. I will keep on using my portable until I get something like this. http://got50amps.com/ Bill

Beach Destination From Oklahoma For Spring Break
wildebill308 replied to wesgiv's topic in Campgrounds
Welcome to the forum. You have a interesting coach, I think they only made 23 that year. I would stay away from Galveston to as it is a prime area for spring break. I would look at the areas TBUTLER posted. Bill -

wildebill308 replied to norsula's topic in Campgrounds
What time of the year are you going? You will need your Passports. I would stay on this side and take the toad across. I was in the area two years ago and stayed out near Lockport I don't remember the name of the place and probably wouldn't recommend it to a friend. Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging, 2405 Niagara Falls Blvd, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, niagarafallscampground.net, (716) 731-3434. Doesn't look to bad and it is close in. I would check them out in http://www.rvparkreviews.com/. There is a KOA in the area and should be OK. There is a couple days of things to do on the Canadian side. Don't forget to ride the Maid Of The Mist. Visit the Canal Side area of Buffalo https://www.canalsidebuffalo.com/visit-canalside/ They have done a great job of revitalizing this area. I was impressed this last summer. Bill -
Welcome to the forum. If you need power you can request a site with power. It cost more but if your husband absolutely needs power it might be a solution. It would help if you put your coach and other info in your signature to get better answers. See Brett's signature. With out knowing what coach you have there is no way to guess what your capacity's are. This last October While attending the FMCA 6 state rally in Conroe Texas I scheduled a water delivery and pump out jut over half way. If I remember right I got there on Sat and did the service on Thursday. I didn't have any problems. Bill

Great, congratulations on your new coach and welcome to the forum. Bill

Good catch Tom I didn't look at the dates above Georgew48's post. Bill
