  1. I have one too but I wasn't going to recommend it because lately they have been the most expensive. It might be a good thing to get incase of emergency's where you needed to use them it would be some discount. Example last month coming back from the coast Piolt/Flying J was $2.48 Buck-EE's was $2.07. Bill
  2. Quite interesting I re visited the Honda website and looked at BOTH the Owner's Manual and the Owner's Guide. Apparently there has been a revision. The one I looked at last time did not have any provision for Transport using Wheel lift equipment. Now it says under Emergency towing on page 461. Call a professional towing service if you need to tow your vehicle. All models, Flat bed equipment. The operator loads your vehicle on the back of a truck. This is the best way to transport your vehicle. Wheel lift equipment the tow truck uses two pivoting arms that go under the front tires and lift them off the ground. The rear tires remain on the ground. This is an acceptable way to tow your vehicle.(2 wheel drive only) Now interestingly in the notes it does not differentiate between the auto and 6 speed and says “Improper towing such as towing behind a motorhome or other motor vehicle can damage the transmission.” Now it appears they have added a whole new section under Towing on page 320 where it addresses towing the manual transmission cars. The Owner's Guide mimics the emergency towing info on page 107 I found nothing about towing the manual in the Owner's Guide. Good catch, interesting how they can change content with the click of a mouse. Bill
  3. I think you could defer this till after your trip. If you do develop a leak you can add a little Dicor self -leveling sealant on the flat surface and the non sag variety if it is more vertical. http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunum=32127&rewrote&affiliateid=5193&gclid=Cj0KEQiAg7ayBRD8qqSGt-fj6uYBEiQAucjOwabOoixUPuTxkfq8fdHyVAZe5-N4h7lC_k6Z1Rxc7RwaAkd48P8HAQ They have some videos on the link and there are others on YouTube. At some point it will be time to do your Annual Maintenance. I don't remember if you have had all your maintenance brought up to date yet. Bill
  4. Yes that ($100.00) is the standard cutoff for pumps. I normally start looking for fuel at 1/2 tank. I don't know why you couldn't run your card the 3ed time may be the station. You should be happy that prices are so nice and low this year. I still recommend the Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement in the white bottle for on your trip. Did you check how much propane you have? Bill
  5. I have heard good things about Continental HSL2 tires they are Continental's low rolling resistance fuel saving tire. Bill
  6. Well Dave and Judy let the FUN begin! Congratulations on getting the deal done. Bill
  7. That is good information. Thanks for getting the word out. Bill
  8. David, did you go to their website and see all the restaurants under their umbrella? Bill
  9. David, Welcome to the adventure of learning and shaking down a new coach. How much propane do you have on board? You might top it up while you are out that way you will be ready for the trip. If you can get in I would fill up at the local Walmart for $1.89. The sticker shock will be bad enough at the lower price. I like to get on the outside of the last/outer fuel island. Just watch when pulling in and out don't crowd the pumps and when leaving watch your tail swing. As you already have a guy coming to go over things with you it might be a good thing to have him show you how to check the filters like Brett said. New filters aren't that expensive. I run Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement in the white bottle in the summer time and if I think the temps might be below freezing I run the gray bottle that has an antigel additive. For a new to me coach I would run a double the dose to start with. I would also run the generator while I had the initial treatment. Diesel Kleen is suppose to lubricate pumps and injectors, Clean diesel injectors and Boost Cetane of fuel up to 6 numbers. You can by it at Walmart. The Biocide that Brett recommended is a good idea to. Don't let the people who are showing you things on your coach rush you if you have questions or you aren't clear have them go over it again. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Bill
  10. This place claims they park larger trucks. You might call and see what the rates are. https://www.newsouthparkingfpp-tx.com/fpp/reservation/ Bill
  11. When I was in Houston early October I stayed at Eastlake RV Resort, 11802 Lockwood Rd, Houston, TX 77044, (832) 243-6919 http://www.eastlakervresort.com/You might call them. Or try Northlake RV Resort, 1919 Humble Westfield Rd, Houston, TX 77073,, (281) 209-1770, http://northlakervresort.com/. Both are fairly close to the airport. Bill
  12. Hear are 2 sites you can use to find RV parks. http://www.rvparky.com/ and http://www.rvparkreviews.com/ Bill
  13. You are right I have a 2014 CR-V I was thinking about waiting for the 2015 models to come out but found out they would not be towable 4 down so I got a 2014. I just looked through a 2016 HRV Owners manual. There is no section for "Recreational towing" and it states there is no emergency tow procedure that you should have it picked up by a truck. One other thing about towing If you use a dolly you can't tow an all wheel drive CR-V with just two wheels on the ground. Bill
  14. Glad you are getting the coach ready to roll. It's not that long till Conroe. Looking forward to your write up on installing your new Samsung Refrigerator. I think that may be the rout I go if I have a problem with my frig. Bill
  15. If you do a search on Google look for bolt markings. You should be able to bring up reference material describing what each of the markings on the bolt head mean. Bill
  16. Let us know how that works out for you. Going from a temperpedic to a stock mattress that in the best of terms is FIRM. I would try to take a nap on it now before you are on the road. Bill
  17. I also renewed with Coachnet. Bill
  18. So you are going to stop at South Of The Border. You probably already have this site RV Park Reviews but if not hear is the address: http://www.rvparkreviews.com/ Now if you stop in Galveston you will have your Condo with you. You know Landry's has several places in Galveston they are always worth checking out for a GREAT meal. Like Willie G's down near where the cruse ships dock. Are you a member of Landry's rewards: http://www.landrysinc.com/selectclub.asp Yes Winter Haven is about as far south as you can go. We haven't stayed there but went to a rally at Texas Trails RV Resort last February. it is in Pharr which is in the Edinburg, McAllen area just up the road. Galveston, Rockport, Brownsville, look like good "stepping stones" down the cost. Bill
  19. I never run my slides with out either the engine running or shore power or the generator. All coaches seem to have different procedures for operating the slides but I bet you should have some other power available and not just the battery's. Especially when you know you have a marginal battery bank. Bill
  20. It sounds like you have some fun plans for using your airline miles. Have you picked what area in Texas you would like to visit? I posted the information on the Lagoons RV park as a suggestion. Now you will probably be coming from Florida on I-10. I would recommend stopping for a couple of days in Galveston. We have stayed at Dellanera RV Park 10901 Termini-San Luis Pass Rd, Galveston, TX 77554, (409) 797-5102 galveston.com Nice place next to the beach. Let me know I can recommend some places to eat, too. Yes you can get by renting a car. Hear is that big BUT. You are going to set it up any way why not have it with you and not have to hassle with the rental car places. Just saying you had to put up with dealing with them when you had to travel. Now please go re read the part I said about your first day it will make the start of your trip easier. I see two many people who want to drive 5-600 miles their first day. I drive between 250-350 miles a day. Just how excited are you, quiting work and going on a great trip. Bill
  21. Congratulations on your new coach. I am going to play the devils advocate here. I say get the car set up and take it with you. If you think you need practice take the coach with the car hooked up on a couple hour drive locally. You will see just how easy it is. You are going out for 2 1/2 mouths that is a long time not to have your toad. Especially since this is your first trip. Once you get started you will have to look in the rearview camera to make sure you still have a toad (you won't know it's back there). The added level of convince having a toad, way outweighs any inconvenience. I do recommend you make a short day of it the first day. 150-200 miles would be as far as I would run. You want to get into a campground early so you aren't tired when you have to set up the first time. Get a pull through the first time. Trust me it doesn't sound like much but the excitement of leaving on the first trip and the first long drive plus setting up will be PLENTY for your first day. You are going to want some time to set in your camp chair, look at your coach and smile. Bill
  22. This is why I always recommend a good surge protector. Hear is a link to a post I made about what happened to me. http://community.fmca.com/topic/8614-surge-protector-saved-me-one-more-time/ Hope you get your problem sorted out. Bill
  23. It is amazing that it won't work on a motorhome but it works on a F-35. Just saying. Bill
  24. I think when I got Coachnet the first time it was through FMCA and had a discount. I haven't had any problems so I can't say but I have seen fewer negative post about CN than the others. So I would recommend CN. Bill
