  1. Well Lucky dog 1949 has gotten a lot of "honest" answers to his question. To bad he hasn't posted on this thread again since starting it. I believe that all of them are right and correct. Now you might ask how can this be? The answer is simple there are to many variables. I don't think 2 people driving the same make model coach on a test track can get the same mileage. We all like Gas Mileage threads because many like to brag how well they did and some want sympathy for how bad theirs is. One big takeaway I have is how much better engines have gotten in the last 20 years. As coaches have continued to grow in size and weight and engines continue to grow and become more sophisticated mileage has stayed about the same. I think the newer after treatment engines are getting better mileage than ever. I think it is amazing that a 50,000 lb coach can get what 5-8 or more. While the smaller /lighter coaches are getting 10+. Now you have to account for driving conditions and driving style. That can put the mileage back in the lower ranges. I can see how it is an important subject for the newer members who may not have as much experience driving a coach. I remember taking pictures of the first fill up over $250.00. This isn't like filling the Civic. It is nice to have the reassurance that this is normal, if scary. Bill
  2. What is leaking? Where? How did you get a big leak sitting at home? Bill
  3. It sounds like it is catching as it starts in. I would call the manufacture and see if there is a fix. I remember reading about a fix but don't remember all the details. The problem as I remember is the slide didn't lift fast enough to clear the edge of the floor when it started in. It could also be out of adjustment. What make slide mechanism do you have? To get better answers it is recommended to put your coach details in your signature. Bill
  4. If you have hookups leave the gray water valve open. It won't hurt anything and you can run the washer without overflowing your tank. I dump the black tank as needed. I like to add extra water before dumping then use the tank sprayer to make sure it was empty. I stayed at several campgrounds this summer that didn't have sewer at the site. You learn to be very water aware. Bill
  5. Hope you can get it fixed they can't start in Conroe without you.
  6. Tom, I have to agree with you. Most don't run the complete brake check and it is a good thing to do on a regular basis. I think a set of chocks is a good idea but I must admit I don't have any but I am going to be looking. Are you coming to the 6 state rally in Conroe? Bill
  7. Thank you for your input but the OP probably has made his mind up as this thread is a year+ old. This is one of those questions that will come up almost as often as questions on fuel mileage. Bill
  8. I don't know if yours is the same as my Bounder. Try lifting the bed-- you may have to pull the aft part of the bed frame. There is a section with carpet on it that will pull out toward the passenger side and lift up. Under that is a panel with some screws in it like the closet floor. Good luck Bill
  9. Welcome to the forum. You have 2 very reliable indicators as to when your tanks are absolutely full. You can tell when the gray water tank has reached it's max capacity by looking in the shower, if you have water in the bottom of the shower and it won't go down your gray water tank is full. If you flush the commode and it doesn't go down, well you waited just a little to long to dump. Seriously are you at a RV park with hookups or some place where you have to move to use the dump station? If your tanks are filling up to fast you either have to dump or do a better job of water management. "My question is when the led light hits the full mark how much more room do I have?" To many variables between coaches. The only way you might come up with a number is to fill the tanks to where the lights show full then use a 5 gallon bucket keep adding till you reach absolute full. Bill
  10. Stayed at Yellowstone's Edge last year. I thought it worked great. I liked watching the river roll by and the fishing guides working the river. Interesting little factoid, the river flows North out of the park. Bill
  11. You might call and talk to them now and plan on stopping on the way through as it is a ways from the valley. Bill
  12. Try calling Texas Custom Coach, 10498 TX-16, Pipe Creek, TX 78063, texascustomcoach.com, (830) 510-4224 They are just outside San Antonio on TX-16 going to Bandera. We toured them when we were in town for a rally. Very impressive work. They do all kinds of custom and repair work. Bill
  13. Congratulations on your new coach. I see you already have a toad and a doggy in the window. Bill
  14. I use a Velcro strap to keep the coil cord from sagging/dragging. I just had to tape up some damage I found where something had hit and cut the outer covering. Bill
  15. I have an older Brake Buddy and have never had a problem. I suppose if you didn't set it up right you could have a problem but that is with any supplemental braking devise. Bill
  16. Interesting that I have never seen them or seen advertising saying they offer that service at rally's or shows. I did not see them at Perry Ga. this last time. I will be at the FMCA 6 state in Conroe next month and I will look for them. Bill
  17. Once gain this is a 3 year old post. It unlikely they are following it. Bill
  18. Welcome to the forum vgsully. It is simple enough go to the Michelin web site in this case for the XRV http://www.michelinrvtires.com/tires/selector/#!/info/xrv Here are the main things you will need to match in a different brand. Overall Diameter 37.1 in, Overall Width 9.2 in, Max Load Per Tire Single 4675/110 lbs/psi, Max Load Per Tire Dual 4410/110 lbs/psi All you have to do is match with, diameter and load range. Good year says 235/80R22.5 = 245/75R22.5 Bill
  19. You did notice this is a 3 year old post. Bill
  20. Not always, The female chuck in the front of your coach is so the tow truck can connect a air hose. They use a task made hose that has male fittings on both ends. Bill
  21. That exhaust pipe gets HOT you might try adding a heat shield over it. Adding an extension probably won't make that much difference. Bill
  22. As good scouts you probably have scouted out Pharr places. I was in Pharr, TX this February. May be down that way again after the FMCA rally in Cornrow in October. Bill
  23. Find the floor plan you and especially your wife likes. The only downside to a rear bath is if you don't have a half bath in the middle if you have company or kids they have to go through the bedroom to get to the bathroom at night. Bill
  24. I was doing some reading on this subject. Both Cat and Cummins say you don't need any additives. The big caveat is "if the fuel meets the required standards." Now how do we know if the fuel meets all the requirements? Now it is interesting that Cat says that additives will not improve performance but may "restore" performance. They now recommend 256-4968 Caterpillar fuel conditioner can improves mileage by 2-3%. They also recommend, 343-6210 Caterpillar Fuel system cleaner. Cummins only approves products manufactured by Cummins or it’s subsidiaries. https://www.cumminsfiltration.com/pdfs/product_lit/americas_brochures/LT32599_08.pdf So while saying you don't need additives they sell and recommend them. I am going to continue to run the Fleetguard Asphaltene Conditioner or Diesel Kleen. Bill
