  1. Welcome to the forum. Before you run out and by a new diesel and find out you still don't have a smooth ride on the rough roads there are a few things that might help your current ride. I would weigh your coach and set my tier pressure to the tier manufactures weight tables. This may soften the bumps. Check your shocks and upgrade if needed. Check your bushings on the sway brace. Bill
  2. The OP is talking about renting a class A, not renting his out. Bill
  3. Glad you finally got "re tired" I know those have been hard to come by. Where are you looking for winter digs? Bill
  4. Some times when the filter is dirty it causes a vacuum in the return side that will try to pull air in through the condensation drains. This keeps the water from draining and will drip on the inside. Good idea to clean/replace the filters often. Bill
  5. I would put that money in a savings account. Most of the warranty/insurance contracts have so many disclaimers that they can deny nearly all claims. Do a search there are many post hear about being denied and few about getting something fixed. I self insure and so far I have replaced a convection microwave for $430.00 and a slide relay for $110.00 in the last 3 years. If you do your maintenance you shouldn't have any problems. In your case you have a newer coach and by now should have all the little problems fixed. I would think you should be able to go a long time with no problems. We hear about the problems people have hear on the forum but never hear about the coaches on the road who never have a problem. Bottom line you have to do what makes you happy. Yes you absolutely need Coach Net. Don't leave home with out it. Bill
  6. I did see a Class A diesel at 350 a day locally. Yes it may be expensive but cheaper than buying then 4-6 mouths later selling at a big discount. Bill
  7. Not that familiar with the Richmond, VA area. What are you looking for gas or diesel? There are a couple of places but I don't think they rent class A coaches. You might call and see if they know of anyone. Cruise America (804) 658-1422 Or Freedom RV 804-798-3379. Good luck. Bill
  8. Welcome to the forum. It is ok to tell us why. But let me guess. Your break away cable got pulled or your auxiliary brake system wasn't installed right or you didn't pump your brakes before you towed. But please inform us. Bill
  9. That does sound a little low on the mileage. What speed are you cruising? Have you weighed the coach? What was done for the tune up by who? Did you see if it had any codes? Bill
  10. Welcome to the forum. As Herman said what is your experience level and I am wondering how you settled on these two coaches. I would recommend looking at used coaches to start with (after doing the rental thing as Herman recommended) as you will learn a lot about how a floor plan works for you by living in one. After some experience you may be better able to select something better suited to your likes and lifestyle. Bill
  11. I have had similar experience at several RV shows. If I didn't want to buy a coach there was very little to see or do. If you didn't want to buy cookware or aluminum siding or time shares you were out of luck. There was a very limited amount of accessory's or services represented. This included the big RV show in Dallas last month. Bill
  12. I would not buy a used base plate there is a chance it may have hidden damage. I bought a used tow bar and Brake Buddy off Craig's list. I bought a 10,000 pound rated tow bar that way if I changed toads and the new one was heavier I wouldn't need a heavier rated tow bar. I also like a little extra margin for safety. Always make sure the tow bar and baseplate are compatible. You will also need a light kit for your Jeep. I like this one as the LED lights won't damage your lenses and are small and easy to find a place to locate them in your lights. http://www.blueoxtowbars.com/products/Blue_Ox_Tail_Light_Wiring_Kit___Clear_L_E_D_,BX88269 You will also need a coil cord to connect the lights to your RV 7 pin trailer plug. Did I mention safety cables. Bill
  13. Check the bushings in the sway bar brace. They could be bad, not only the ones at the ends but the ones mounting to the frame. Bill
  14. The two units you posted links to are dehumidifiers and will not prevent freezing as they don't provide enough heat. This is what I have. http://www.amazon.com/Holmes-Compact-Ceramic-Heater-Thermostat/dp/B000V50GI0 Bill
  15. Well just as you have been advised, you should change your oil to keep your warranty in place. After you are out of warranty you can change it when ever you want. I still maintain changing it in the fall is the best practice. I would much rather have new oil with a complete additive package rather than letting it set with older more contaminated oil. Remember if you should get moister it will possibly cause more damage with the older oil. I also pull the oil sample far enough before your oil change you can get the results back. This way if you have a large change in your results you can do a second sample to verify the results. Bill
  16. Yes sampling the different brews is a worth wile past time. You might also like this bakery it is called "When Pigs Fly" https://www.sendbread.com/ You should look at Freeport home of LL Bean and a huge outlet shopping area. This is to reward your wife for driving you home from the brew pubs. Bill
  17. I tow a 2014 CRV all wheel drive 4 down with no problem. I know of no problems on the 2012. Please read your owners manual and follow the procedure exactly. Most important is to NEVER go into neutral as your last shift before towing from reverse, always go into neutral from drive. The only other thing to be aware of is never tow your all wheel drive on a dolly with only 2 tires on the ground. Bill
  18. We stayed hear and it was a nice campground. I chose it because of the location as most of the things we were doing were in Portland or north of town/Free Port. Wild Duck Campground 39 Dunstan Landing Rd, Scarborough, ME 04074 wildduckcampground.com (207) 883-4432 Take the kids to Portland Pies for great Pie. http://www.portlandpie.com/ Bill
  19. Marvin welcome to the forum. I am sorry for your problem. Where are you located? I would do a search for places that do custom RV work. I have visited several and they can do some amazing work. Don't let the insurance company push you into a place you aren't happy with. Bill
  20. You are right they might have some un flattering comments. I can slide under my coach with the bags down so I don't worry to much about airing up the bags or that they might suddenly blow (I have never heard of this). But it is always wiser to err on the side of safety. Bill
  21. Welcome to the forum. Call Gaffney help desk: 1-800-385-4357 1-800-FTL-HELP its answered 24/7/365. You will need the last four of your VIN They can tell you or send wiring diagrams. Bill

  23. Well my surge protector saved me one more time. Stopped off at Galveston Island State park on the way home from the FMCA 6 state rally in Conroe. Plugged my Surge Guard in and got a reading of Reverse Polarity and bad ground. Called the office and they worked on it for a while then told me it was good. Well the Surge Guard was still giving me the same report. So I ended up moving to s different spot. I am still amazed at how many people tell me they never had a problem and don’t need a Surge Guard or some other protection for their rigs. This reminds me of the old saying “Pay me now or pay me latter”. If you don’t have a Surge Guard you may be paying a lot latter. Bill
  24. Lots of good ideas. I don't Boondock in the extreme (no hook ups) as some do. What I have run into in some places is no sewer or the combo of no water or sewer. I am currently in Galveston state park Texas, power and water but no sewer, dump stations are available. One thing is use the used dish water to flush the toilet as I think someone mentioned. You will find the gray tank will fill up much faster than the black tank. Use the local shower house/restrooms when ever you can. I can go over a week if I am carful. This summer in Lake Erie State park all I had was power so I would go to the dump station once a week and refill my fresh water tank. Bill
  25. Some day it might but right now there just isn't enough space to put enough panels to power the ac. I don't know of any way to use some solar and some shore power or some generator. Unfortunately it is one or the other. Solar is grate if you are camping off the grid but won't power the ac. Bill
