  1. That is a great area. Congratulations on your 40th wedding anniversary. Bill
  2. There is a BIG difference in touching and leaving scratches in the paint all down the side. Why would you not keep the branches cleared out if your are catering to RVs? Most are about the same height and width so that should be pretty simple to keep brush and limbs cleared out so they don't touch/drag on the RV. So tell me how driving skills can compensate for a poorly maintained RV park. Bill
  3. I think etrailer may be a good place to look. call them and ask. Bill
  4. Welcome to the forum. I would look at places like etrailer.com. What is the number cast into the tail light? Bill
  5. Go to YouTube there are several post about wintering in a RV. I don't know as I don't do snow in the RV. I would get setup now with a propane dealer with a couple big tanks. Bill
  6. The problem got better when they had to stop venting the crankcase blowby to the atmosphere. See all the post about "Slobber tubes".Not having a oily film to catch dirt and dust helped the radiator and CAC to stay clean. They still can get plugged up and it is in between the CAC and radiator where you will find the majority of the problem. Bill
  7. Welcome to the forum. We use several apps to check out places to stay. When in doubt just call. There is no governing body that polices what the places say. My fav is a place near Watkins Glen a couple years ago (I can't find the name right now). They had Big Rig Friendly all over their site. When I called and asked they said "Yes we are Big Rig Friendly we can handle rigs all the way to 30'. We didn't stay there. Bill
  8. Welcome to the forum Bud H. I would go with all the above and have the level of gear oil checked in the differential. When you get a new to you coach it is good to zero out the maintenance. Bill
  9. I leave the weight on the tires and have plywood pads under them. I dump the air and let the coach set on the bump stops during storage. Fortunately it doesn't sit to long we got back from a trip on Sep. 3 and plan to be on the road the 23. I haven't had any problems with the tires. Bill
  10. Didn't make it that far north. Please go re read what I said. So, realey Mr. "Besides being an engineer, I am a martial artist and a racer" perhaps you should go read "Tireman's" blog and post and you won't be making comments like this. Most people even racers understand heat is bad for tires. Running 85 on the roads around LAs Vegas in the heat above the speed rating is a recipe for trouble. Richard, I have to agree with you. Mr. "Besides being an engineer, I am a martial artist and a racer" may get to find out what runaway ramps are for. I think it is going to be a sad sad day for Mr. "Besides being an engineer, I am a martial artist and a racer" when he finds this mystical rig that is supposed to fly up any hill and it isn't any better/faster than yours or Carl's or my rig. Now I do know where to get a engine that will do it but that takes DEEP pockets. Bill
  11. I just re read this thread and it makes an interesting if somewhat unrealistic premis. It is a nice fantasy that you will have a coach that will fly over any hill just put it in "D" and go. I have driven all the places you speak about with a little 5.9 Cummins in a 38ft coach. Never had a problem getting over any of them. Just drove the Raton pass on I-25 at the south Colorado line and was down to about 25 mph in my current coach. Not because it won't pull but the outher reality called "traffic and construction zones" near the top it narrows to one lane. You can't go faster than conditions allow. Speaking of which anyone who thinks it is "cool" to drive faster than the speed rating on their tires is STUPID. Have fun with your fantasy. Bill
  12. Welcome to the forum. I leave it on and the coach plugged in. Bill
  13. Welcome to the forum Andy. Which Ford chassis do you have? There are several upgrades available. Safe-T-Plus would be a good start. Bill
  14. I am partial to Texas. For all the reasons you listed. Bill
  15. Got this on Face Book. FMCA, the world's largest nonprofit association for RV owners, has announced that it has entered into a partnership with Keystone RV to help "enhance the RV lifestyle" for Keystone owners. Read the full press release here: http://bit.ly/FMCA-KeystoneRV #rvindustry #rv #fmcaRV #camping #keystone #fmca Bill
  16. Please explain to me why all Forest River owners weren't welcome before? Why now are they only welcoming members with motorised RVs? I see as usual D Ball and crew are sitting on their thumbs and not engaged. Bill
  17. Good looking coach!! Welcome to the forum. Bill
  18. I wonder how the OP is doing with his problem? Bill
  19. While that may sound good it may not be the best additive package for your diesel. Saying you have "boosted zinc" is meaningless without specifics or context. The price is like buying retail from Camping World. $37.00 a gallon (the discount price) for an oil that is not SAE certified. MOLYBDENUM, POTASSIUM, BORON, SILICON, CALCIUM, MAGNESIUM, PHOSPHORUS, ZINC are all important additives in the additive package for your oil. All are expressed in PPM. Without doing a full oil sample/ analysis you can't tell what is going on or what you have. I have been doing samples for years (yes at one time I worked in a oil lab) and that is why now I run Shell rotella T-6. I am geting better reports. I like the 5-40 becue it flows faster to critical parts like that expensive turbo. That and it is $18.88 gal. Bill
  20. The problem is most dishwashing detergents are fairly alkaline, probably at pH 11 or 12 or so and that will cause corrosion on aluminium. The key is to do a realey good rince. Bill
  21. Glad to see you on the forum. It has been a while. Bill
