I leave the weight on the tires and have plywood pads under them. I dump the air and let the coach set on the bump stops during storage. Fortunately it doesn't sit to long we got back from a trip on Sep. 3 and plan to be on the road the 23. I haven't had any problems with the tires. Bill

Where are the pictures? Bill -
Richard, You are absolutely right. Bill

Didn't make it that far north. Please go re read what I said. So, realey Mr. "Besides being an engineer, I am a martial artist and a racer" perhaps you should go read "Tireman's" blog and post and you won't be making comments like this. Most people even racers understand heat is bad for tires. Running 85 on the roads around LAs Vegas in the heat above the speed rating is a recipe for trouble. Richard, I have to agree with you. Mr. "Besides being an engineer, I am a martial artist and a racer" may get to find out what runaway ramps are for. I think it is going to be a sad sad day for Mr. "Besides being an engineer, I am a martial artist and a racer" when he finds this mystical rig that is supposed to fly up any hill and it isn't any better/faster than yours or Carl's or my rig. Now I do know where to get a engine that will do it but that takes DEEP pockets. Bill

I just re read this thread and it makes an interesting if somewhat unrealistic premis. It is a nice fantasy that you will have a coach that will fly over any hill just put it in "D" and go. I have driven all the places you speak about with a little 5.9 Cummins in a 38ft coach. Never had a problem getting over any of them. Just drove the Raton pass on I-25 at the south Colorado line and was down to about 25 mph in my current coach. Not because it won't pull but the outher reality called "traffic and construction zones" near the top it narrows to one lane. You can't go faster than conditions allow. Speaking of which anyone who thinks it is "cool" to drive faster than the speed rating on their tires is STUPID. Have fun with your fantasy. Bill

Welcome to the forum Andy. Which Ford chassis do you have? There are several upgrades available. Safe-T-Plus would be a good start. Bill

I am partial to Texas. For all the reasons you listed. Bill

FMCA announces partnership with Forest River's motorized division
wildebill308 replied to raypesek's topic in FMCA
Please explain to me why all Forest River owners weren't welcome before? Why now are they only welcoming members with motorised RVs? I see as usual D Ball and crew are sitting on their thumbs and not engaged. Bill -
Good looking coach!! Welcome to the forum. Bill

I wonder how the OP is doing with his problem? Bill

While that may sound good it may not be the best additive package for your diesel. Saying you have "boosted zinc" is meaningless without specifics or context. The price is like buying retail from Camping World. $37.00 a gallon (the discount price) for an oil that is not SAE certified. MOLYBDENUM, POTASSIUM, BORON, SILICON, CALCIUM, MAGNESIUM, PHOSPHORUS, ZINC are all important additives in the additive package for your oil. All are expressed in PPM. Without doing a full oil sample/ analysis you can't tell what is going on or what you have. I have been doing samples for years (yes at one time I worked in a oil lab) and that is why now I run Shell rotella T-6. I am geting better reports. I like the 5-40 becue it flows faster to critical parts like that expensive turbo. That and it is $18.88 gal. Bill

Radiator and Charge Air Cooler Cleaning
wildebill308 replied to markletheridge's topic in Type A motorhomes
The problem is most dishwashing detergents are fairly alkaline, probably at pH 11 or 12 or so and that will cause corrosion on aluminium. The key is to do a realey good rince. Bill -
Glad to see you on the forum. It has been a while. Bill

Radiator and Charge Air Cooler Cleaning

But I saw someone use it on the internet. Bill -
I went to NM just in case. Bill

Not odd it just means they are authorized by Spartan not that they work for Spartan. One shop can be authorized by several manufactuers at the same time. Bill

Radiator and Charge Air Cooler Cleaning

My last coach had acess through the closet floor but you still could not get good acess because of the fan shroud. The battery compartment was where the air filter was If you took the filter out you could get some acess from the side. Bill -
Carl, I heard you were having a problem with your weight since you got married. Don't you have a bay in that fancy coach just for oil? Actually that was a picture from when/before I picked up my coach. They were going to do the annuel and I requested the T-6. Well they gave me a price of about $36.00 a gal. I said I would supply the oil because I had some leftover Walmart $18.88 gal oil. They did the gennerater to. Bill

So why are you hung up on little coaches with short wheel bases? I have had a 38 ft diesel pusher that drove/rode great. I now have a 45 ft coach that drives and rides great. Bill

The pictures of the bolt/bottom of the slide look like water damage. I would be looking for where it came in and i would think about drilling some 3/16 holes to let any water that got in to drain out. Bill

Your first sentence tells me you are not getting power from your batteries to the battery control center. Start with your meeter and work from the battery's till you find where the power is interrupted. I had a bad connection/cable end. I found the bottom cable on a stack of 3 on the battery was broken and not making contact it was still held by the plastic and didn't seem to move so it wasn't till I took the outher 2 off I found it. You would be surprised how many things require 12 volt power to operate/work. When the engine is running you have power from the alternator. Let me know what you find. Bill
