Advice On Towing A Trailer With 43' Allegro Bus
kaypsmith replied to Showinoff's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
The bike can be loaded sideways if total length is 102" (8.5')or less. Be careful of the maximum length of the rig plus trailer. In most states 65', is maximum total length, some are less, and some are more. Remember the length's are stem to stern, ie., measured from front bumper to rear of the trailer, so if you pull a 19' car hauler, and it has 3' tongue, that will be 22" plus the motorhome is 43', total. Here is another helpful site, http://www.rvsafely.com/rvroadlaws.htm. Whether v-nose or flat should be one's personal choice. Welcome to the forum, and happy trails, Kay -

Sometimes, I cheat a little in a tight, I always carry a heavy duty, (#12) 50 foot extension cord, plug it into the 20 amp outlet on the pedestal and run through a window with a little insulation to seal up the leaking window, to the second heater.

Motor Coach Age Restrictions in Florida
kaypsmith replied to captenaj's topic in Laws and Legislative Action
Home owners associations often have a very warped mindset on many items, such as some won't allow flying the American Flag. Since you stated HOA, I would assume that is a stick and brick association. Our mayor owns a 1991 Beaver Contessa, has been garage kept and looks like it is not over two years old. The HOA where he lives will not allow an RV of any sort to sit in yard, so they built the garage addition onto their house. Also you could opt to store at a storage facility. -
2013 Roadtrek Adventurous - Shower Not Working On 12 Volt
kaypsmith replied to dianejohnson63's topic in Electrical
Today I was at an RV show in B'ham, I had the salesman show me where the battery disconnect is located. The unit I looked is a 2015 model, but salesman said they had been the same for several years. The switch is a battery disconnect located just above the side entrance door on a master panel. If the battery disconnect is off, the interior lights will not function. If you have not found it yet, hope this helps. -

After looking up your unit, which is a class B, the switch is probably located within the drivers reach, used for turning off interior lighting while driving. Hope you find the problem soon. -
2013 Roadtrek Adventurous - Shower Not Working On 12 Volt

The "salesman switch" that Huffypuff is referring to is usually located at the entrance, usually in a semi hidden place, such as a small door. It was put there so that the dealer can turn on all lights within for show on the showroom floor, and turn all off with just one switch, handy for the dealers at the end of the day. -
Welcome to the forum, congrats on the "new dp", happy motoring and being an RV tech yourself, will be interesting to watch your upgrade.

Welcome to FMCA forum and congrats on White Tiger. Happy trails!!

Only assumption by me, but I assumed that there is a bike rack at the rear of the motorhome, and with the Karguard in place, the bike tires are too close to the Karguard and could cause damage. There again, only assumption on my part.

For weather alerts, I use my smart phone set to same. You might check with your cellphone provider to see if your service will adapt anywhere you roam.

Looking for Wireless Router
kaypsmith replied to royclem's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
I use Verizon MIFI at home and on the road. I have not found many places where it doesn't work well. Ran a speed test last weekend, was pulling 17 meg down, and 17 meg up, I have 10 meg fiber at the office, and it doesn't download or upload as fast as MYFY, of course it is unlimited data, as opposed to 6 gig on myfy. -
What part of Florida, and how many miles per day do you like to travel?

That is correct Lenp, any appliances that was in the side carrying 240 volts would smoke, any appliances on the circuit that was not hot will be OK. My earlier comments only apply to the wiring in the walls. The appliances that were in the situation with 240 volts will be toast because their amp draw is less than the circuit breaker, they became fuses.
-
The circuit breakers inside your coach should have done their job, and if they did the wiring should be fine. Also if any appliances were turned on at the time this scenario was a fact, the 50 amp in the breaker box where the black and white were wired incorrectly should have blown. An experienced electrician can conduct a simple test using a gfci breaker at each circuit at the breaker box, checking for leakage in all wiring inside the coach. If this test proves successful, I would not be concerned any longer. If there were any 120 volt light bulbs, and normally are not any inside a coach, but they will normally blow instead of a breaker because of low amperage. But I would certainly call on a qualified electrician for evaluation, and the insurance adjuster, if not qualified, will have one do the eval.

The Mayor of our city has a 1990 Beaver Contessa, has been garage kept since day one except when on trips. It looks, rides, and drives like new. Gillig chassis as Brett said still makes busses, and that chassis is like the Rock of Gilbralter, Cat 3208 was a very good engine. If you have any doubts about the engines livelihood, ask for an oil sample to take to Cat dealer, dealer will supply a canister for this purpose. The dealer can almost tell how many hours the engine has been run, and how many more it will last, and in a motorhome, probably the rest of our lives. Good luck and happy trails.

I should have added in the first post, if I can afford the diesel for the trip, then paper plates and solo cups are cheap, If dw does have to wash dishes after steaks are cooked, she deserves the next two meals out. Happy trails, Kay

We have a dishwasher at home, and not in the motorhome. My wife washes the dishes at home thoroughly then puts them into the dishwasher, and I stand there looking dumbfounded???? In the motorhome, she washes them thoroughly, then puts them into the cabinet, and I smile!!!!

Either 30 amp service wired for 240, or 120 volt wired to neutral leg of a 50 amp could "boil over". If it is truly 50 amp, electrician needs to pay for repairs.

Harbor Freight, and tractor supply has a very inexpensive tow bar that can be used if this is an older pu., with the old steel bumper.
