  1. I hope Tireman9 reads your post, if he doesn't respond try a pm (private message) to him. He is well versed as that is what he did for years, and currently does forums at some of the rallies. You can look at the date codes on any size tire to determine the age of the tire, If the sidewalls are cracking, that's not a good sign. Tires with too much age is not a good thing regardless of how much tread is left. Most of us have to replace our tires long before they are actually worn out because most rv'ers don't put that many miles on our rigs. Also you can take into account that the larger rv's require larger tires than a smaller class c, hence a much larger outlay on the initial cost of tires. Taking this into account is why the savings on a set of smaller tires will be much less than a rig with 22.5 tires versus 16, also some of the larger rigs have eight tires instead of six. Welcome to FMCA and hope you will have many happy tales, and trails, Kay
  2. Have not been to Sleepy Hollar yet, but rv reviews don't look well for this site. It's about 7 miles east of Jasper proper, I still plan to look at it as soon as icy conditions cease in the area. But about 17 miles north of Jasper is Clear Creek, it is an USFS park located on Smith lake, one of Alabama's prettiest lakes. Have been there and will go again.
  3. I agree with DD69, should be worth it in the long run.
  4. I live 40 minutes from there, and will venture there in the next few days and give a drive through review. Within 30 minutes of the same place there are two Army Corp parks, on the Warrior River, Deer Lick, and Burchfield Branch. They are a little secluded, as they are on the water, both are great places, if you are just looking in the area. Kay
  5. Many law enforcement officers will actually turn their head the other way and letting it pass because of gray areas. Triple towing is one of those areas, but the state D.O.T. officers are well versed on the laws, they are the dreaded ones that will get you. They have the same authority as a state trooper, and usually love to prove you wrong. I do contract work for state and county government in Alabama, and know a lot of the guys out there, and knowing them doesn't help in case of an infraction. Good luck motoring, Kay.
  6. Parallel on the dc input side, PLEASE don't try to parallel the ac output. PSW is wonderful but still pricey, as Rich points out the second PSW for necessary items is a good idea.
  7. The bike can be loaded sideways if total length is 102" (8.5')or less. Be careful of the maximum length of the rig plus trailer. In most states 65', is maximum total length, some are less, and some are more. Remember the length's are stem to stern, ie., measured from front bumper to rear of the trailer, so if you pull a 19' car hauler, and it has 3' tongue, that will be 22" plus the motorhome is 43', total. Here is another helpful site, http://www.rvsafely.com/rvroadlaws.htm. Whether v-nose or flat should be one's personal choice. Welcome to the forum, and happy trails, Kay
  8. I run a Samsung fridge on msw and have for three years, works great on that brand.

  11. Sometimes, I cheat a little in a tight, I always carry a heavy duty, (#12) 50 foot extension cord, plug it into the 20 amp outlet on the pedestal and run through a window with a little insulation to seal up the leaking window, to the second heater.
  12. check e-bay, just search rv furniture, several listed there.
  13. Home owners associations often have a very warped mindset on many items, such as some won't allow flying the American Flag. Since you stated HOA, I would assume that is a stick and brick association. Our mayor owns a 1991 Beaver Contessa, has been garage kept and looks like it is not over two years old. The HOA where he lives will not allow an RV of any sort to sit in yard, so they built the garage addition onto their house. Also you could opt to store at a storage facility.
  14. Today I was at an RV show in B'ham, I had the salesman show me where the battery disconnect is located. The unit I looked is a 2015 model, but salesman said they had been the same for several years. The switch is a battery disconnect located just above the side entrance door on a master panel. If the battery disconnect is off, the interior lights will not function. If you have not found it yet, hope this helps.
  15. After looking up your unit, which is a class B, the switch is probably located within the drivers reach, used for turning off interior lighting while driving. Hope you find the problem soon.
  16. The "salesman switch" that Huffypuff is referring to is usually located at the entrance, usually in a semi hidden place, such as a small door. It was put there so that the dealer can turn on all lights within for show on the showroom floor, and turn all off with just one switch, handy for the dealers at the end of the day.
  17. Welcome to the forum, congrats on the "new dp", happy motoring and being an RV tech yourself, will be interesting to watch your upgrade.
  18. Welcome to FMCA forum and congrats on White Tiger. Happy trails!!
  19. Only assumption by me, but I assumed that there is a bike rack at the rear of the motorhome, and with the Karguard in place, the bike tires are too close to the Karguard and could cause damage. There again, only assumption on my part.
  20. For weather alerts, I use my smart phone set to same. You might check with your cellphone provider to see if your service will adapt anywhere you roam.
  21. KarGard, is a healthy investment. Maybe better to relocate the bike, on the ladder, on back of toad, or on roof of toad?
  22. http://www.thetford.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=0Wqpe8KuqUM%3D The above link is pdf manual for Norcold 983.
  23. I use Verizon MIFI at home and on the road. I have not found many places where it doesn't work well. Ran a speed test last weekend, was pulling 17 meg down, and 17 meg up, I have 10 meg fiber at the office, and it doesn't download or upload as fast as MYFY, of course it is unlimited data, as opposed to 6 gig on myfy.
  24. What part of Florida, and how many miles per day do you like to travel?
  25. That is correct Lenp, any appliances that was in the side carrying 240 volts would smoke, any appliances on the circuit that was not hot will be OK. My earlier comments only apply to the wiring in the walls. The appliances that were in the situation with 240 volts will be toast because their amp draw is less than the circuit breaker, they became fuses.
