What's on the Odometer is what I declare. Unless I am mistaken, the odometer statement requires you to certify that the odometer has not been disconnected or tampered with. I don't think towing falls under either category. I do not hide the fact that it has been towed, I consider the presence of a base plate to be plus, at least on Jeeps, which is all that I tow! The dealers where I have traded surely don't care, and I have traded 4 different Jeeps for later/different models.

Believe it. A replacement tip for my 2008 Phaeton was over $300 from Freightliner. They replaced it under warranty because the original diffuser rusted so badly. Had to pay an hour's labor to get it installed.

Since it is keyless, it probably doesn't have a steering wheel lock! If you had to use a key to unlock the steering, it wouldn't be "Keyless".

The "Kids" are in their 40's, the oldest may be early 50's. Bob is early 70's, and I doubt that he started multiplying at 10 - 12 Yrs old! Things are already changing some. Rumor has it that the Tiffin family is starting a separate company to manufacture 5th wheel coaches that Tim Tiffin is going to run.

2015 42 ft coach, 450 Cummins, Allison 3000, 44KGVW towing Jeep Wrangler at 4K. We have gotten 7.3 MPG over its first 4,000 miles running 65-70 on Interstate and 60 - 65 on non Interstates. Should get better with age.

A modified sine wave will fry the electronics on some appliances. We destroyed two Mr. Coffee machines with the one on our previous coach before we figured it out! Mr. Coffee with clock and automatic start capacity didn't like it, bare bones Mr. coffee worked fine. A number of residential refrigerators don't like modified sine either.

Brannon Hutcheson at Custom RV in Vina (Suburb of Red Bay) Alabama has replaced some of these cooktops with something better. This problem, along with the fact that the Summit Cooktops require a 50 AMP connection are some of the reasons why we elected not to get the "All Electric" version of the Phaeton.

I doubt that there is a manufacturer in the industry who can produce a trouble free coach, some seem to have more issues than others. What sets manufacturers apart is how they handle their issues after delivery. Some, like Winnebago, have a reputation of abandoning the buyer once the sale is done. Others, like Newmar and Tiffin, seem to step up and acknowledge their issues and try their best to fix them. My previous coach was a 2008 Tiffin Phaeton which had every problem that could occur on Tiffins during their "problem period", including small issues like shade string breaking, problems with the electric jacks, and the "Big Three", Roof rails cracking, DS slide floor rotting, and wet bay floor rotting. Tiffin stepped up and repaired all issues, as late as 5 years after the sale. That's why we are now driving a 2015 Phaeton, which is relatively trouble free and are very please with it.

This is our second coach with a dishwasher. We use ours once or twice a day!

Jeep Wranglers are never a problem to tow. Not too sporty on fuel economy however!

If your existing Norcold 1210 had an icemaker then there may be an inverter circuit already there. The ice maker on the 1210 that came in our previous 08 Tiffin Phaeton was on the inverter because it needed 115V to work. There were 2 plugs in the circuit box behind the refer, one on the inverter and one not. The reason is that the 1210 needs a lot of power when on electric and will run your batteries down quickly when on inverter. The icemaker requires very little power. The inverter circuit allows the icemaker to work when you are dry camping. You are cooling with propane when dry camping which uses just a little 12V to ignite the burner.

I would much rather buy a new car than deal with a tow dolly!

There should be two long screws in each side of the frame which are accessed through the cabinets on each side of the TV. They are counter sunk a bit so you might have to look for them. Back these screws out and the trim should come off easily.

The baseplate should be between $400 and $500, $394 from Amazon. The Blue OX labor estimate is 3 hours. A wiring harness for lights should be between $75 -$150, and the Brake Buddy breakaway wiring is $50 to $ 100 Allow an hour to install lighting and an hour to install brakeaway, and you have 5 hours of labor. So $500 + $150 + $100 is $750 for Parts and $500 for labor at $100 per hour for a total of $1250. I think that that is high, but not nearly the $2000 that you were quoted. Don't know about the Toad Charger since my vehicles (Jeeps) don't need it.

We have gone down into the park to camp and back out for the last 8 years in a 40 ft DP towing. I won't hesitate to do it in my 42 footer now, just haven't been there yet! Much better down there than up on the rim....

If it is automatic, probably not. If it is a stick shift, maybe, maybe not. you might check the Blue OX web site to see if there is a base plate for it. That would let you know if some versions were towable, at least the 4WD versions.

You probably fried the electric heating element, which will happen when there is no water in the heater and the power is on. I have no clue as to how you replace it. That's why RV techs were invented!

If your coach has an engine brake rather than an exhaust brake, then this is what happens. I usually turn on the engine brake going downhill and occasionally use the brakes to bring the speed down. when the speed picks up again, repeat the process. We just drove from Albuquerque to the SF Bay area, and had a lot of ups and downs. The worst part of it was the ups, because the outside temp was 105-115 degrees in AZ and CA and the coach wanted to heat up very quickly. Spent a lot of time watching the temp gauge and gearing down when necessary.

Suggest that you go to http://www.tiffinrvnetwork.com and ask your questions there. Don't know of a similar forum for Fleetwood, but you might get some info on the Fleetwood along with the Phaeton from the Tiffin network. The Tiffin network has no connection to Tiffin Motorhomes other than most of the members are Tiffin owners. As a long time Phaeton owner, I would definately go with the Tiffin. Good Luck.
