  1. Would you be referring to Grizzly CG in West Yellowstone, Montana? Yosemite is in California, last time I looked.
  2. I10 West to US 231 toward Dothan AL. US 231 to Montgomery, I65 from Montgomery to Birmingham and on to Cullman, AL. AL 157 from Cullman to Moulton, AL. AL 24 from Moulton to Red Bay. Follow signs to Allegro (Tiffin) Campgroud, assuming you are going to the Tiffin Service facility. There are other ways to get there, but this is the most straightforward unless you like driving through Atlanta.
  3. In the Birmingham area, the choices are fairly limited. The Hoover RV Park is OK, it's basically a large parking lot that is available for evernS like the SEC Baseball Tournament. It does have full hookups. Birmingham South Campground in Pelham is OK, It's an old KOA, folks there are nice. Oak Mountain State Park, also in Pelham is fairly good, nice wilderness setting in a suburban area. The main campground has full hookup sites, but only 30 amp service. There is an "equestrian" campground near the stables and demo farm at the main entrance to the park. It is full hookup and 50 amp service. Price is the same as the 30 amp sites in the main CG. I have never seen it crowded. If I were only going to be there for a few days, that's where I would go.
  4. I had Blue Ox Brackets and wiring installed on a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited about a year ago in Albuquerque. Parts and Labor was over $1,100. Had the same done to a 2012 Grand Cherokee in September of this year in Birmingham, for about $800. The Grand Cherokee was a more complicated install, it all depends on the installer and where you get the parts. On the Wrangler, the installer provided the parts, I ordered the parts for the GC online.
  5. Not at all. The tires are probably dry rotted.
  6. Actually, my Brokerage Account points to my Livingston, Texas address as our primary address. Maybe the broker doesn't understand Escapees addresses!
  7. Many rules for things like Loans, Drivers licenses, Titles, and domiciles, have changed in the last 6 - 12 months as the effects of the Real-id act come on stream. It is now more difficult to become a "Texan" through the Escapees organization than it was just a year ago. Still doable though. Such is the "Law of Unintended Consequences"!
  8. It's kinda immaterial what address the OP uses. If the bank loans money on the coach, then they will have a lien on it and keep the title in their hot little hands. The Title will show the LLC as the owner, not the OP. After all, why have a LLC in Montana if it doesn't own the coach. There go the tax savings. It seems to me that the only way around this is for the OP to make a "personal loan" using some other asset such as stocks or such as collateral. A bank might buy that. Or just pay cash for the coach! OBTW, State Farm claims that they will make loans to fulltimers, according to my agent in Livingston, TX.
  9. The instructions that came with my adapter had me put it just before the regulator on the coaches propane tank. ( the high pressure side) That placed it on the drivers side of my coach.
  10. I have 6 of the 300 amp hour Lifelines installed, I know what they cost. They are worth it.
  11. You do not need to disconnect the battery or leave the key on. The steering wheel does not lock. You prep the transfer case, hook the car up to the coach, remove the key and tow. The owner's manual on the 2011 and early 2012 Wrangler was incorrect about the battery.
  12. Generally a 21.7 CF Whirlpool will replace a Norcold 1210 with not many cabinet mods, at least that was the case in my coach!
  13. ++++1 We traveled sans TV for many years, before our kids grew up. Been there, done that, we are not "camping", we are living in many different places during our golden years.
  14. Be happy with 8 MPG, expect about 7 depending on how heavy your foot is!
  15. Go see this page for California's length restricted roads. http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/traffops/trucks/bus-mh/45-bus-map.htm
  16. How long is your motorhome? The PCH is restricted to coaches 40 feet or less. We drove the section from San Luis Obispo to Monterrey last February in our 40 ft Phaeton, towing our Jeep. The lower section was pretty hairy, several hairpin bends where I felt like I could reach out and touch the Jeep from the MH drivers seat. It is better if you do it during the week, so you won't have to deal with weekend tourists. We drove the sections north of San Francisco about 12 years ago in a 31 ft coach, towing a Cherokee. That wasn't too bad, except that some of the northern area is open range, and several times we came face to face with herds of cows, and a 300 ft drop to the sea on one side of the road and a cliff on the land side. Also one must dodge logging trucks along the area near the Redwoods. Enjoy, it is beautiful!
  17. I had a similar problem on my 08 Phaeton. Freightliner replaced the LBCU under warranty. Seems like they had a bad batch of LBCUs during that time frame.
  18. You were probably in the old Highway 90 tunnel, which is still there, I think. You want to be on I10 for the bigger tunnel.
  19. We have Sirius in both our Coach and our Toad. They have never deactivated. The Coach will sometimes sit for several months with power turned off to the radio. The car has sat for as long as 10 days in an airport parking deck. I would lay money on the problem being Jensen's! (Ours are not Jensens!)
  20. My brokerage account points to our Escapees address in Livingston, TX. I do have an Account Executive who likes having my business and he and his team made it happen. My Bank accounts and credit card accounts also point to Livingston!
  21. To answer your specific question, yes it works if: 1 - There is no GF protection on the 20 AMP circuit, and 2 - There is a circuit with a large enough breaker feeding the pedistal. I have seen more than one pedistal with a 30 amp and a 20 amp plug have only a 30 amp breaker feeding it. If you are able to operate this way, you still have to practice energy management, but you can run two A/C untis with this setup. FWTW we have been running this way since March, and yes, the CG is aware that that we are doing it.
  22. I towed a 2007 Grand Cherokee for 4 years. I couldn't really notice it being back there, other than the obvious "see it in the rear camera". Our current Wrangler is the same. Both are in the 4500 - 5000 lb category. With the Country Coach that you have, you won't notice the difference between the Jeep and the Malibu. You would notice a difference with a smaller lighter Coach with a gas engine. The Jeep will be more useful to you if you do any exploring when you travel!
  23. Most foreign 4x4's are not towable 4 down, Toyota, Nisson, Mercedes Benz, Land Rover, and BMW come to mind. These vehicles are mostly "All wheel drive", rather than 4 wheel drive. Some of them can be flat towed with driveline modification. Jeeps are easy to tow 4 down, but beware, there is at least one Jeep transfer case that is not towable. The only jeep that can, for sure, be towed 4 down is the Wrangler. Many GM and Ford 4x4's can be flat towed, but you should make sure that a specific vehicle can be towed before you drop any money on it. Get it in writing!
