Update; I located a company that has a bunch of these used on the west coast. They remove these and replace with one sunshade that is a day/night unit that covers the windshield and additional unit for the side windows if you want to remove your curtains. Here is the link; http://mcdsunshades.com/ I spoke to the owner Steve, nice guy! He has several complete units (shade and all) $50.00 plus shipping. I was going to just purchase the motor but the newer version isn’t compatible with mine so I opted to take the complete unit. On the outside they look identical, the motor gear box is slightly different internally. I told my DW not to break this one, of course she didn’t do it .

2006 Holiday Rambler Neptune "cage" under engine
jleamont replied to bobmid's topic in Type A motorhomes
Bob, that looks to be something to protect against rock kick up's that the previous owner had made and installed. Perhaps before a trip to Alaska to keep the engine protected from road debris. I checked the brochure for that year and there is no mention of it and its not illustrated in any of the photos when it shows the powertrain. If it were me i'd leave it off -
HUH? 14 miles, all country driving.

That's us! I drove through a few for people asking for local places, but never stayed at any. One that is close to us I have used their dump station several times to clean out the tanks after a long trip home. I haven't stayed there nor would I ever recommend someone stay there , yeah, its that bad! We have stayed at the Jellystone that is local to us when the kids were smaller, they have a fantastic water park for kids and lots of kid activities. The issue they are creeping up onto $200 per night in peak season. Kids are to old now and their pricing...so you wont see me there!

Carl, we have the FMCA Atlas, truckers atlas, The next Exit and numerous maps (I’m being nice) her Maps have Maps , I swear when they get wet (stored in the compartment in the stairwell) they reproduce . She’s a navigator, boat charting and all. I look over the trip as outlined above she puts an expert eye on it. Then I make a wrong turn when she’s not paying attention and I hear about it around the campfire for the next 10 years

I believe this is the obstruction Carl is referring to

I was thinking the exact same thing! DD, all ok now?

Herman, I thought you were going to say no need to plan DW knows everything . When we first started camping we used the Goodsam trip planner for big trips. Now I do the same as Ian. Google Maps to get into a specific area, campground website directions from there. Then for an added level of security I will often use google maps street view to look at bridges to make sure we are not too heavy for them and check heights for overpasses.

Few minutes ago I though someone was outside revving their engine, it was the wind roaring up the street .

Puff, our grounds for everything is under the cup holder in the passengers console along that wall. I had a ground issue and had to run one into it. Way to difficult to access

How’s the weather over there at home? You have to be in the same boat we’re in with the 70mph wind through tomorrow.

Carl, not that I am aware of. I know our chassis was discontinued in the 02 model year built in 01, was the end. I used it on ours and it was spot on.

Found this useful document to decode a Monaco vin should someone not know what chassis they have; ftp://safercar.gov/MfrMail/ORG5291.pdf

04 Trailing Arm Question - are these the replacements?
jleamont replied to williams01's topic in Type A motorhomes
Williams01, the passenger side looks cracked between the U-bolts. -
It was already broken, I just added to it. I carried it from its cubby in the back to the front and down the steps, once it began to clear the opening I tossed it! I wasn't going to step on my retractable step with all of that weight, between the washer and me back then was every bit of 500 lbs, Kwikee would have had a new record if it had survived! mandalay3, Herman is correct, they are heavy, I am guesstimating 180-225lbs. Once you know if fits make sure you have adequate help getting it into it's spot.

Rear compartment of a 2018 Winnebage Aspect 30J
jleamont replied to rj_winger's topic in Type C Motorhomes
To add to Herman's post above, I'd also have the rear of the coach weighed to make sure its not at max weight for the axle or overloaded already. Sounds crazy but I have seen a few class C's that were overweight before they had any belongings in them. If there is still availability back there then look at how its constructed, if need be you could lay plywood down to spread the load. -
I don't think that would help any, the controls are mounted above it and stick out just as far. I have to measure my door (curious now) but my Splendid went right through the opening at a relatively high rate of speed as it bounced off of my drive way just as it passed by . Those are heavier than they look!
