  1. We use to plan a campground stop, the problem...we couldn't get there until late due to some unforeseen or got there so early I lost valuable driving time that I had to make up for the next day. We gave that up, now we wing it, with technology today and resources winging it is much easier than I imagine it was 25 years ago. I leave with a coach fully stocked, full fresh tank of water. This gives us flexibility, I can stop at a campground or a Walmart or something similar. Dbenoit, just off of I-95 in Lumberton NC is this place http://www.sleepybearsrvpark.com/. We have stopped for a night on a few occasions, nice place to stop and plug in for the night. Also I-95 at North Carolina exit 106 is this place https://kenly95.com/ my absolute favorite place to stop. The lot is so huge parking is not an issue.
  2. We have these behind all tires (including steers) and the rock guard, that rock guard is so heavy (I have a scar to prove its weight ) if anything i'd bet it decreases MPG's on ours. The tire side of it has stone damage so its doing something. We have only ever towed Jeep Wranglers, none have ever showed any signs of stone damage in either coach. Last coach had what looked like a Hula skirt hanging off the rear bumper for a few years, I removed it and ran with nothing, still no stone damage, but the drive axle was 11.5' from the coach bumper.
  3. bgreen, can you attach a photo of your coach and Toad connected, better visual. Also a photo standing back showing the rear axle on the coach. Some are close to the toad while others are not.
  4. Herman, , but NO Kay yeah, while at a campground she can shower as long as she wants. I just either open the gray tank until shes done or keep an eye on it's level, kids shower after so I let that go into a closed tank. Usually we can all shower and do the day to day stuff and I only have to pull the valve once. I also just replaced both valves, what a difference, should have done that 4 years ago! On the road everyone has to consume, same without full hookups.
  5. UPDATE; DW is happy, so happy she wont admit it, well she told the kids.."don't tell your father, he was right, this is fantastic" . In 20 years of marriage, that has to be one of the only times I have heard that Now if she could figure out what she wants for dinners, we'd be all set So far we have had 37 showers with the heater and no cooler temperatures experienced as with the Aquahot. Propane tank is still full (20 gallon BBQ style). The only concern is my wife now takes longer showers when on full hookup Carl, remind me to show you this next week.

    Slow Air Leak

Five, we have a policy at work, Operating pressure is 110 on 98% of the fleet, for this application (similar application to you) if a tire is discovered below 75 psi it must be pulled and sent out for x-ray. Before Michelin came out and trained everyone we would often have staff attempt to add air to a tire and it would almost always explode immediately or shortly after within in a few miles. Id have that taken to a professional truck tire center, have them inspect it at a minimum. You don't want it cutting loose on the road, I don't know what you typically run in PSI, but 60 is quite low for a commercial tire like your coach utilizes, id be surprised if it didn't damage the tire.
  7. Brett, agreed! Roger, I have been waiting for your response on this post, thank you commenting!
  8. LOL, it shows it with and without the O. Which made me feel better, i did good in English class
  9. So is an O'possum an Irish lad. This was the first time I had ever heard of a Possum with a O in front of it. Good thing for Google...
  10. We always top off the fresh tank on a long road trip. How about showers? Or do you have daily Campgrounds predetermined?
  11. UGH . I think I have a shock or two up front in need of replacing, DW said next year and front air bags . I figured the Tea oil would smell better, watch you might have bees chasing you now . Garlic will keep Sue inside also while you are out side working, that's great unless she is handing you tools

    Air Filter

He did, but its a Freightliner/Daimler exclusive, no one aftermarket has a cross reference for it
  13. I was going to give this a try; Tick Repellent. A tick repellent can be made for both animals and humans using tea tree oil as an active ingredient. Start with a 2:1 mixture of your favorite base oil, such as almond or jojoaba, and water. Combine this into a spray bottle with 2 oz. of tea tree oil.
  14. Carl, new federal law that has only been in place for a few months but approved in 2016 ish. Went live I think in April 2018, was suppose ot be January, but it was delayed. Drivers no longer have their own time, they have to follow the computer in the cab, its causing a bunch of accidents on highways also. Drivers are trying to make up time as a result, mostly due to poor planning or unforeseen traffic that held them up, they also have to stop now when the govt mandated program tell's them to, not when they are fatigued. So what you get is driver that had to stop while awake, couldn't sleep, then ran out of break time and has to pound the pavement again now very tired! dangerous situation! I guess once you get a custom to it they will be ok, but that's not the case at the present time with many.

    Air Filter

Bill, when you open them up there is a valve in the bottom of the canister that opens, all of the oil will flow downward into the crankcase. With this design I loosen the oil filter, allow it to pop up (spring loaded stand pipe up the center of the filter), go underneath and drain the oil pan, once that's done, put the plug back in, wipe it off, go back up top and replace the oil filter, fill the engine. Usually that's enough time for the filter to be clear of almost all excess oil (another reason to change the oil with the engine hot or warm). The fuel filters on the other hand...those are messy!

    Air Filter

    More photos of that beast

    Air Filter

Five, look like this? Oil is the one labeled Detroit Diesel Primary fuel is the little one (basically a screen) Secondary is the other cartridge.
  18. Use caution at trucks stops now. New federal law requires them to take breaks at specific time's by electronic log reporting. They MUST stop then no if ans or buts about it! Space around the US is very limited, especially the east coast. They no longer have the luxury of driving down the road for the next available parking. Trucks stops from what I have heard are busting at the seams, I certainly wouldn't want to take up their space or get tangled up in a sea of trucks, not with today's driver's!

    Air Filter

I’ll get some photos tomorrow at work of a DD13, we have two from wrecks on stands in the parts warehouse. I believe the primary and secondary are cartridges next to each other, all in line with the cartridge oil filter in front. Freightliner is notorious for adding a Davco in front of all fuel filters.
  20. I have a friend (ex boss) that was a flight instructor, I’ll call him tomorrow, bought time we catch up anyway.
  21. Brett, hadn’t thought about coach drag increasing. Interesting, I’ll have to read up on that. Thanks!
  22. Something just dawned on me... Aquahot has only been on diesel for one cycle a month since it’s not used for hot water. That must consume more than I realized.
  23. Bill, just topped off the tank for the western road trip on our way home today. Check this out; 34.81 gallons burned in 381 miles . I contribute most of these gains to the cold temperatures we have been experiencing. Colder air charge into the intake, better combustion. I have been really diligent with the a accelerator and watching my gauges.
  24. That’s so different I like it! Nice concept!!
