  1. The water heater is mounted from the outside. If you can't get to the element from the inside you will have to remove the unit. You might want to test the various components to determine if it is the element.
  2. When I changed to TranSynd I asked one of the engineers at the Allison booth at the FMCA convention how he would do it. He said to fill the trans 3 quarts over full and disconnect the cooler line and start the engine until 3 quarts comes out and shut off the engine and reconnect cooler lines then run and adjust the level. This would replace the the fluid in the converter. This was several years ago. The filters are also changed.
  3. At one time Remco had a axle disconnect for front wheel drive cars. It involved cutting the axle and installing the devise. It had a collar that rotated to lock and unlock. I don't know if they still make it or not, check with them.
  4. I remember the old system, I believe it was Thermo San, we disabled a number of them because they did not work. I remember having to change out exhaust pipes because of rusting out with all the moisture present. I would think you would need to install stainless exhaust pipes. I will have to see what this system is and see someone use it for at least a year or two before passing judgement. This is one time you don't want to be an early adopter.
  5. It is not an easy drive to get to the tunnel from the west. Steep and sharp turns. I have done it but would not recommend it. The tunnel is the only road that is closed to oncomming so the motorhome can go through in the center of the road because of the overhead clearance. You must make arrangements ahead of time and there is a fee involved.
  6. I have used 303 on my decals for 10 years to preserve them as long as possible. Product works very good. However my coach is a 93 and now the decals have reached the end of their useful life. Going to have the coach painted to correct the problem.
  7. I've had good luck with Roadmaster sway bar and steering stabilizer on a Tuthill IFS.
  8. In situations like this we use a heat gun, which is a industrial version of a hair dryer, and heat the hose until pliable enough. Also spray with WD 40 helps. Be sure the hose is the right size. The id has to be the od of the flat part of the tubing so that the barb is slightly larger. Sometimes the tank and the fill tube are of different diameters, requiring a tapered hose.
  9. Try a wrecking yard, they have access to yards across the country.
  10. I just turned my computer off and rebooted and I am still logged in. Even at home my desktop stays logged in. The only way to have to log in again is if I log out. I'm using windows 7.
  11. As long as I don't log out it stays logged in for days or weeks.
  12. If the front end looks like a dodge van it's probably a dodge van cut off.
  13. We are located in Lk Havasu City, Az. We have been in our current location since 1981. I don't know anybody in the Sacramento area.
  14. I would not shim it with washers if the floor is not steel. I have seen this done on plywood floors and the washers just sink into the wood. Make a solid wedge shim that covers the entire base out of wood. We have also done this several times over the years.
  15. What size tire do you have? I have always carried a spare in the last 35 years and 10 motorhomes ago. You have to build support brackets hold the tire and wheel with some cross members with 4 lug bolts so that I secure it solid. The problem of lifting it into position was solved by installing a 1500 lb 12 volt winch above the assembly and I have a push button control up and down. Sorry for the typo. I tried to correct it and the more I tried the worse it got. When I tried to insert new letters it would elliminate the next letter. If you are at Indianapolis I would be glad to show the latest version.
  16. Using a 30 amp Bosch type cube relay is the most efficient way to isolate the charge line. Use a toggle switch to activate the relay or trigger wire from mh ignition switch.
  17. If it is not possible to move the base over to center it, the post can be cut and rewelded in the correct alignment and the base remounted in it's original position. We have done this several times in our business over the last 30 or so years. Early Pace Arrows were famous for this.
  18. On most applications, the brake lights come on when the exhaust brake is energized. The reasoning is that it is the same as if you applied the brakes. I have worked with the manufacturer of wiring harnesses that supply Spartan and Freightliner. Most likely the trailer brake control needs to be activated only when the brake pedal is pushed. May require a separate switch.
  19. That sounds a bit steep. The tank must be buried and a lot of coach dismantled. Is the leak in a place you can see? We have done plastic welding on lots of tanks. The trick is to figure out what stress caused to crack or what ever because if that is not corrected the weld may fail also.
  20. I have been using Centramatic balancers for about 10 years with good results. I have 22.5 Alcoa wheels in all positions. Before that I would spin balance each wheel on my computer balancer but that of course does nothing about the unbalance of the drums. I do use the spin balance machine to check the truness of the wheel and tire.
  21. If you want to run HDMI to the back you can go through the cabinets or down the windshield pillar and under the floor to the rear then up through a cabinet. I have a complete separate system in the bedrood so I didn't have to run HDMI to the rear. This allows me to have totally different programing in the rear. I live in Lk Havasu City do you?
  22. We do like motorhomers etc. here in Lake Havasu City. Not much we can do about city ordinances. We had an RV repair business for 30 years here. Had you looked in the FMCA directory you would have notice my name as a mechanics helper. If you would have called me I would have invited you to my driveway which has full hookups.
  23. Might check the pump mounting. The screws can't be to tight on the rubber feet. You need a complete loop of soft hose on each side of the pump.
  24. Rest stops with dump stations have fresh water available and those without usually have fresh water available although your hose may need an adaptor to hook up. Fuel stops such as Pilot, Flying J, Loves have water also.
