  1. I installed a 1998 ISB 275 with an Allison 3060 in my 93 32 ft. I tow a 1500 Silverado and coast to coast I average between 10 and 11 mpg. I drive at 58-62 mph, mine shifts into 6th gear at 54 mph.
  2. We use Thousand Trails about 100 plus nights a year. Most parks are almost full and on average will maintained.
  3. We have MASA which if we have a medical emergency it will fly us to the nearest hospital. It also covers any minor children traveling with us. They will return your coach and toad. There is no limit on the cost and no deductible. This coverage is world wide.
  4. I remember going to a FMCA convention back in the 70's and there were about 50 FMC Dodge 440-3 gas pushers.
  5. The Surge Guard is an excellent choice. Customer service is tops. I have the 50 amp unit with the remote lcd readout. I don't notice any noise from the unit as mine is located in the bay with the power cords. Be sure to used oxgard or simular coating on the terminals because the term in the unit is aluminum and the wire is copper and will corrode in time without.
  6. I believe that there is a pump that is being made that has a pressure bypass within itself so that the pump always runs when water is needed. This would eliminate the need for an external tank, saving space, etc. I have been using a variable speed pump that when the volume of usage is low the pump runs slow.
  7. My Spartan chassis came with air over hydraulic disc brakes. They worked fine until I went with 22.5 wheels and then I had trouble stopping. I changed to full air brakes and no more problems.
  8. Probably any manual shift vehicle would be the best. Automatics seem to have too many problems even though some are having good luck. I tow a Silverado 1/2 ton which has a v6 and 5 speed manual transmission. I have about 100,000 miles towed.
  9. Full timing is a personal thing. Only you can decide what requirements you need. As far a different brands go chances are that some units within the same manufacturer will have more problems than others. What problems did you have with your Thor?
  10. I have been using the Verizon jet pack for a few months. Verizon use to have unlimited data usage but that was years ago and if you had it then you are grandfathered in now. Mine is 5 gig for $50 month. It works good enough that I discontinued my hard wire dsl connection at home and constantly use the jet pack on the road, which is about 8 months a year.
  11. I have found that those people that buy and install these type of devices tend to drive with a lighter foot and will realize some increase in mpg but that increase is not from the device. I have tested a number of different devises and have not seem any increases under the same driving conditions. I have never spent a dime on these devices but have tested for various mfg and individuals.
  12. I have installed a 235 amp engine alternator and it handles it just fine with only 1/4 mpg decrease on my Road Relay 5. I don't do this on a regular basis as I rarely travel in cold areas.
  13. I am using the same Directv hd receivers in my motorhome as in my house. I have a slimline 5 lnb dish in both locations. My motorhome has a MotoSat automatic.
  14. I go on Nv 95 from Las Vegas to Fallon then to Ca and north to Bend. I've done that a number of times.
  15. If you are on propane it may be a breeze blowing the flame out.
  16. In our shop some years ago when we were an Onan dealer we rebuilt a 6.5 Onan that was in a tool truck. It had some 10,000 hours on it as it ran all day long to power the a/c. We replaced the pistons and valves and it ran like new. I would think that it would be almost impossible to wear one out in an r/v application.
  17. I have two heavy duty water hose hangers mounted to the wall of the compartment and I coil the wire one loop at a time. One holds 75 ft of 20 amp cable and 30 ft of 30 amp cable and the other holds 27 ft 50 amp and a 25 ft 50 amp extension cable.
  18. When I needed additional heat in the front I use a quartz 1500 watt heater running off the inverter.
  19. You will need an inverter which should be a pure sine wave type. They come in different watt ratings, 200-400 watt should work well. The inverter will be wired direct to the batteries.
  20. I believe Roadmaster still services their tow bars free of charge.
  21. I tow both a Prius on a dolly and a Silverado 1/2 ton. My mileage is about the same for either, 10-11 mpg with a 32 ft diesel pusher.
  22. One style is that the 3 units are molded into one piece so you have to have the correct one. The other has tubing between them so you can vary the distance.
  23. For the most part they are 6 volt golf cart batteries and the only thing you have to be concerned with is the spacing between cells. Some watering kits have tubing between the cells so they can accommodate different dimensions.
  24. You won't need the toad in the grand canyon because only shuttles were allowed the last time I was there.
  25. We have MASA and have never heard anything bad about them. They pick up 100% of the cost from almost anywhere in the world.
