  1. Hello FloydFowler, Ray Fowler here. We have the same engine. A rather common problem is the fuel lift pump develops an air leak at the gasket area. There are 3 bolt heads on top the pump, tighten them. Since this pump only runs for around 30 seconds to 1 minute, then the main fuel pump(injector pump) take over and sucks fuel all the way from the fuel tank, through the filters; if the lift pump is leaking air it cannot be seen. The link below explains how to install a fuel pressure gauge on the primary/fuel water separator fuel filter, it should read -5 negative fuel pressure unless the lift pump gasket is leaking. I discovered my lift pump was leaking when I spotted diesel fuel on the concrete garage floor. This leak drips onto the starter motor, which IMO can cause an engine fire rather easily. Two different diesel shops told me when either the injector pump or lift pump fails, the other is destined to also fail; so they usually replace both at the same time. I experienced this last summer. I had the lift pump replaced last spring afterwards discovered those 3 bolts were loose. In July the injector pump fuel distributor module failed 300 miles from home. It took Cummins Great Plains weeks to get a re-manufactured one installed due to the pandemic-induced shutdowns. They said when the lift pump sucked air it caused the injector pumps 12V fuel distribution module to fail; That bill was $5,000. Read this thread for more insight into this fuel issue. I hope this is somewhat helpful.
  2. Will the forums be working during this change?
  3. Seynel this website fully explains how and why the 12V battery system works: http://marxrv.com/12volt/12volt.htm
  4. Welcome to the FMCA discussion forums! In my opinion your first step is to have your starting battery tested to determine it's condition, and buy a new battery if it does not pass the test. Then after the battery is charged, disconnect the negative post until you have repaired the alternator. Yes, you may jump-start the genset from either a battery charger with a boost setting or from a different vehicle. Repairing/replacing the alternator would be next after replacing the bad batteries. The bad batteries likely caused the alternator to fail, specifically the voltage regulator module.
  5. Any such log books are for personal use only. If you trade-in the vehicle, a commercial reseller by law, cannot give your personal information to the buyer of your vehicle unless you have removed all references to you or where you had work performed. Went through that when I bought a truck from a good friend who owns a used truck sales business. If it's a private sale you are free to distribute your personal information any way you choose. All my records are on my computer, and will be deleted when the vehicle is sold or traded.
  6. http://powerhousecoach.com/construction.html This goes along with the rig..
  7. I also had forgotten about Alpine Coach. If you can find one, this fits your criteria, price is higher though.. 34', 425HP, 2 slides. There are 36' models available.
  8. Welcome to the club! Join in the fun at every opportunity.
  9. Keep in mind, truck tires are speed rated at 75 MPH, now factor in the temperatures reached in that area of the U.S. and you quickly realize your stated goal may become and end of life event. I agree, a Renegade will do the job.
  10. Thanks for that Bill, it sounds reasonable to me.Similar to us paying $50 for another year of membership, and others suggesting we give a free year of FMCA membership with the purchase of a new MH. Apparently we/FMCA are paying Chris to run/manage the organization, and he is hard at work.

    Tire PSI

+ Sunshine. It's a good thing Tireman9 and other design engineers built-in tire safety to account for that.

    Tire PSI

That is not a concern for the consumer, the tire mfgrs design engineers took care of that before the tire entered production. Where is Tireman9?

    Tire PSI

That Federal Tire Placard states the recommended air pressure for the GVWR of your MH. If you are not overloaded the 80 psi is correct; at least until you get actual weights.

    Tire PSI

That's what I mean, there were no load/inflation charts, they went by the Federal Tire Placard in/on the vehicle. Page 8 of: https://www.goodyearrvtires.com/pdfs/rv_inflation_guide_nov112014.pdfa and paragraph 2 of Tire Loading in this pdf: https://www.goodyearrvtires.com/tire-inflation-loading.aspx

    Tire PSI

I go by the Federal Tire Placard air pressure in my MH. It works well for me. I wonder what people did before tire pressure monitors were widely sold? Goodyear says reducing air pressure to obtain a better ride is futile.
  16. I would visit a local RV dealership and talk to the service manager.
  17. Yup, that was the email, I'm paid up until 4/11/22.
  18. No thanks, I'll stick with using my empty whole-house water filter, and adding bleach to the cannister. Whole lot cheaper.
  19. Amsoil has a new product: https://www.amsoil.com/p/dominator-20w-50-competition-diesel-oil-dco/?msclkid=190e0e4702d115f68b96510d74ba7a8b&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Product - Search -3D-Oil-Racing&utm_term=20 50 racing oil&utm_content=20w50
  20. That must have been the email, I got one some time back to renew for $50.
  21. FMCA offered that price back when it was first announced they are $700,000 out of pocket for the cancelled rallies. I renewed for 2021. If I get that email I'll renew for 2022 also; hopefully the board can climb out of this mess in time.
  22. If the latch is failing, there is a good chance the door is not sealing properly either. That means microwaves can be emitted outside the oven, which is dangerous for many reasons. I would have the microwave checked by a professional for leakage and have the latch replaced.
  23. Caster and camber may be re-set on a solid axle/kingpins. Caster requires the use of wedges, camber requires the axle be heated and re-bent.
  24. I would head West instead of East, where the storm is forecast to track.
