  1. https://www.nhtsa.gov/safercar-app Apparently this app covers all vehicles. I'll download it and make a test run with my MH VIN tomorrow.
  2. Me too. When I was young I could load a 400# tractor tire into my pickup bed, have it repaired, then put it back on the tractor. Today I only lift the cell phone.
  3. I think it odd a Freightliner dealer works on a competing chassis.
  4. That's right if you want a Spartan employee to do the work. Spartan Motors has a listing of authorized service centers.I found the listing is not completely accurate. Cummins Coach Care, they service the chassis, drive-train and coach, with a 7 yrs old limit I understand?. Oddly enough, Freightliner of Indianapolis is an authorized Spartan chassis service center.
  5. Every type has drawbacks. To me the most effective is one that will suppress fire long enough for us to escape. That is my only concern. Anything bought with money can be replaced with more money; lives cannot be replaced. GET OUT - STAY OUT! Since the majority of fires in MH's are in the engine compartment, usually due to a fuel leak and hot surfaces, that is where an automatic fire suppression system is most effective.I forget the brands, another member will remember,
  6. Before you get the cores wet, consider using compressed air to blow dirt out of the fins. Exercise care with the air nozzle to avoid bending the fins, which will make overheating worse. The fins must be straight and open to be effective, if necessary you may purchase a fin comb at Harbor Freight for around $10 to straighten them. Getting dirt and leaves wet without removing them can cause a hardened mud pack and make cooling more difficult. Then the washing with aluminum-safe cleaner will be more effective.
  7. I read where someone was talking about Brazos Trail RV park. It is now a PPA discount/ 1/2 price RV park too.
  8. Click on your name at top right of the page, select account settings, then under other settings select edit profile.
  9. Mine are very similar, a bolt and nut hold the wiper assy. to the arm. I bought 28" wipers from rockauto.com. Don't try to look them up by make of vehicle, look them up by wiper length. The new wiper assy's had an attachment held on by the bolt N nut, I removed the attachment and bolted the new wipers onto my pantograph arms.

    Beware

Why then are the faint sliding marks not parallel to the broad white line? They should be parallel if the same coach sliding action made both. Whoever began the thread about this on irv2.com posted a link to a facebook screenshot. It is not written with language common to law enforcement. It had a seal of the CHP, like it's hard to copy any seal or emblem..
  11. I hear you; the Spartan website identifies a Spartan shop in Indianapolis, when I looked up the address on Google maps, it's in a housing sub-division in the city.
  12. I do not understand. You said 6 hours ago it was not working. Three hours ago you said you fixed it 2 weeks ago ???????????? Please explain.
  13. Doggone Bill, you won't have that C12 broken in for another 60,000 miles, especially when running synthetic oil.

    Beware

Photoshop; look at the shadow of the coach, then the shadow of the frame.
  15. A new high-tech pipe and wiring finder (stud-finder was old nomenclature) should locate anything behind the wall covering. I do have to be very careful on walls that contain a pocket door, but with careful planning I have installed 1/8" hollow-wall anchors. After installation, I cut the bolt to the shortest usable length possible to clear the pocket door.
  16. I'm feeling really good about my side-radiator Spartan chassis right now. It's never overheated-anywhere, which means I don't need to spend money on synthetic oil for that reason. I just flush out the fins once a year with a water hose.

    Tire wear question

Reading this article will offer insight into having trailer axles and tires aligned. There is a DIY method of checking axle alignment, however it is not completely accurate, nor can it determine tire alignment specs. Lippert axles may have Correct Track adjustment bolts.
  18. The sliding doors I've seen are all suspended from the top, on rollers. Perhaps the plastic roller is bad.
  19. Check the fuel filter connections, once I had my generator serviced at Speedco and the connections were just tight enough to hold -until the vibration from running while on the road loosened them enough to leak. As to the fuel lines, my Spartan chassis is a 1999, MH was built in Apr 2000. I've never had a fuel line problem, with anything on the MH.
  20. IMO a check valve would work just as well, that's what I plan to do if/when my vacuum breaker fails.
  21. With the exception of removal from the MH, most household HVAC technicians are qualified to work on these RVP units. They just need to understand it has two 120VAC compressors instead of one 240VAC compressor. You will need to remove and replace the unit though. There is enough electric cable to run the unit outside the MH on a platform.
  22. Your description sounds like the light is inline with the ground wire, which is/should be controlled by the switch (switches ground on/off) on the antenna. Since switch is not working as designed, the light is receiving voltage constantly.
  23. Include the cost of a new LI battery charger if you desire the maximum life from the LI batteries.
  24. As Ken said, nominal voltage in the U.S.A. is 120VAC, plus or minus 10%. Outside those parameters inductive motors are slowly being damaged - permanently. It's called "bruising", an analogy would be: you are hit on your shoulder repeatedly, each time hurts worse, until you can't use your arm/it fails to operate.
  25. fly2low is right, most vehicle manufacturers recommend brake fluid be flushed and replaced in regular a maintenance schedule.
