Refer to the FMCA dingy towing guide prior to buying a towed. That's how I decided on my 2013 Chevy Silverado 4x4.

When buying/using a load tester, it should have the capacity to measure 1/2 the battery CCA. https://www.freeasestudyguides.com/battery-capacity-tests.html I first bought a digital load tester from HF, it died 6 months later. I then bought an analog load tester from HF, this one is 5 years old and operating as designed.

I just left Safeco for Progressive with better coverage for a lower premium. Safeco is an auto policy too; outside awnings are an add-on to the basic policy.

My experience. When we decided to upgrade our tow bar to 19,000# I went to the Blue Ox website and searched for their certified dealers/installers. They listed my local mechanic's business. The total bill was almost $1,500 less than CW quote. I dropped off our MH,, 2 days later he phoned and asked me to bring my 2013 Siliverado I intended to tow. Next day he called again to tell me come pick up my vehicles/rig. (BTW he and his DW are FMCA members, travel in a 45' Country Coach towing a Jeep GC)

Disapointed in my FMCA Roadside Assistance
rayin replied to poohbear7278's topic in Roadside Assistance
mcbus, there is a big difference between the right thing to do and what is obliged by a contract. Suppose you were the guarantor and got paid $79 to perform your contractual obligation, which was not properly adhered to; would you volunteer to pay $900($450) out of your bank account just because it's the right thing to do? Now remove all emotions and reach your own answer. -
FIVE, that's odd IMO. My MH insurance due date was 4/33/20, rates stayed the same (Safeco). I called a local independent agent who quoted me a Progressive policy with higher coverage at $100/yr less than Safeco. I made the switch today. When I called the Safeco agent, she said I should have called and told her to shop around for a different company. My response to that was; I told her IMO an independent agent should not require a customer to make the request, she should do that automatically if customer service was a priority. Side note, Safeco does not have a dedicated RV/MH policy, they issue an automobile policy and add-on enough coverage for a MH. I have my Safeco policy here in front of me. The header states: "Automobile policy declarations". then below identifies my MH.

Carl is correct, their website says "nothing found" for a Spartan chassis, neither his K3 or my MM GT chassis. I doubt they would eliminate sales with an incorrect website. I checked in to them in 2015, and was told if my Spartan chassis rocked it was past time to replace the shocks.

That really happened at a grocery store in Terre Haute Indiana last week. No suspects, the person was wearing a white mask and white coveralls, w/ blue gloves. Most banks have a sign requesting patrons remove hats when entering, guess that is no longer a concern.

Any progress on corner weights yet?

Yeast shortage?:? That's great, now how am I gonna make more beer? Sigh_ I've still got 1/2 G of E&J brandy, guess that'll have to suffice.

FMCA Tucson Convention CANCELLED due to COVID-19 virus
rayin replied to wolfe10's topic in FMCA Tucson, Arizona, 2020
Sadly these forced cancellations seem to have put FMCA into an almost intenable situation by the tone of the open letter published in the magazine. The Board of Directors face very difficult decisions. -
I plan to do as you, if/when DW is able to travel again.

Gary is in the high risk group, I hope he recovers.

That would require talent! and money_.

My old obsolete Xantrex RS2000 pure sine wave specs state 92%, 87% under full load. IF/when it dies, I'll buy another Xantrex unit.
-
Having once owned a Norton, that is all true. I spent more time working on it than riding.
-
My MH has 1 receptacle for the fridge and ice maker, My Xantrex RS2000 has a pass-through feature and knows where to source power. You cannot lump all MH wiring together. Now if I forget to switch on my inverter while driving_no ice for my bourbon that evening.

If you do little boondocking/dry camping, I would stay with the same battery brand. Have you calculated the cost per year of your present batteries yet? Compare that to AGM's. I did that and could not justify the price difference.

Yep, got an email from Safeco today. My premium refund should be around $19($780 annual). That should buy a couple of pizzas, but it's the thought that counts. Will sign with Progressive next week(better coverage) and save $100/yr. Makes my old MH cheaper to O/O. I shop around every year.
-
We owe no allegiance to any insurance company. a couple years ago I switched to Safeco for a lower rate and better coverage. Tomorrow I am switching to Progressive - $100 lower premium for higher coverage. Musing; it seems a shame to insure our MH that hasen't seen a road since December, and will not see one again until fall(unless this virus disappears NLT next month). NOTE: Safeco does not write MH policies, they write an auto policy and enhance coverage, so said my agent.

That last bit of information; the motorcycle rack + motorcycle weight, changes almost everyone's advice. That is an important factor to know. It also makes knowing 4-corner weights vital, hows that coming along?

Same raw material, different processing. I'll stick with the bleached product, thanks anyway. Someone did some good work making that video.
