  1. Having once owned a Norton, that is all true. I spent more time working on it than riding.
  2. My MH has 1 receptacle for the fridge and ice maker, My Xantrex RS2000 has a pass-through feature and knows where to source power. You cannot lump all MH wiring together. Now if I forget to switch on my inverter while driving_no ice for my bourbon that evening.
  3. If you do little boondocking/dry camping, I would stay with the same battery brand. Have you calculated the cost per year of your present batteries yet? Compare that to AGM's. I did that and could not justify the price difference.
  4. Yep, got an email from Safeco today. My premium refund should be around $19($780 annual). That should buy a couple of pizzas, but it's the thought that counts. Will sign with Progressive next week(better coverage) and save $100/yr. Makes my old MH cheaper to O/O. I shop around every year.
  5. We owe no allegiance to any insurance company. a couple years ago I switched to Safeco for a lower rate and better coverage. Tomorrow I am switching to Progressive - $100 lower premium for higher coverage. Musing; it seems a shame to insure our MH that hasen't seen a road since December, and will not see one again until fall(unless this virus disappears NLT next month). NOTE: Safeco does not write MH policies, they write an auto policy and enhance coverage, so said my agent.

    Unusual tire wear

That last bit of information; the motorcycle rack + motorcycle weight, changes almost everyone's advice. That is an important factor to know. It also makes knowing 4-corner weights vital, hows that coming along?
  7. Same raw material, different processing. I'll stick with the bleached product, thanks anyway. Someone did some good work making that video.

    Unusual tire wear

When alignment was checked, hopefully they did a total alignment check.(commonly known as dog-tracking). Usually if the rear axle is out of alignment(thrust angle) your steering wheel is not level when driving straight ahead,
  9. 18 years is the maximum when i was buying an ESC through Good Sam/Camping World. I read somewhere it has been shortened to 15 by some companies. The first 3 yr contract repaired everything that failed/broke, subsequent contract had only 2 claims filed. MH was 18 then so no more ESC allowed. An easy way to find out for sure is phone wholesalewarranties.com and ask, I think they have a 15 yrs limit too.
  10. Only you can say if an Extended Service Contract is worth the money for your circumstances. We bought an ESC when we bought our 2000 MH because it had been parked in a barn for 8 years prior to our purchase. IMO that first contract was well worth the expense, it more than paid for itself + deductibles, fuel for delivery trips, etc. The next 3 yr contract was a straight loss, no covered claims were made. This is like buying health insurance, it is not an investment, but rather, buying financial protection. IMO the best independent broker is wholesalewarranties.com Some companies sell directly to the public, but I can't remember names.
  11. That will do it Joe! Having some beer with that might increase the persuasion.
  12. In cold weather, absorption refrigerators do not work well, especially if the interior of the RV is unheated. The LP nor 120VAC heaters can generate enough heat fast enough to keep the fluid boiling. It often helps to tape a piece of cardboard over the lower vent louvers; BUT, closely monitor the refrigerator cooling unit for over-heating.
  13. That sounds like Newmar/Winnebago hit out out of the park with this FRED.
  14. If you are using W10, the link to the article is on the MSNBC/US news app.The CDC is receiving cell phone location data from a 3rd party who gets it from the carriers to track gatherings. A good thing IMO, however we all know once a programs is started if often never goes away.
  15. In this case a good thing IMO; however____.https://www.wsj.com/articles/government-tracking-how-people-move-around-in-coronavirus-pandemic-11585393202
  16. Download the sales brochure for your MH, it will identify pre-wiring: https://www.entegracoach.com/brochures/

IF you are stuck alongside the road you may temporarily get going again by bypassing the resistor. The result will be burned points and perhaps ruined condenser though.

I do not recall exactly, follow the 12V hot wire coming on the coil backwards to the ballast resistor. This video may explain better than me. The function of the ballast resistor is fully-explained here: https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-ballast-resistor To see what the resistor may look like, type in Dodge ballast resistor on a search engine the click on pictures in the header. They used several different designs.

Brett, I remember that ballast resistor but not much more. my 1976 Allegro on Dodge chassis had one. I got lucky, a wire broke at the terminal, repaired that alongside the highway. That was around 1984/5.
  22. I agree; with the negative cable(s) to the MH removed, fully-charged batteries should maintain charged for many months.
  23. Locating a HDT repair shop that will total align a MH is the first step. Anyone who performs alignment will also replace worn parts.
