  1. I'm probably the only guy on the forum who has spent considerable time in the Michelin Rubber Plantation in S. VN...lots and lots of trees there. We (the US government) paid the Vietnamese for every tree we destroyed. However, I got medivaced in a Huey in Oct 1967.
  2. Before changing anything to do with transmission fluid, get it tested. The chemist that helped developed transynd, says as long as it tests good, it is good for life.
  3. The owner's manual should give very specific and detailed instructions on how to set up your car to tow.
  4. My local Freightliner dealer tried to charge me 10% of the total bill for "shop supplies." She said it's the new owner's policy. She finally said she could reduce it a little, and did. The new owner is Doggett....owns nine Freightliner dealers in AR and TX. I don't much like mine....no appointments, no apparent method for sequencing drive ins, expensive, could not find the plug in the rear of the engine compartment to insert his computer (a $35 charge), not to well versed in trouble shooting (I ended up diagnosing one issue by standing in the shop and watching), if you drop the coach and wait, count on it being an all day experience. https://www.doggettfreightliner.com/
  5. Check the sidewall. My Continentals say "Made in USA," Toyos say, "Made in Japan."
  6. Freightliner dealers are unpredictable....some will work on your RV, some will not, apparently it's up to the dealer as to who they can service. I've had one who would not say he would not work on a MH, but said we would be 15th in line, and it would probably be a couple of days. Translation, "go away."
  7. I'm with you, no Chinese tires for me....one bad experience is enough. However, same goes for Michelin...one bad experience (a set of tires) plus they are very expensive, even with the FMCA discount. Last summer I put Continentals on the front and Toyos on the rear....couldn't get the correct size to put Toyos on the front.
  8. As few miles as most of us put on these beasts, I see no reason for synthetic oil. Plus, most of the truckers use standard oil and they are running lots of miles.

    Beware

We had an 09 Allegiance that did not have the right front of the frame/coach welded or bolted together...all up under the pax seat.
  10. As a minor point of clarification, Detroit Diesel is still putting DD 13s in some MHs and in commercial trucks used for LTL jobs. They make DD 15 and DD 16 engines for tractor trailers....and go as small as DD 5 and DD 8. https://demanddetroit.com/engines/
  11. As noted, I too do not like to buy new technology....or a new make/model vehicle for that matter. Another question re charging. It has been noted the Li batteries need a special charger....will that charger charge the AGM/gel/lead acid chassis batteries or must they be Li as well?
  12. Same here, power off to plug in and unplug.
  13. Where are they made?

    New Michelin tire

Continentals are fine tires...and, IMHO, better/cheaper than Michelins. I replaced my two front Michelins with 315 Continental HA3s.
  15. I have not owned either an Entegra or Newmar product, but what I have heard from various friends and on line is that Newmar is higher quality as well as having more bells and whistles. Their top of the line King Aire now retails for $1m plus. Before we bought this American Eagle, the only other coach brand we considered was Newmar.
  16. Recently there was a thread on another forum and the bottom line was that Loves will be reducing there discount down to what the other retailers are giving. For a while Loves was giving huge discounts.
  17. I've gotten a couple of filters at reasonable prices from Truck Pro. https://truckpro.com/
  18. Old Glory should never cause problems, as Wayne said, it's a sad state of affairs we even have to have this discussion.
  19. The numbers might say you can do it, but can't imagine towing a 4WD dually would be much fun or very easy with that Benz.

    Towables tire discount

when I had a 5th wheel I changed out the STs for LTs, because one of the STs failed, and it was new China STs vs new US LTs.

    Tire brands

Ditto, last summer I changed out eight Michelins at five and a half years, lots of sidewall cracking. Initially I checked with Michelin for new ones and found not only were they much more expensive than most other brands, the dealer could not find any 295s.
  22. Be sure it is something their F 150 Eco Boost can comfortably pull. Salesmen selling RVs are notorious for telling the buyer that whatever the the customer has will pull what ever RV they are selling just fine.
  23. Hard to beat Weber....we have a Baby Q in the MH and a standard Weber at home. They last forever.
  24. Curb side they tighten clockwise, street side they tighten counter clockwise.
