  1. roadiestx I have mentioned before but I will do it again. Most coaches have a outlet in the engine bay for the Block Heater. When the coach is on shore power or the generator is running the plug is hot. When disconnected or the gen. is off the plug is dead. I connected a Trickle Charger to the plug and to the coach batteries. So any time we are parked and plugged in the batteries are being maintained. Just stayed for 12 days in Indianapolis and the batteries are in fine shape. It seems to me that no matter how much we look, there are always mystery draws on the chassis batteries. Herman
  2. Bill, Can't agree more. Have had AX and found too many place that wouldn't accept it. But there are so many folks out there that use it each and every day. I can't address the question about permanent address. Maybe those that are full timer should give their address as "Folsom Prison Cell Block 3". That would indicate you were a full timer and that is your permanent address for the next 10 to 20. Herman
  3. Great David, you are now an electrician. (as much as any of us are) Herman
  4. I long for days gone by when we didn't have Seat Belts, Shoulder Harnesses, Air bags and Bolted down Car Seats. My kids were able to sleep in the seat with out being strapped in and their heads bobbing in a very painful way. Our child restraint was our arm. Back then I can't remember having accidents where so many children were injured or killed. We drove with the understanding that our first thing was to drive safely to protect those we loved. We drove knowing we had to be the one to protect and not some government regulation saying we are safe now since they required manufacturer to put in all the safety devices that don't help one bit. Now, I am off my soap box and going back to the Topic. Thank you, Herman
  5. I just have this picture in my mind of a boat storage unit where they use a fork lift and put the boat in a very large rack. The picture I am seeing is a 45 foot motor home being lifted by a really big fork lift and being stuffed into an even bigger rack. Herman
  6. David, Check in the front compartment. You should have a large panel of fuses. On our coach there is a list of fuses. I have seen other coaches with each fuse labeled. If neither get a test light and check each fuse. The fuse for your power reel should be live at all times. Be sure and check bot sides if the fuse. Hot both sides=good fuse. Hot one side dead on the other=bad fuse. Herman
  7. Steve, You said the fuses looked OK, but did you check to see if you had power to both sides of the fuse? It has been said many time that "Looks can be deceiving". Herman
  8. My opinion, rather than long multi paragraph response, how about just a "FOR" or "AGAINST". I mean no disrespect to anyone. Thank you. Herman
  9. spuds, You need to research Foretravel. It is a very nice High end coach made in Nacogdoches Texas. A very well respected Manufacturer. Herman
  10. I just visited the Onan Booth and they had a 4 kw Generator with a sign stating that it would run one (1) 13,000 BTU A/C and a few other items. I myself would not replace a functioning A/C. As Brett has said Clean the Evaporator and the Fan. Replace the filter. This is a much less expensive way to go before considering replacing a unit or adding another one. Herman
  11. All roofs on motor homes will have issues. They all must have penetrations by anything mounted on them. If not maintained there are going problems. We are driving down these wonderful maintained roadways in a rolling earthquake. They are going to have issues. Also just because a coach is brand new right out of the factory, don't think there wont be problems. There have been post here where the entire front cap was only attached by the sealant, not one screw. So brand new doesn't mean no problems. Herman
  12. Hay folks, lets try and limit the size of picture posted to the post. Herman
  13. Steve, Welcome to the Forum. Pumping into your house toilet would be a really bad idea. Your house should have what is known as a sewer clean out. It is used when you have a stopped up drain line to clear a obstruction. You can remove the cap and use your macerator to pump out your tanks. Pumping into your home toilet might cause a back up that you don't even want to thank about. Herman
  14. F470227, A location might help find a place to balance your tires. For example, Tomason Tire in McKinney Texas can spin balance your wheels off the vehicle and 22.5 wheels are no problem. Also there is East Texas Truck Alignment in Marshal Texas and they can spin balance your tires on the vehicle. So let us know where you are and others may have a company to help you. Herman
  15. I had an older Winegard Dome on our coach. When Dish made changes to their transmission it would not pick up the signals. When I contacted Winegard they apologized and said that they were sorry about the signal changes. What they did offer was to discount the SK 10000. They had a new unit for $959.95 (the best price I found was $1,295.00 plus SH&H). It came with a 2 year warranty (2 year parts and 1 year labor). They also offered and Remanufactured unit for $799.00 with a 1 year warranty on parts and labor. I purchased the Reman. and the unit I received had to have been a brand new unit. I did the install myself and and it works flawlessly. Just a side note, I have had no problem getting through to Winegard, never had more than a few minutes wait. Herman
  16. Might I suggest that you contact Action RV in Conroe. They may be able to recommend a place. Also try PPL. Herman
  17. j, Your unit appears to be flat mounted. From the picture there is a frame around the set that should be held in by several screws. Those screws should be covered by Wooden Button Plugs. The plugs can be popped out to reveal the screws. They are held in by just a drop of wood glue and in most cases come out easy. Be real careful in removing them so you can replace them when finished. After the frame is removed you should be able to see what method the TV is secured by. Notice I used the word "should" more than once, we are talking about a motor home. Heramn
  18. One thing that might help is a Holding Tank Flush. If you have access to the side of your tank you can install a flush attachment to your tank. Then when you are home you can drain your tank and flush it completely. They can be purchased from most RV supply stores. Herman
  19. Red, When you install diodes you do not have to drill holes into your tail light assemblies. As an example, you cut the Brown wire (Tail Lights) and install a connector (female) to each of the cut wires. on the Brown wire on the wiring harness for your tow lights you put a connector on it , your diodes will have one side with one male pin and two on the opposite end. Plug the wire from the light into the single pin end of the diode and plug the wires coming from the wiring harness of the vehicle and the the tow wire harness into the other end. It doesn't matter which goes on which pin. when not hooked up the the coach your lights are powered by the vehicle. When you are hooked up to the coach the power comes from the coach and will not back fed back into the vehicles system. Like desertdeals69 said I have installed many and never had an issue. However if you are not comfortable doing the job have a professional do it. Herman
  20. Tom, my only difficulties come when I don't remember the color coding. White is ground, Brown is tail lights and Green is stop & left turn signal and Yellow is stop & right turn signal. Or yellow left and Green is right.😯 Herman
  21. Kilted, You have been going for almost a month, How is it going so far? Herman
  22. Rhodesia, Welcome to the Forum. How does it preform when you remove the filter and drive with out it?. Try putting the old filter back on and see how it does. What you may have is just a defective filter. Herman
  23. Rsilriders, Welcome to the Forum. I have my light wired in with diodes. No cables to run on the outside of the vehicle nor bar to store. Just hookup, plug in and go. Herman
  24. rhinderber, could you post a picture of where you need to put a cover in or on to protect from varmint invasion. Herman
  25. b, When doing your inspection be sure to look for chafed wires. In 18 years of moving it may have worn a bare spot in your wiring. Where it doesn't make a contact till pulled to it's limit. Herman
