  1. cmarq, This one of those cases where I would find someone with Dometic experience to do the work. My first thought would be to ask the manufacturer if they have someone in your area they trust. Herman
  2. You can look up the National Electrical Codes for conductor size for amperage to the distance needed' Gentlemen, this seems to one of these cases where Size Does Matter. Herman
  3. Joe, The covers on my tag have removable caps. I can just pop it off to check the oil. Herman
  4. Ray, Carl has a new way to carry a cat in the coach, he puts the litter box in the refrigerator. I would like to know how he trained it to open the door. Herman
  5. Carl, Have you trained your cat to go to the refrigerator to do it duty? Herman
  6. Good morning Rick, Welcome to the Forum. There are a couple of places you might look for a good Diesel Pusher (DP). Close to you in Houston is PPL, sorry I don't know their web site. There is also Motor Homes of Texas in Nacogdoches, TX. you can check out their inventory at www.motorhomesoftexas.com . If you see a unit give Mel Corday a call. We also have a member of the Forum here that is having to sell his coach. His unit is a very well maintained coach. I am sure that he will see your post and send you a Personal Message (PM). Good luck on finding the coach of your dreams and Happy Retirement in April. Herman
  7. Boro=Donkey Hew Hew=Braying of a donkey. Herman
  8. SARSteve, Welcome th the Forum. You might try googling Rv Salvage. There are a number out there that may have what you are looking for. In our area there is Colaw's just east of Joplin, MO. Herman
  9. Eddie, I have had the exact same problem. As Brett said it is the ice makers teflon coating flaking off. I removed mine took it to our local appliance repair/parts store and they gave me the exact match. If I remember correctly there are only 2 screws maybe 3 holding the unit in. Turn off the water. Remove the screws pull the unit out and disconnect the elecrtical plug. then just reverse the process installing the new ice maker. There is no water conncetion to disconnect. Good Luck, Herman
  10. Roland, Try Ebay. When you are in an RV park put it on their Poster Board if they will allow it. Herman
  11. Ron and Sharon, Welcome to the Forum and welcome to retirement. FMCA has a mail forwarding service which you can find in the Benifits section here. Also there is a service in Livingston, TX, The Escapees. Check out both of them. For either one you will need a change of address from your home. One thing you can also do is go paperless on all your accounts. there are many things you can do but only you can decide which is best suited for you. Good luck and enjoy Florida. Herman
  12. Green, Are you speaking about the outer sheath covering the wires that is cracking? If so you can replace it with heat srinkable tubing. You should be able to do the work yourself if you have both mechanical and electrical knowledge. Herman
  13. Bill, In reading your post you stated that the Michelins were 471 and the Goodrich were 384. You also said you had a tag. What size tires do you have? I just bought Goodyear G670s 298/80R-22.5 and they were $735.00 ea. ?? Herman
  14. Carl Know the drill, problem was every time I raised my hand in class, I was always told to "Stop distrubing the class and you should have gone between classes." I have looked hi and low here and can't find the way to vote, so let me go on record to vote, "No I do not change my own oil." Herman
  15. How do you cast a vote? HERMAN
  16. OK Bill will a toothpick do to make sure the ventilator hole is open? Carl, will go ahead and buy and send you the receipt. You might have to send him your address on a PM. So sorry to hear about Ray Huffman's wife's health. Herman
  17. Puff, You will be missed. God's speed and God bless you both. Herman
  18. Bill, Just send Carl a gift card for the six pack. It was down .11 below the fill line. Topped the hub off with 80w-140w per a trailer service center. I do plan on draining both side and replacing the lube with synthetic this summer. The service center said that there would be no harm done if I mixed the lubes other then it might discolor the cover plate. My plan it to change both the covers and the gaskets when I make the change. I saw that the oil bath hub was made by Stemco in Longview, Texas. I did business with them over 40 years ago. I sold them Hex Head Cap Screws for the hubs. Herman
  19. jr, Bill is correct. PPL has 3 locations in Texas. New Braunfels, Cleburne and the home location in Houston. All of which you can see their inventory on line. Bill gave you their address. You might also check out Motor Homes of Texas. http://motorhomesoftexas.com/. MOT has a great web site. Herman
  20. JC, there should be either a tag and or stamped number or name somewhere on the unit. There you might find the information you are looking for. Herman
  21. Dennis, It just came to me. Have you changed out a 12 volt light bulb recently? All the bulbs that are 12 volt are double contact. if you or someone changed out a bulb and used a single contact (single contact single element) bulb you may have a dead short in the socket. In an automobile all light sockets are grounded (-) through the socket wall and the center contact is the power (+). While on an RV the light socket has separate Ground and power leads and not grounded through the socket wall. I hope I have made some sense cause I may have even confused myself. Just my thought and besides if I am wrong I can blame it on the lack of sleep (aka nap). Herman
  22. I have thoughts on the "hospital type bed" for Bob Odell's coach. Many folks can understand his plight. I applauded his desire to continuing to RV with his bad back. Do they make a duel bed where each side has their own controls? With such a setup will he continue to have access below the bed, that type of bed can be extremely heavy? How will it be secured? Keep up the search Bob, hope you find a solution so you and your DW are able to see this great country of ours for a long time. Herman
  23. Joe, Getting your DW a Taser is not a bad idea, however having two TVs and separate remotes can save you a great shock. Herman
  24. Advise on adding the Banks Turbo to your engine has been good. When adding a Turbo to an engine not made for a Turbo gives me some concerns. I remember back in I believe 1993 Ford added a Banks turbo to their 6.3 diesel engine. The results were not good. The engine just couldn't handle it. Then in 1994 they came out with the Power Stroke, an engine designed for the Turbo, and had a very good and dependable engine. There are a number of things you can do to improve your engines performance with out a Turbo. There are tuners that you may change on the fly to give you extra power when needed. Better exhaust system. Intake filters. Of course you could add a Nitro Oxide system to give you that added boost. Good Luck Herman
