razordog, Welcome tp the Forum. Inspect every thing rubber, Hoses, belt and Tires. Setting for 5 years plus driving it for one make the tire close to if not over the safe age for tires. I would super flushs the water system. Check every thing that is propane, water heater, stove, oven if ther is one and furnace. Have the engine and chassis serviced, oil and filter change, all other fluids and super lube. So clean her up and hit the roads. Herman

Msonthego, As Kay said welcome, First the one that leads must be the one that knows where you are going and knows the route. All in the group must agree on the speed. As far as spacing there should always be enough space for more then one vehicle to pull in if they need to if passing. We just came to Arkansas with another couple and they lead. He travels much slower then I do. [60-62 mph] I normaly get 6,7 mpg and today i was averging 7.9 mpg, maybe I should slow down. Herman

Kurtden, If you have the Monaco Coach number that would help. If you don't have it ask Monaco if they have it. With that number they will have all the build information and all specs. When you have that number give it when you contact Monaco. Herman

mspector, Welcome to the Forum. Your compartment is most likely made of mild steel. Most any good welding shop should be able to remove the bad compartment bottom. Be sure to have the rest of the compartment cleaned, primered and painted with a good paint. Others may have an even better solution. Herman

mikerc, Can you tell if it is oxidized on the outside or inside? If it is on the outside you might try Macguires Lens cleaner. It can be found in most auto parts houses. Be careful applying too much pressure when rubbing. Has it been or is the coach park where the dash is exposed to direct sunlight? In most cases it takes direct UV rays to cause plastic to discolor. (Have you cleaned your glasses lately? ) Herman

Bruce, When hooked up to shore power[50 amp] and you turn on your hot water [electric] do you get hot water after a short warm up time? Your water heater needs to be on either Gas or Electric to heat the water. Herman

bgstivers, First Welcome to the Forum. Most old analog TV's have a molding around it. There should be three or more wooden round headed plugs covering the screw holes. Carefully pop off the plugs and remove the screws. At this point it would be good to have a helper to keep the TV from falling if the trim is all that is holding the TV in. In most cases the tv is secured by one or more brackets. With your helper remove the screws and slide the unit out. Be very careful because the old analog TV's are very heavy. Now unplug the power and coax and put the old unit aside. Hope this helps. Herman

Ross, Both Tom and I have the same coach, Monaco. We do have a escape above the bed, however there isn't a head board that covers the escape window. If you have a coach that was made with a head board covering the escape window, I would be on the Mfg. to correct the situation. That would an unacceptable and very unsafe situation. Rory, Take a look at the cost of the Banks chips and may other items they have. Then figure how long it would take you to recoup the cost by the small increase in mileage. This is not a slam on Banks, they are a great company. Herman

Steve, As Brett said they keep a multitude of items off your slide top. If you are parked and there has been either snow or rain and you pull in your uncovered slide some of what is on the slide may or may not be wiped off by the seal. That what is not wiped off by the seal comes in with the slide. Then mama see the puddles on the floor and mama is not happy. None of us wants mama unhappy. Herman

Rory, Just after we bought our last coach I got locked in the coach, the dead bolt lock got stuck. I had to go out the bed room window. I am here to attest to the fact that us old codgers can do it. I opened the window and went on my belly out feet first. It went fine until my belly was in the window and I was out up to my belly. Now here is the fun part. When you get your belly over the window edge your b&*8 is on the ground. So it can be done but it is not graceful. Herman

paperhaker, Welcome to the Forum. Please let us know what make, model and year coach you have. Then someone with the same coach may be able to help you. All coaches that I know have emergency windows that swing out. On my caoch, a 02 Monaco Dynasty, there are two. One is the window over the couch and the other is over the head board of the bed. Both have RED Latches that lock and unlock the slide and have, at the bottom, two RED handles that unlock the bottom of the window so it may swing open. RocKen, Ditto on the welcome. If your chassis mfg. gives you the OK then you will need several things. 1) A 10,000 lb. tow bar. 2) 4 wheel drive. (be careful, some Esclades don't have a Neutral position) 3) 2 wheel drive, a drive shaft disconnect. 4) Auxiliary Braking System. 5) Wiring package for the tow vehicle lights. Happy towing. Herman

Just my 2 cents. What would happen if you have an address where you have a family member living. They forward your mail to you when they know where you will be. You get that wonderful "Jury Duty Summons" 3 weeks after you were supposed to be in court. Contempt of Court I believe is the term. Herman

armsunad, Welcome to the Forum. If you have time you could google all 49 ststes [hard to drive a MH to Hawaii]. and ask each one about their law regarding towing. That being said, if your state requires a supplemental brake system, and you have a accident your insurance company has the right to refuse to pay your claim. Much better to be safe then sorry. A little trick I do when heading home is to turn off [unplug] the ice maker solenoid. This will allow the ice maker to dump the ice but not put water back in. This way you don't have water sitting unfrozen for a long period of time. Herman

Bill, If you travel into cold weather you might install a Freeze Guard and a 40-60 watt bulb. A Freeze Guard can be bought from Swimming Pool supplier. They are designed to turn on your pool pump when the temperature gets down to a preset temp. Most of them come in 220 volt but you can just used on leg for a 110 volt bulb. Herman
