New Forester 3011DS OR 15 yr Old Bluebird Wanderlodge
hermanmullins replied to rhart's topic in Buying an RV
rhart, This just my feelings, 75k new will depreciate the minute you drive off the lot, while the Bluebird has pretty much depreciated down to where the condition will be the best determination to value. That being said, new will have all new accessories (plus all the warranty issues that come with a new RV), while the 15 year old coach will have 15 year old accessories. Have you ever been out in a Motor home? If not might I suggest that you rent one to see if you will like it. Renting one is costly but is a small cost if you decide you don't care for it. If you do like it then you might get a idea of what you would want in your own. Herman -
Most any WalMart will allow you to park over night. The exceptions are whether the city or town has an Ordinance against it. And hey Bentonville is the Home of WALMART. Always and I stress, Always go in and ask permission to park. Herman

Mike, It's like giving Chicken soup to a dead person. "It may not help, but it couldn't hurt." Herman

98, I had to think about your question for a bit and then thought, "Hey they can go where ever they want, they are Full Timers." Herman

John, Check out the M & G Engineering System. It works on a simple premise. It is an air cylinder, approx. 4" long, that goes between the Power brake booster and the master cylinder. Lloyd's idea is, have you ever tried to stop a vehicle with power brakes when the engine is off? It is very hard to override the booster. His unit applies the same pressure to the master cylinder in the same proportions as your coach. They make them for both Diesel (aka air brakes) and Gas coaches. I am sorry but I can't tell you anything about the unit for gas coaches, they have a compressor and I have never seen them. We are here in Madison and I will visit with Lloyd and try to understand the compressor model. Happy and safe travels. Herman

talgutbir, I have had the 360 degree swivel on three coaches. Just to be sure I have them on all vents. They cured the odor problem on our first coach so I put them on the rest. Good luck, Herman

Jo & Gary, Welcome to the Forum. Is it both arms? You may be able to access the arm hardware through the bottom of the seat back. Some of the FlexSteel seats have the seat back cover held together at the bottom with velcro. There may be a nut holding the arm that over the years has tighten to the point is freezing the arm in place. Let us know what you find. Herman

Neil, Welcome to the Forum. There should be several Parks in the Bentonville area. Try the cities of Rogers, Springdale and Fayetville. Also check out: http://rvparkreviews.com Good luck with your search. Herman

Kevin, When you get here go to Information. They will either be able to set you up for a dump or be able to tell you where you can get the service. FYI the weather has been very good, a bit warm but the evenings have been really nice. As Brett said Welcome to the Forum and Welcome to Madison. Herman

Indiana To Madison -- Around Or Through Chicago?
hermanmullins replied to tireman9's question in Destinations/Attractions
From being on the Forum, I feel I have met many new friends. If you will be in Madison lets shake hands and say howdy. Bobbie and I are already here. If you see a utility cart with a driver in a red cap with "Water Service" on it flag me down. Love to meet you. Herman -
Carl, So sorry for your loss. Herman

Black Beetles on Bottom of Motorhome
hermanmullins replied to jlandon13399's topic in Type A motorhomes
FYI, As many have had in their travels, ANTS. I have found a great thing to stop bugs. Works very well at my house. BUG STOP by Spectraside. I just spray around the base of the house and as bugs come in contact with it THEY DIE. Can be sprayed around the coach to stop ants as well. Herman -
Chuck, Welcome to the Forum. Several Questions, Is your truck equipped with the four wheel neutral Switch? If not your Ford dealer can install one. You will also need to select a towing package, Blue Ox, Roadmaster or one of your choice. As for braking I am partial to the M&G Engineering Unit in Athens, Texas. Didn't ask, is your coach Gas or diesel? Will need to wire the truck for lights, I prefer to use the diodes. Herman

Ron, With the key on check both post on each solenoid. I have just had a similar situation. One bad solenoid. However replacing it I still had a problem. Turns out I had one bad chassis battery and one very questionable one. Replaced both, all idiot lights came on--- nothing. I was just about to start the checking when that little light came on. I went to the rear of the coach and moved the remote start switch from rear to front and BAM it started right up. Herman

Vehicle Choices-- Towable 4 Wheels Down?
hermanmullins replied to astmi's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
astmi, Sorry my friend, but towing a vehicle with the engine running is a very bad idea. First it is a way to burn up your engine due to very bad air circulation for the engine. As Jim said, check to see if there is anyone that makes base plates for you vehicle and if Remco has a transmission fluid pump for your vehicle. Herman -
747, Glad you got your seat fixed. I looked at my wiring diagram book and only found a location for the fuse and nothing else. Hope the DW can get her feet down now. Herman

Brake System Towing Laws in Canada
hermanmullins replied to thingshappen's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
You might check with Rand McNally to see of they have an atlas for Canada. In the U.S. version there is a page with state laws with regards to speeds, lengths and braking requirements. Maybe the Canadian version has the same. Herman -
Deborah, To keep down the cost of replacing the manifold you might consider removing the manifold having it milled flat and replacing it. You will have original equipment and all of your exhaust will fit. New gaskets and donuts and you should be good to go. I like the idea of using a penetrant several days before you begin. Herman

Michelin Tire Program And Canadians
hermanmullins replied to DBeattie's topic in Membership/Benefits
D, Did you contact FMCA with regards to the tire program. If you do they can help resolve your dilemma. I have not participated in the program but believe it is best to go through the FMCA Office. Please don't bail, there are so many other great things FMCA has to offer. Herman -
guy, I have a 2002 Dynasty and have the wiring diagrams. Let look and see if I have the page for the Passengers seat. If I find it I will PM you. Herman

Oscar, You may want to go a bit further West, say Ruidoso, NM or maybe further North to Eagles Nest, NM. or most anywhere in Colorado. Herman

Rich, It is apparent that you have a wealth of information in your possession. Maybe Todd can help set up a section for RV Maintenance & Repair. At the same time there are still many Manufacturer Sites that could benefit from your files. Hope to see you in Madison. Maybe Friday evening? Herman
