  1. dhgraves, Going to a larger tire will throw off your speedometer. On most 22.5 tires you will have a small amount of road noise when they are first installed, but that will diminish fairly quickly. Some times a 7 to 10 year old tire may look great but take a close look in between the treads. It my frighten you to see the amount of cracking. Brett made a statement in another post, Are your tires where you want to go with the lowest bidder? I just paraphrased his comment? Herman
  2. A40X, Have to agree that if your coach has AquaHot you have a good system. I premise that with if the system is properly maintained. When working they are great. When not they are a pain in the rear end. Spent a lot of time on my unit, pressure tested the unit found no leaks, drained the unit ( tested the coolant and found it needed to be changed). Refilled the system (16 Gallons of 50/50 coolant). When I pressure tested the system I also checked the Cap. It would not hold pressure and when the unit got hot it would blow out enough coolant to trip the low coolant switch and unit would not run. New Cap and the uint works great. Got an extra cap in the coach now. Herman
  3. DD69, Really? What I would like to see is a report of where they got their rental and how was their trip. Herman
  4. As Brett said, do your measurements with the coach loaded as it would be normally. Then measure from the center of the receiver to the ground. Then measure from the center of your base plate to the ground. Subtract the base plate measurement from the receiver measurement. That will give you the size of drop you need for the hitch. Herman
  5. Take your plaque to a company like Fast sign. Have them make you decals. They can make them to stick to both the inside of the windshield and ones that will adhere to the outside. Mine looks great. I even had a small one made to go on my tow vehicle. Herman
  6. SR, Check online for RV Salvage. You may be able to find a complete window, frame and all. As dd69 said check with Winnebago. I would think they might have one but I would wager that it would not be inexpenaive. However checking with them might give you a sence of cost. Now be careful leaving your storage unit, storage units can be sneaky and jump out when least expected. Good Luck, Herman
  7. Does your coach have a roof rack now? Are you towing a vehicle? If you are towing a vehicle a rack on it would be a better idea. Also it would be a lot easier to load and unload. Herman
  8. I got a nice hint from James at Xtreme Graphics. When trying to remove Items from painted surfaces do not use a heat gun. The heat gun will continue to get hot and if held a fraction too long in one sport the surface is damaged. Use Steam. Steam will reach a maximum of 212 degrees and no more. It would be around 190 by the time it comes in contact with the surface. That is enough heat to loosen adheasives and still not damage the surface. Hope this helps. Herman
  9. Charles, no that should be OK. On your trip, when you get to Mt. Rushmore be sure to go at night if at all possiable. The sight is awsome. Then going to Yellowstone, don't miss Devils Tower and Cody. Plan to stay several day in Cody so you can do the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. I envey you on Glacier, we have never been, hope to soon. Have a wonderful time. Herman
  10. Williamf43, Welcome to the Forum. Where is not a good place to spend the summer in Colorado? We love Estes Park, Durango, Pagosa Springs, Creed, South Fork and on and on. The wife and I love Colorado. So any place you end up in would be great. Go, enjoy and have fun. Herman
  11. FYI, my dealer charges $25.00 for new stems, mounting and balancing 295/80R/22.5 tires. Just evey now and then thing are better in Texas. Herman
  12. Sat boy, Check to make sure that all of the compartment doors are closed completly. Some slides will not close if the doors are not closed. Try opening and slamming the doors shut then try the slide again. Hope this helps. Herman
  13. cpenn, It sound like you are going to make a great trip. My question is about your departure time and how much time you plan to travel. If you are planning on leaving in September which is the beginning of very cold weather in North Dekota and Montana. Three months will take you into November which can be really cold and snowing. Just my thoughts. Herman
  14. Larry, Welcome to the Forum. First check for blockage and or restrictions on the passengers side of the heat vents. One of the thing the wife and I do is put up our curtain. We have a curtain that goes across the coach behind the driver and passenger. This helps to keep both the cool air and the heat from the dash unit stay up front and not trying to cool or heat the entire coach. In the summer heat we will turn on the gen set and the ACs shortly before we arrive at our destination for the night to start the cool down. Herman
  15. DR, You make some valid points. One thing about coaches with Tag axles is that the majority of the coaches have air bags. With most they also can lift the tag axle to allow for tighter turn radiues. My coach with its tag axle handles so much better then our other 2 coaches. And as you said when every thing is said an done if you are happy with your coach that is all that matters. (now if someone wants to make the payments I will drive what they provide. Ha ha.)
  16. Joe, Welcome to the Forum. Most all coaches perform well on up and down grades. When I can, I will increase my RPMs just as I come to an incline. This will increase your torque and help maintain your speed. However in the mountains coaches with higher torque will fair better. But when to road is steep and curvy ever body will experience slow going. If at all possible keep your RPMs up and your eye on the road. You will make it to the top. Dropping to a lower gear just before the climb will help. Go enjoy the trip and when in the mountains let the DW tell you how beautiful the view is as you view the road. Have a safe trip. Herman
  17. John, Check with one of the truck tire companies. There are spacers out there for your wheels. However be sure you have enough thread on your wheel studs for the added spacers. Herman
  18. Sorry Brett, I was working with 220 volt machines. By the way one of the machines was a Towel Folding Machine. Flat towel in French folded towel out and stacked. Herman
  19. biz, I don't know if there are any left out there but there was a power system called Delta. I know years ago they had it in Amarillo, TX, On a unit I had repaired several time, I checked the power. 285 volts. I thought my meter was bad and called the power company. He said yep, 285 volts. We had to add capacitor to all the units to take the surge that would drop to 180 up 290 volts at any given time. Lots of parks will have a power rise in the evening when every one turns off all there stuff. Sound to me like your surge protector is doing its job. Good Luck Herman
  20. JB, Welcome to the Forum. Is your GMC 4 wheel drive? If so yes. Your suburban will have a steering wheel lock and you would need to leave the key in the first position. It is also heavy enought to require a auxilary braking system, a braking system should be on all toads. Herman
  21. DD, was that hard to wire? Did it come with a wireing diagrahm? Herman
  22. DD, Did you set them to come on with the ignition key? Herman
  23. You can deduct mortage interest from your homestead and one more. The second may be a boat, RV, Lake house or farm house. One of the stipulations is that the second home must be liveable. That is it must be able to cook, live and Bath in it. Now before others jump in and say different, this has been my understanding for the last 20 years. I have never been audited for the deduction and my taxes have been done by a CPA. Hope this helps. Herman
  24. On most new coaches the dealer does a walk around and explains everything, (That is everything he knows). It is always a good thing to carry a recorder so you can go back over what was said but you may have missed. On most surround systems there has to be a source for input, amp and speakers. A call to the mfg. for each component might clear up confussions. When all else fails call the coach mfg. get the engineer on the phone and ask how it works. Herman
  25. DD that sound good. Does it have an alarm that can be set for the Freezer and Refrigrator temps? Herman
