  1. How long has it been since the fuel filter was changed? Herman
  2. JMGolden, Brett is correct have the unit checked out by a professional. It would be best if you have a factory shop for the engine that is in the coach. I think Bill is correct on the tire and may in fact be the third set of tires. Either way while inspecting the tires sidewalls pay attention between the treads. The side walls can look fine and there be severe cracking between the treads. Take into consideration that if you purchase this unit you will need to replace all the tires. Also where has the coach been stored, under cover, in an enclosure or outside? How is the finish? If the price is right tires and servicing is not a big deal. However if there are problem with the engine or transmission that can become very, very expensive. Good Luck and I hope it works out for you. Herman
  3. There was a story out several years ago about Cat Engines. It seem that they had on static display one of the first engines manufactured by Caterpillar. They took it into the shop put it on a test stand, cleaned it up, tuned it up and ran it on the dyno. It was said to have ran as good as any of the new engines and exceeded all EPA requirements. Now this tells me that being old ain't so bad afterall. Herman
  4. guttu, From your question I could not tell if you were saying that the unit would not light, or would not stay lit?? If it would not light, do as Bill said check that you do have Propane, Don't always beleive the guage on the tank, try to light the stove and check to see if your hot water heater is lighting. If you confirm that you do infact have propane, do the unit tune up as Brett said. If it will light but not stay lit it may as simple as bad or out of line thermocouple. Herman
  5. 10-4, my Winguard has stepping switches. I will remember that KVH is computer controled. Herman
  6. Check again with KVH and ask if there is a different setting for either the D12 and the D12D-100? I believe that there is only one setting but it would not hurt to ask. You said before that you had checked the switch, was that the unit in the satilite dome? I had to remove the dome cover and set them to Dish when I bought my coach. Herman
  7. Lyle, Contact your Mfg. and ask their tech where you might find to dump switch. I had a problem with my Monaco one time. The solenoids would not release. It was suggested that I replace both valves. I purchased the valves and when I removed the first on I found my problem. Dirt Dobber had clogged the release port hole. Cleaned both hit the dump switch and down went the coach. (Took the valves back for full credit) When you get the tech on the line ask where the solenoids are located and check them to see if they might be clogged. Good Luck. Herman PS: To all out there one of the first place to look for help would be to the Mfg.
  8. Yes I have repaired my awning before. It isn't easy but can be done if you take your time, have the tools and follow the instructions. Go to Carefree and look for instructions. Herman
  9. Mike I agree with you, however if you are fulltiming it may not be that bad. Herma
  10. shuzie, Welcome to the Forum. What brand of awning do you have? Google the Brand you have and check out the installation Manual. Most Mfgs. have good drawings and picture to help. Herman
  11. rmg21 Both Coaches are now covered by Monaco (Navastar). Beaver was purchsed by Monaco around 2002 and that is why it has a Roadmaster chassis. Both are fine coaches. One thing on the Beaver, check out the brakes. At one time the brake were air over hydralics and they had many problems with them. I believe that was only on the 1999 coach but I would check it out any way. On either one be sure that the refrigerator, if they are Norcold, have had the recalls done (ther were 2 recalls). Now the prime question, since both are fine choises, which one does the DW like?? If the DW ain't happy, well you know the rest. Good Luck and when in Texas shout out. Herman
  12. ljbora, Welcome to the Forum. Have you checked to make sure the KVH Trackvision is programed for direct TV? Google the KVH and look for the page on setting the dish for Direct or Dish Network. The previous owner may have had Dish. Herman
  13. I'm not a big fan of these type of deals however. If you stayed for the max 21 days and moved on to the next park in one day and stayed at all 90 parks, you would spend 1890 days or 5.18 yaers in the Thousand Trails parks. That would cost $3,510.00 for 6 years membership. That would average out costing $1.86 per night. Hmmmm. Herman
  14. That would be Motor Home Specialitie. They are mostly consignment RVs and are quite High in their pricing. But they do know how to display a coach. During the summer each coach is pluged in with the air on and water in the fridge. Herman
  15. Chuckles, Welcome to the Forum. If you ordered this online and paid for it with a Credit Card and you haven't paid for it yet, put it in dispute with your CC company. They will with hold payment to the "bible" until it is satisfied. Herman
  16. arrusso, Welcome to the Forum. Have you joined FMCA yet? As for your question. 13 year old coach that has averaged 2,850 mile per year sound as if the previous owner(s) used it very little. However they may have used it to winter in the South and Summer in the North. So pay close attention to the interior. Does is look worn on the furniture? How is the floor? These would be signs of having been lived in but not moved very much. How is the outside finish? Does it look faded from the sun or is it fresh as if it had been stored under cover? See if there are any service records. Have the engine checked by a professional. Check out the tires. Your can check the Mfg. Date on the sidewall of the tire. If possible drive it on the highway for several miles getting the speed up to posted limits. Check for vibrations. If you spend 1 hour looking over a used car spend 6 or 7 looking over a MH. Hope you find everything OK and you can get on the road with the rest of us. Herman
  17. QuiGonJohn, Even though your tank says it is 2/3rds full it may no bet. A quick check would be to light your Range. If it lights you have Propane, If not you may just be out of gas. Just a thought. Herman
  18. Rich, Sound like a neat tool. If you leave it in place too long you could find the short by the smoke. Herman
  19. If your friend has the ability, he can make his own. Lot of Stainless Steel Tubing, Bending tools, Flaring tools and lots of time. He will need to remove each and every section of Brake Lines, duplicate each one and replace them. I would do one at a time. If he is going that far I would replace the caliper and Master cylinder at the same time. (be sure his towing insurance is up to date when he decides it is too big and needs to take it to a shop). (Hmm, Hey Doc, I have a friend that is having some problems in the bedroom do you have any advise for him?) Herman
  20. John, Welcome to the Forum. With a son like yours you have a whole new career. With so many thing on an RV Made of Plastic, he can make the replacement parts and you can to the sales side. Good luck. Herman
  21. Eddy, Welcome to the Forum. vsheetz is correct, there are some of those V10s that had very short threads and the plugs had a problem. Some even blew out while driving down the road. I am not saying your is one of those but I would check your engine out before attempting to change the plugs. Good Luck, and I hope yours are the good heads. Herman PS Brett too.
  22. MarYJac04, You have a short somewhere that is for sure. First, without hitting the brake, put in a fresh fuse and try the turn signals. If they both work then the short will be somewhere in the brake light switch or turn signal switch. Many thing in the light system run through the turn signal switch. But you must have a bare or burnt wire somewhere. Good Luck Herman.
  23. John, Welcome to the Forum. I know you may not understand, but when you write in all capitol it mean you are shouting, but when you write in both capitol and bold, you are screaming. I know that is not what you mean. On each of the product you have listed there will be both good and bad comments about them. Here on the Forum you will hear from many people that have used either or both. The final decision will be yours. I can speak on one. The Steer Safe unit. I never saw any change with or with out the unit. I did change out the eye bolts with longer ones and was able to tighten the spring up more and did notice a little change. When I stopped by Deming, NM at the Factory, they had a fit and changed all of the springs and eye bolts. After that I didn't feel any difference from what I had done. Even so I was pleased with the unit from there on. Herman
  24. Butch, Looking forward to meeting you. When you get all set up in Shawnee, go to registration and have them radio me and I will come to meet you. If you see a Golf Cart with both the US and Texas flags that will be me. Herman
