  1. There are several V Parks in Custer and one or two in Rapid City. Both close to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Mount Rushmore several years ago cost $15.00 and was good for a year. Crazy Horse was too expensive then for us. Herman
  2. Does Atwood have a fix for this? It may just be something a simple as a spring that is off or broken. But give them a call. Herman
  3. cwschnepf, How old is your Ice Maker? I had the same problem with our coach and replaced the Ice Maker and solved all my problems. Larry, I believe all RV Refrigerator will not fill once the ignition is turned on. One thing I have done since I installed my new Ice Maker is to turn off the water solenoid valve to the IM when we are about to begin the last leg of a trip. This will allow the ice to clear the tray but not refill with water. That away when we dump the ice I don't have water standing in the Ice Maker. Herman
  4. Andy, give these folks a look see: Hutson Insurance Group. Kim or Joy can give you a quote. 710 East Park Blvd. Plano, TX 75074 972-398-9001 www.thehutsongroup,con Herman
  5. After thought. Any time you have a tire problem keep your tire. You may never know when you may have to prove the failure of the tire. Tire mfg. always want you to provide proof. Don't leave it at the store and expect them to keep it for you. Herman
  6. dbtoytrains, Welcome to the Forum. What does his insurance Company say? Herman
  7. 10-4 New one coming out. You might get the feeling that they said lets put it out and after a year go back and fix the problems. Buy the newest unit out for $380.00 and a year later you can spend $380.00 again and get the up new and improved model. Wouldn't it be nice if they gave you a nice trade-in on the first model for the new and inmproved model. Just a thought and wishful thinking. Have a good one. Herman
  8. Bill, I think that is a problem with a lot of GPS units. Does any one make an anti-glare cover for such a small screen? I did take one of my units and made a tunnel like cover and reduced some of the glare. One of my units has a small puck like antenna extension and I can put the GPS down low but then its hard to see without taking your eyes off the road and look for it. Herman
  9. Since this is a topic on door latches let me relate a problem with our dead bolt on our Dynasty. We pulled in to get fuel, on our way to Rockport and for some reason the dead bolt was locked. When I tried to open the door the dead bolt knob would turn but not the bolt. So I had to go out the window. Now to get out of the window I went out feet first and was doing fine until I got my belly over the window ledge. At that point it was not very graceful. Now back to the door. I was able to pull back the trim on the door and was able to see the dead bolt. I got my pocket knife and was able to push the bolt back and got the door open. What happened was the dead bolt was modified at the factory to add length so the lock could be placed further back then in a standard door. The bolt was pinned with a roll pin and the roll pin broke. I was able to get a new pin and repaired the dead bolt. I hope this helps anyone that may have this problem, hope you don't. Herman
  10. To all that may have had a broken door latch or fear that their may break, give this company a look: RB Machining/RV Div www.motorhomelatches.com. They do storage door latches and may also do door latches. Good luck to all.
  11. See Lyle, even in Iowa you can teach an old dog new tricks. Glad it worked out for you. Herman
  12. Tom, I noticed in your pictures that it looks as if you went through the drivers side window?? Also on the Norcold 1200 icemaker when the ignition on the coach is on the ice maker will not operate. This is to keep water from going into the ice maker and sloshing out and making a block of ice worthy of a beer cooler. Do you have a problem with that on your residential box? FYI, I just changed our ice maker because of several problems. What I have started doing is disconnecting the hot wire to the ice maker the day we will be returning home. This will allow the ice maker to clear the frozen ice but not fill with water. (I plan on installing a switch for this.)When we get close to home the wife dumps the ice in the toilet. A little scrubbing and a dry ice maker. Herman
  13. Brett, I have already found a set at a salvage yard for $25.00 each. They are on a 1993 BMW 325. They will be my second choice. Will keep you posted. Herman
  14. I just got the information back from the supplier of the head lights for Hella that provided the lights for my Dynasty. www.ssterlingco.com. I sent Chris pictures of my head lights and he came back saying that they had the units in stock and could ship right away. $289.00 per side. I think I will try the 3M kit Bill spoke of. Before and After pictures to follow. Herman
  15. Good to know Bill. The kit I got was just a small buffing wheel and some compound. Can you step me through the process? What grit did you start with, wet or dry? What grit did you finish with and did you then use a polish of some sort? As I said the kit I used wasn't worth the money and I should not have condimed all kits. Herman
  16. Try some of your local audio stores. They have the rolled sound proofing you may need. Radio Shack may also be a place to look. The main thing to be alert for is Fire Rating. Being under the dog House there is a great deal of heat. Caution, Caution, Caution.
  17. .006 X 6 tires = .036 total. The seat in your Windsor is a lot more sensitive then most. I am going to look to see if there any truck tire dealers in North Texas that has a truing machine. Herman
  18. I have been in contact with Hella. They asked for pictures of my lights and after seeing the pictures they informed me that the lens can not be sold separately and that the head lights on my coach are made by BMW. I went on Craigslist and found a 1993 BMW 325 that had the same head lights. I will go and look at them after I take some measurements. The cost $25.00 each. Will let you know how they work out. Herman
  19. Brett, from what I hear, "Knee Deep" is and understatement.
  20. Side note to traveling with friends. Be sure the person leading has a DW that can read a map, knows when the GPS it is right and when it is wrong. Been the and done that, it makes for some senic trips and bad roads. Herman
  21. Good point on mounting. When you have to have a tire mounted on the side of the road they will in most cases not remove the tire but mount it while still on the coach. This can create the off center as stated. It would be a good thing to have it remounted as soon as possiable to center the tire on the wheel. As far as alignment, the standard specs are not always correct for the chassis. I contacted Monaco and they sent me the alignment specs for my chassis. I keep it in the coach information in the coach so if I need to have it aligned the Tech know what to set it on. Years ago there were places to have your tires trued by shaving the rubber. It worked fine on cars, but I don't know if they can do it on RV and Truck tires. One thing to look for is cupping on the tires. This can be caused by balance and or shocks. What kind of shocks are open for discussions, lots of openions. Herman
  22. Gypsea, Welcome to the Forum and RVing. Tom has the right idea. One day at a time. When we got our first coach we made lots of mistakes. The biggest being going full bore to the destination and back. We would drive 450 to 500 miles a day and die that night and do it all over the next day. We now set a distance we want to go in one day. It's now 200 to 250 miles. That gives us time to stop and see the sights. When we get to a place of interest we stay 2 nights. We spend the night take the next day to visit the local area and relax. The next day we do the same thing again. I think we need to change what RVing means, not Recreational Vehicle, but Relaxing and Visiting. So go on your trip. Relax, visit the sights. You will meet so many wonderful people along the way. Herman
  23. Glen, Welcome to the Forum. More information is needed to answer your question. 1. Where are you located? 2. What kind of coach do you drive, "A", "B", "C"? You will get lots of answers when you give this info. Good Luck, Herman
  24. Sophia7 & Tom, Just this morning I was trying out one of those kits to clear up your head light lenses. Don't waste your money. I did find out that the units were made by Hella. I knew they made off road light but did not know they made complete head light units. I and going to contact them to see if that know which model are in our coach and if I can purchase repalcements. Since I know both of you have Monacos I will let you what I find out. Herman
