  1. Bill, you haven't said what kind of generator you have and what the model is. Does it have an electric fuel pump? This might be a funny question, but are you sure that although it says the tank is half full, Is It? Herman
  2. The only time we stayed in the area we were in Custer. That is a little far but hey it was October and the park had cut off their water but we filled our tank and they only Charged us $10..00 per night. Hill City has 1 or 2 parks. All that being said don't plan on staying in the Black Hills before the third week in August. Staring in a week is the Black Hills Motorcycle Rally (Sturgas). They have had as many as 600,000 bikers in the area. Not a good time to sight see let alone finding a spot to park, good or bad. It is a beautiful place to visit. Herman
  3. Rory Tug, Welcome to the Forum. Do you have an aux. brake on your MDX? If so you might have it checked out to see if it is set up wrong or is malfunctioning. I may be wrong and will be corrected if so, but I don't believe warped rotors will cause that much heat. But if you have a sticking, caliper then that can cause a lot of heat. Also if your rotors are warped that bad, I would not turn then but have them replaced.
  4. jc, Not a bad idea. That way you can keep the flying critters out and keep down your Fleas at the same time. For several years I have kept a bottle of Flea and Tick spray with my dump hoses and spray the Dump hose, Water Hose (away from the nozzle) and Power Cord. So far the Wife doesn't seem to scratch so much. Herman
  5. 830. I see you are no longer a probie. Wow you jumped from Newbie to Avanced in one day, Congrats. You are right Todd always come through. Herman
  6. Wayne, Welcome to the Forum Newbie. Been here long?? Herman
  7. Skip, I will bet that while at the Rally you will meet some really nice people the would be glad to have you join then with a ride to dinner. Good luck and enjoy Indianapolis. Herman
  8. rodneyr, Welcome to the Forum. Idling while being towed is not a good idea. There is very bad air circulation and the engine will defiantly over heat and that is another problem you do not want. It seems to have come down to either a Dolly or pump. Now would be the time for auto makers to come up with a lock out hub for front wheel drive vehicles. Hook up, twist the knob and away you go.. Herman
  9. Gorm50, As has been said, I was missing something. This may be an issue that all the chapters in the Great Lakes Area inform their National Directors to bring the subject up in Indianapolis. Sorry that there won't be a rally on Memorial Day. Herman
  10. Gorm50, Welcome. Where is the conflict? Memorial Day in 2013 is May 27th. FMCA International Rally is March 20-21-22-23, 2013 in Tucson, AZ. FMCA Family Reunion & Motor Home Showcase is on June 19-20-21-22, 2013 in Gillette, WY. I'm sorry but I can't find a conflict in dates. Am I missing something? Herman
  11. johsan38, Welcome to the Forum. We almost never run the roof airs when traveling down the road. We use our dash air always. What we do is have a curtain behind our seats that keeps the dash air up with us. We do, however, on really hot days start the generator and turn on the roof airs about 30 minutes before we stop for the day. This way we are ahead of the cool down before we hook up to the shore power. Hope this helps. Herman
  12. bobbyks, One thing-- GIGEM.
  13. Mike, Welcome to the Forum. Sure you can live in a Class B RV for a week or more. You just need to make sure that you stay in Parks with full hookups and good (nice) Showers. It might get a little tight after a few days. However you would not need a tow vehicle and can park any where you could park a car when sight seeing. I don't know how large your holding tanks are but you should dump everyday. Carry extra water and be sure and HAVE FUN. Herman
  14. Chris, The air bags help with the ride. It would be best if you had them replaced. If you are a DIYer you should be able to change them yourself. They are either by Goodyear or Firestone I believe. Please don't replace just one. Do them both at the same time. Also if you don't already have them install remote fill lines so you don't have to get under the coach to air them up. I believe your P30 Chassis takes between 70 and 90 PSI for a good ride. Herman
  15. RV Chris, Welcome to the Forum. Roll down your drivers window. Put arm straight out for left turn, arm up for right and down for stop. Sorry couldn't stop myself. Sounds like you may need to have your codes run. Do you have any check engine lights on when you have the problem? Do you have a Smart Wheel, Cruise and wiper controls in the steering wheel? You may also have a bad turn signal switch. There are lots of things that go through the T/S other then just the turn Sig. .
  16. Pen, sound like you are on the right track. However before you start R&R parts check with your local Cummins Service Center. Tell them what you have and what you have done and ask them if you are correct. Good Luck. Herman
  17. Darbone, Congratulations. Since you have, as it seems, already purchased the coach, contact Newmar and check on any Factory Recalls that may or may not have been done. Check the refrigerator, if it is a Norcold make sure both Recalls have been done and at the same time check with Cat for the same things. If you are buying it from a dealer have them change the oil and all filters in both the Cat as well as the Gen. If you are buying from an individual have these done ASAP. Starting this way you know when the work was done and when you need to do it again. PS: If you are going to drive through TEXAS any time soon, start early in the morning turn on the Gen. and both A/Cs, then you might be comfortable during the trip. Texas heat is Humid and AZ is dry, but when it is 107 it is hot no matter where you are. Good Luck Herman
  18. PenRay, Are you sure your pump is bad? Have you changed both of your fuel filter? My 400 ISL would snort and buck under a load and while in Oklahoma I replaced both filters and now it purrs like a kitten under load. (Just remembered that in my life time I have had two Fuel Filter problems with my coaches and both times it was in Oklahoma. Hmm)
  19. dd69, One of my main concerns was the balancing of the drive shaft. Drive Shaft King in Dallas, TX made mine. David explained that the disconnect have splines and will only engage one way. This allows them to balance the drive shaft and it will stay in alignment and balance. David gave me a history of Drive Shafts. As cars got longer the d/s got longer. The d/s were made of steel and they got harder and harder to balance due to the length. That was when they went to the 2 piece d/s with a carrier bearing. It was later discovered that a d/s made of Aluminum could be made with a larger diameter, that didn't add weight, and was easy to balance. Because my d/s, in my Chevrolet Silverado was aluminum David made a 2 piece d/s and installed a carrier bearing for support and he balanced it. I have had no problems with the unit. He told me to spray it with WD40 ever so often and to not lube it because that will attract and hold dirt. The one thing that David does that varys from Remcos parts is the release cable. Remco provides a small cable like an old choke cable. David uses a PTO cable that is much stronger and will function much better the Remcos cable. Hope this helps. Herman
  20. RickH, Welcome to the Forum. Try www.rvparkreviews.com here you can see what parks are in a certain area and what folks think about them. Good luck and have a nice stay. Herman
  21. juan 53, I don't see where you have said what make of chassis you have and what engine you have. This is some of what I know. Both Ford and Chevrolet have starter solenoids. On the Ford when you engage the starter the Bendix is moved forward by centrifical force as the starter spins. If you get power to the starter side of the solenoid then your starter may be bad. On the Chevrolet the solenoid is on top of the starter and when power is sent to the solenoid it engages the Bendix. Inside of the Chevy solenoid there is a brass plate that moves forward that connects two studs that powers the starter. Many times the studs and plate become burnt and do not make contact. 1) you can replace the solenoid. 2) Open the solenoid and clean the burnt spots and reassemble the unit. On the Chevy that same plate has the accessories in contact and that post some time becomes burnt also. Now that I have divulged what little I know about the starter let me say this. Most coaches have several 12 volt continues solenoids. I just had to replace two on my coach. I have 5 in my coach (Monaco Dynasty) plus one Very large one I haven't found out what it connects. Relays and solenoids have basically the same function. Relays are for light loads. Solenoids are for heavy loads. If you can get a Load Tester out it on each of your Batteries and check each one separately. Maybe someone can tell you how to check your Battery Isolator. I know I have one but have no idea what it does, but it must be important or I would not have one. Good luck and hope you find your problem soon. Herman
  22. Rr there is an RV Park in McKinney, which is north of Dallas. Lighthouse, nothing too fancy but is still OK. PM me and I can give you more info. Herman
  23. I have found that Colaws is very helpful when you are there. I haven't had good luck getting return calls and answers to emails. But still nice folks.
  24. Was in Carthidge, MO last Saturday. Colaws is loaded with salvage coaches.

    No 12V

Doowah, Check your 12 volt continuous solenoid. Take a 12 volt cont. tester, clip to ground and check both sides of solenoid. you should have 12 volts on both sides. If not your solenoid is bad. I just replaced 2 of the 5 on my coach. Herman
